“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you”
Deuteronomy 5:16
Sunday is Mother’s Day and I am sure there are people scratching their heads, trying to figure out that perfect gift! We all want our gifts to be special, and rightly so…after all, she is Mom! And if you haven’t bought your gift yet, no worries…there is still time! Today, I have made a list of ten ideas that might help, and they just so happen to be some of my favorite gifts! They are great ideas for any occasion, and run the gamut of price, but most fall under $50. I am sure that you all will agree that it is not the cost of the gift, it truly is just knowing that you are loved!
Taking Mom out for breakfast – a treat for sure! Don’t we all love a break from cooking?!
A day in the spa…pure bliss for any Mom!
My Mother always wanted ferns for Mother’s Day!! Hanging baskets or potted plants are great and inexpensive gifts! And it is the perfect time of year to buy them!
Cooking dinner for your Mom is thoughtful and a way to show the love! Last year, Seth and Allie prepared an awesome grilled steak dinner for me and it was topped off with Allie’s delicious from scratch apple pie! Yum!
I still remember my Mother’s signature scent…my favorite is Jo Malone and every purchase is presented ready-to-gift to that special lady!
(Available in fine department stores and at JoMalone.com)
Have you ever thought about a cooking class for your Mom? A couple of years ago for Mother’s Day, Katy had the brilliant idea for us to take a macaron-making-class together! We had the most fun baking and then eating our confections!!
(Check out classes at Sur la Table here)
A gift certificate for a mani-pedi makes your Mom feel pampered! And she certainly deserves a little relaxation every once in a while!
For the coffee loving mamas…a French press makes a fabulous cup of coffee and it is not expensive! If you have more money to spend, Nespresso makes this great Pixie for espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos!
(You can find a French Press here and the Nespresso Pixie here)
I think any Mom would love this mirrored tray that is on sale at Kirkland’s for $14.98 in either a gold or silver finish!

A gift that doesn’t cost any money – spending time with your Mom! I love this sweet time with Seth and Allie making cookies!
I hope these suggestions were helpful for you to find that perfect gift!

I also remember my mothers love for Youth Dew. She and her sister used it and whenever I see it I have fond memories of them. A Mothers Day luncheon always involved strawberries as May is the month we picked them for Strawberry short cake. Yum!

It is neat that we associate the memory of our Mother’s scent! Alice, I made your strawberry pumped up shortcake and my family loved it. I used a trifle bowl and it was so pretty! My Dad said I need to make again! Thanks for sharing it with me!

So glad to here your dad liked it and wants it again. I made it last week for my brother-in-law. It went quickly. I loved the fact you used a trifle bowl because it looks so pretty.

I wish I was closer to my mom….a 10 hour drive….if I was there on Mother’s Day, I would take her out for the day…she loves being pampered!
Yes, togetherness is the best gift you can give…the experiences and memories vs. things…but things are good too 🙂

Dolores
You remember the mother, in my case and absent, really always done. In the Mother’s Day and only the memory and prayers.
The proposals show us you are beautiful and endearing. They are based, rather than expensive and spectacular gifts in beautiful gifts full of love, affection and very tasty !!. Mothers and want them to be and so do my daughters, what do you like best mom? … Flowers, as two large and beautiful bouquets that decorate my living room and I rejoice day.
Belatedly, happy Mother’s Day.
Dolores
