“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Romans 15:13
It’s that time of year…do I wear closed or open toed shoes? Short or long sleeved shirts? Do I dare wear white in March? We are caught in the middle of winter and spring, and I am just not sure how to dress…and I was feeling the same about setting the table this week! I rarely have a week that I have absolutely nothing in mind for a tablescape, but this was one of those weeks! I always have to have a jumping off point, but I was coming up empty….no flowers are in bloom in my garden, and I didn’t have any fresh fruit for a centerpiece! But then I remembered some adorable salad plates I had tucked away! So, I decided to shop my house and before I knew it, I had a little Provencal-style setting.
One of life’s enjoyments is to sit at the table with wonderful food and conversation…no rushing and no agenda…just being in the moment. That is rare in our world today, but the French seem to do that very well. Butch and I find such joy in the simple things like sharing meals, reading books, listening to music, and of course eating good food with those we love! It’s the simple moments in life that are etched into my heart and memory. I hope you will take time today to relax and bask in the joy of living, or as the French say the “Joie de Vivre!”
As I was shopping my house, I pulled out a wicker tray to hold the centerpiece…
…a very colorful vintage rooster was added for a little French flair!
Striped placemats and pretty bow tie napkin rings (made by Katy) pick up the blue in the salad plates!
Since there were no fresh flowers, I cut rosemary from the garden and placed in French laboratory beakers…I love its pine scent!
Joining the rooster for the centerpiece is an apothecary jar of faux lemons, yes I said faux. I rarely use faux fruit or flowers, but two fresh lemons from the refrigerator would have looked rather puny in the tall jar.
Vintage Noritake dark blue “Sweet Swirl” iced tea glasses were perfect for the casual setting!
White dinner plates from Home Goods hold Paula Deen “Spring Prelude” salad plates that I found at Tuesday Morning at a real bargain a few years ago. I love the bright yellow border!
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver”
Proverbs 25:11
I will enjoy this simple centerpiece on the dining room table for a few days. What are the simple things that you enjoy?

Querida Dolores, muchas gracias amigo mío. ¡Las cosas simples de la vida son siempre las mejores! Enviando abrazos, Pam
Dearest Dolores, thanks so much my friend. The simple things of life are always the best! Sending hugs, Pam
Hi Pam, Lovely! I love the dark blue glasses! I would love a post on how to make those wonderful bow tie napkin rings, if that’s possible. They are just classy! Have a great week! Blessings, Janet
Thanks so much, Janet. I may need to do a tutorial! Blessings~
You must visit my blog as I did a spoof on what the stylist woman should be wearing during this seasonal transition time. It was actually based on a very serious article which made it even more ridiculous in my view. Unlike this article, your tablescape sets the perfect stage for transitioning into spring. Thanks again for inspiring me to think outside the box.
Thanks so much for your visit and I just hopped over to visit with you! Blessings~
Simple can be gorgeous! I love blue and yellow together too. I agree it’s too bad we all don’t stop and enjoy simple times more. The other day I read “as you get older happiness is a cozy home, a good book and the person who knows how you love your coffee.” Perfect!
Thanks so much, Nancy! I agree with your three! Blessings~
It’s funny. I think we were reading one another’s blog posts at the same time. Your comment came in just as I was finishing seeing your lovely blue and yellow. The rooster is wonderful! You didn’t let the initial lack of inspiration hinder you at all. Katy’s bow-tie napkin rings, the napkins, and the place mats are a beautiful combination for this table. I have these same fake lemons, and they are very handy. You can’t tell they aren’t real until you touch them. Next time, don’t mention it, and we won’t ever know. 🙂 I enjoyed your table just as much as always. Glad you went ahead and set a table, simply “going with” whatever struck your mood. It’s wonderful! Happy Tuesday!
Kim, I do think our faux lemons look real. Thanks so much my friend!
Love the vintage rooster used in the tray along with the yellow in the jar. When I was first married I chose Noritake thumb print green glasses. I fell out of love with them and hadn’t used them for close to 50 years. Last weekend I changed the setting on my breakfast table using green as my base and what do you suppose I actually thought to use? The stems of the thumb print glasses. They are beautiful to me AGAIN! When I bought them those many years ago they were very inexpensive but today the price is ridiculous. Thanks for posting your Noritake glasses.
Alice, I am so glad you used your glasses once again after all those years and that you love them all over again. Blessings my friend!
Really pretty. Would love to sit down at a table like that! Love the colors.
Thanks so much, Karen… I would love to have you!
Your tables are always so festive, happy and fun Pam! I just love those bow tie napkin rings, too cute! Just looking at your photos put a big smile on my face, fabulous!
Jenna
Thanks so much, Jenna.
Do you have a tutorial for the bow tie napkins holders?
Mildred I don’t, but I think I might do one!
Beautiful!
Thanks so much!
I really do love this palette. Yellow and blue — those goblets are great. I either need more cupboards or more dish purging!
I have the same problem, too many dishes! ?
Pam, simply beautiful. I love blue and yellow table settings. Simple, but elegant! Magnificent!
Love your posts!!
Brenda, thanks so much! I always love mixing blue and yellow – it is happy! Thanks for your encouraging words…Blessings!
“Shop my house.” Love it! It’s one of my favorite things to do! Your sprigs of rosemary are so simple and beautiful all on their own!
Well, I did have to go outside the house into the garden to cut the rosemary!?
Absolutely love the table. One of my favorites , but your scripture today was what touched me the most . Always thankful for what you write & your heart for hearing. ❤
Kim, thanks so much for your encouraging words. I know God’s Word always brings hope! Blessings~
Seeing your rooster makes me think of my mother who liked roosters and everything with a rooster on it. Even now I have a hard time passing up things I know she would like.
Linda, when I see things that my Mother would have loved, I have the same feelings.
Gorgeous table! Love the blue and yellow together. I have those Sweet Swirl glasses (they were our ‘wedding’ glasses, lol, but only mine are clear. They can be cute or elegant, and I adore the weight and heft of them! The dark blue is gorgeous, and if I had room and money, I’d collect all the colors of this pattern. 😀
Tammy, I have had the glasses for years and I do like the weight of them! Happy Wednesday!
Great job styling your provencal table. Love your colorful vintage rooster, lemons, and grass balls in your tray centerpiece. Your blue and white with yellow dishes and linens are so cheerful.
Mr. Rooster has so much personality and great colors.
The french do enjoy life more I think. You shopped the house well and set the stage for us to think in a more relaxed style like the french do.
Thanks Bonnie, I actually enjoyed the challenge of shopping my house. Happy Wednesday!
Pam, you did a wonderful job shopping your house to put together such a beautiful tablescape! It Is always fun to shop the house and create new things. I love yellow and blue together. The lemons, pretty plates, and blue goblets look gorgeous together. I am swooning over that rooster! I love roosters!
Shannon, I have a small collection of roosters! I enjoyed the challenge of shopping my house…Happy Wednesday!

Blue, white, and yellow is a favourite colour combination in my house. Your table is just lovely.

I love pulling together a tablescape and yours is beautiful but I have to say what had me going gaga is the color on those walls. LOVE IT. 😀 Nicely done

It’s really gorgeous Pam! It certainly did come together. You have a real knack for putting tablescapes together. I love the plates and the lemons look very real. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Oh, Pam, I love this bright spring table!! Your rooster is a colorful focal point. And I, too, would love to know how to make those bow tie napkins. Precious!! Your salad plates are perfect as well. Bravo!!! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Rosie, I am thinking on doing a tutorial for the bow-ties!
Wonderful table setting and room. You don’t get an opportunity to see color in rooms much any more. Yours is a feast for the eyes!
Thanks so much, I still love color in my home!
It is unimaginable that you came up with this beautiful setting and you were not feeling inspired! lol. The colors are magnificent and the rooster pulls everything in. I can not thank you enough for your table expressions,Merci.

Hi Dianne! Thanks so much for your visit. I have had several requests on the bow-tie, I think I need to do a tutorial!
Love those Paula Deen salad plates, what a beautiful color combination picking up the yellow with the lemons. The final touches that you add, the Rosemary, the bowed napkin rings, they really make it much more than simple in my book….a table set with love to be sure. thank you for joining our TADA party!
You improvised quite well! This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
Thanks so much, Sherry…Happy Wednesday
Pam,
Your beautiful tablescapes send ideas dancing through my head. Of course my real table is filled with crafting and building ideas but your posts of elegant details like the forks laced in the napkin folding give me hope. As I host my next party you will have inspired me to bring my a game for my guests. Thanks for sharing with TADA
Happy Creating,
Karen Marie
Thanks for the opportunity to share! Happy Sunday!
Faux fruit has saved many tablescapes for me so you’re not alone. I would also like to see a tutorial on the bow napkin rings they are very pretty. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story, have a great week.
I think I will have to do the bow-tie tutorial!
