“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
We unofficially ended the summer yesterday, and I certainly hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! On Sunday evening, we gathered with our family at our home for grilled burgers with all the trimmings and home-made vanilla ice cream …the All-American meal, and it just so happens to be everyone’s favorite! And yesterday, on Labor Day, we both worked around the house all day…Butch outside and I inside! Yes, a true paradox…who says you can’t labor on Labor Day?! But before we got started, we enjoyed our morning together with a healthy breakfast served on our kitchen island! The weather was beautiful, the food was tasty, and the company was the best…it was a good morning, sunshine!
You’ll often see my charcuterie board used as a base for a centerpiece…I love its rustic appearance. I cut herbs from the garden and filled a couple of cobalt bottles and then added a bowl of Granny Smith apples…so simple!
Bowls of Muesli with blueberries get the day started!
I have had the Johnson Brothers “Willow” pattern for many, many years!
Who doesn’t love a home-made blueberry muffin with a cup of bold coffee?
I read somewhere that lemon water was a healthy way to begin the day…not sure if it’s true, but we gave it a try!
The April Cornell napkins were the color inspiration for the tablescape!

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver”
Proverbs 25:11
The placemats and napkins were found at TJ Maxx…my favorite place!
I appreciate all your visits and I love the comments you leave behind!

Good morning, sunshine, to you too! Great start for every morning – a good cereal breakfast, coffee, and ice water with lemon! That’s my standard recipe. 🙂 Now, if I set my table like yours each day, what’s not to love? Have a great week, Pam.
Thanks so much, Rita! I wish I could start every day like this!
Beautiful and fresh! Green apples make everything look (and taste) good. I love that you worked on Labor Day. We did a little of that, too, after arriving home from our family reunion weekend. (Armadillo damage repair!) It sounds like y’all had a wonderful family weekend, too. I’m so glad! I know Ella Mae was the center of attention – as it should be. 🙂
Yes, Ella Mae is always the fun part of any family get-together! Armadillos are the worst pest ever, they destroy yards! Happy Tuesday!
Love your kitchen, the old Blue Willow pattern and the green plates on the shelf. What are they?
Thanks so much, Alice. The plates are by Raymond Waites and I bought them years ago at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart…still love them! Happy Tuesday!
I love the way everything ties together and that includes what’s not on the table!
Thanks, Linda
I’m afraid I would linger here all morning Pam! What a fabulous happy place! Your colors are gorgeous, blue like an October sky- and Love Love the board and blue bottle herbs- I bet it smells good too! You have brightened my day!
Jenna
Oh, thanks so much Jenna! I wish we could start off every day like this. My hubby leaves early for his office and I like to eat two or three hours after I get up! So weekends and holidays we get to eat together.
Your kitchen is so pretty. Love the centerpiece on the bar. Great blue bottles and herbs. I have the Johnson Brothers blue willow also. You really have the design eye for finding napkins and accessories to give a table that instant zing!
Bonnie, thanks for your sweet comments! I know you have had a great time visiting your grandchildren. When do you leave for your river cruise?
The tasty and also aesthetically lovely breakfast What more could you want? … Ah … yes … the pleasant temperature without the pressure of summer. Here we are at 38/39 ° C, a horror time for this September. I dread the heat, I do not like …
I love watching your table settings, always creative and beautiful
A hug
Hola Dolores, suena como que es muy caliente en el que vive, todavía muy caliente aquí! ¡Muchas Gracias por sus amables palabras! Enviando abrazos, Pam
Hello Dolores, sounds like it is really hot where you live, still very hot here! Thanks so much for your kind words! Sending hugs, Pam
I don’t tablescape but we had burgers and all the trimmings yesterday, and I have simillar blue china from my grandmother, and I always have a pitcher of lemon water in the fridge ( sometimes with cucumbers, too…a lesson from the DIL )
What is funny is that one day my youngest son was over here and assumed that it was sweet homemade lemonade, which I do make sometimes too. Well he was in for a surprise 🙂
Your tablescape is lovely and appetizing as well with the muesli and fruit!
Deb, thanks so much! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful table and beautiful kitchen!!!
Thanks so much, Shirley!

Rosie, you are so kind! I love to cut herbs and bring in…the smell is so nice in the kitchen!
Can’t remember if I’ve told you this before, but when my son was little, we were watching Andy Griffith and he said, “Hey, Aunt Bea uses Blue Willow dishes!” I knew then, I’d raised him right.
Funny, And yes you gave him a good Southern upbringing!
Such a beautiful table! Everything looks so nice and I love the colours ♥

So pretty! Love the colors you used. I adore those swirled glasses you have (are they a current item that can still be found?). The placemats made the perfect backdrop for the dishes and napkins. Love the gorgeous countertop!!
Thanks, Liz! The swirl glasses were purchased several years ago at Tuesday Morning…wish they were available still because I broke one.
Beautiful Breakfast Bar Pam, Love the great mix of colors, just so pretty and great for a late summer/fall table.

Pam, I just stumbled onto this beautiful website. What an amazing kitchen. It inspired me to go to my cupboards and pull out ever piece of cobalt blue, and blue and white china I own. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to this warm, inviting scene every morning? Your kitchen seems to be ‘quintessentially’ you! Thanks for the inspiration.
Sharon, thank you for your sweet comments! I am so glad you stumbled on my blog!
There is always so much to take in on your tables as you have such an eye for detail. It’s always a pleasure to imagine sitting at table with you.
Linda, I would love to have you sit at my table!
