“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up”
Galatians 6:9
Have I mentioned that autumn is my favorite season? There’s a hint of the season’s change in the air and it makes me one happy girl. I love the pumpkins and mums that are soon to appear on porches everywhere! I am usually not one to get ahead of myself with seasons, but since the humidity is down and the temps aren’t scorching here in our Appalachian foothills, join me in saying these three words…”hurry up autumn!”
Last Friday Butch and I went to Birmingham to eat at our favorite restaurant…and of course, we stopped by Whole Foods. I always have to check out their flowers and I found these amazing dahlias…which became my inspiration for my tablescape. Their salmon color is perfect for transitioning into autumn!
I realized that I had not used the “Artesian Road” dinner plates and salad plates by Tracy Porter in quite a while.
Placemats and napkins are a great complement to the dishware!
Rustic dragonfly napkin rings were added for their whimsy!
I have been know to use a drop cloth as a table covering! Why not, they are inexpensive?!
The mini vases are also by Tracy Porter, which along with the dishes were ordered years ago from Horchow.
I clipped hydrangeas, zinnias, and Rodeo Drive coleus from my garden to mix with the dahlias!
Aqua stemware that was found at Tuesday Morning many years ago completes each place setting!

Pretty, pretty, pretty! Love that dishware. It’s funny how something like the flowers can spark such a table and really pull from the corners of your mind things you know will complement them, isn’t it? The dragonflies are fitting too – I’m still seeing those still patrolling our landscape for the insects. My dropcloth is one of my favorite everyday cloths, Pam. I took a really big one and cut it down to fit my sunroom round, and used the excess to make 8 napkins. Very nice segue to the colors of fall!
Rita, there is always one inspiration that comes out of nowhere that helps me create a tablescape! Drop cloths are so versatile! Happy Tuesday!
Oh wow, this is absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks so much, Marty! Have a wonderful Tuesday!
This is such an inviting table. I, too, think the salmon colored dahlia is a great segue to fall. I love love love those small vases. They could well be conversation pieces. Thanks for the idea about the drop cloth. The texture and neutral color is perfect with these beautiful dishes. We are going to have sweater weather in the mountains this week. Blessings to you. Dianne
Sweater weather sounds great! Dianne, dropcloths are so versatile and inexpensive. They are really great for outside use! Have a wonderful Tuesday and hugs!
Gorgeous! This should be in Southern Lady magazine.
Love the colors! Dahlias and zinnias have me swooning.
You amaze me how you have one home run tablescape after another.
Bonnie, you are so sweet! I have to try growing dahlias!
I love the colors on this table. Which came first the flowers or the other pieces? Together all is smashing.
The dahlias were the inspiration…thank you Linda!
Pam, what an absolutely perfect and gorgeous tablescape to usher in the Fall season! I love the salmon color palette mixed with the beautiful dahlias and Tracy Porter dinnerware. You have created another stunning tablescape! Happy Tuesday, sweet friend!!!
Thank you, Shannon! So good to have you back sweet friend!
So, you went to eat at your favorite restaurant and left us hanging….what is the name of said restaurant????
The table is lovely, those vases are so cute. Can you share the source for them? I love everything about your outdoor space, the garden is just gorgeous and inviting. I know you will really enjoy it once the heat of summer has passed. Happy Fall!
Thanks so much, Mildred. Our favorite is Frank Stitt’s Bottega in Birmingham. The vases came from Horchow several years ago and they are Tracy Porter, no longer available but you might find them floating around on the web! Happy Tuesday!
After reading one of your posts on that restaurant I ordered his Italian cookbook for a gift and it was fabulous! Thanks for sharing that. Your table is gorgeous and your gardens must be a delight this time of year! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
I am so glad you ordered the cookbook for a gift. I enjoy both of Chef Stitt’s books!

Thank you for sharing your delightful tablescape. 5 years ago my daughter had a late September wedding and she chose these same vibrant colors for her decorations.
What beautiful colors for a wedding! Thanks so much for all your visits and comments!
What beautiful dahlias! I love the flowers and vases with your dishes. The linens are wonderful, too! Sorry I got here so late. I hope your Tuesday was fabulous. 🙂
Thank you my friend. I have precious friends in St. Maarten that could not get a flight. Would you please pray for them, I am very concerned.
Hello Pam, I love the colour palette and how you gracefully mixed everything . The aqua stemware is something I would never thought of instead it’s perfect. Always something to learn here!!! Love it ?
Ciao
Thanks so much for visiting and for your sweet comments!
Oh Pam! I am just WILD about the hot pink with orange/peach accents in the flowers and plates. That’s a perfect transition table — fall, yes, but a little summer leftover too with the very hot pink! It’s just gorgeous!
Thanks Jeanie!
Such a lovely hello to autumn. Everything is gorgeous and I do love your color choices.
Your dear friends and the beautiful island of St. Maarten are in my prayers.
Thanks so much Sandra and for your prayers!
What an absolutely gorgeous table scape! I love the dishes, placemats and napkins. The mini-vases are so pretty! I just love everything!
Thanks so much, Karenann!
This is such a thoroughly pretty tablescape. The Tracy Porter pieces work so well with the placemats and napkins. It would never have occurred to me to use pink and salmon in a fall tablescape but boy does it work—just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing on Share Your Style
Thanks so much Larr!
Pam, Dahlias are the perfect fall flower! I love your dinnerware and the vases are so pretty. Thanks for sharing with SYC. I’m excited for fall too. We had our hottest summer ever this year.
hugs,
Jann
Prayers and hugs!
Very beautiful! Love the dahlias- wonderful colors and your choice of placemats and dinnerware are such a great tie in. It’s cooled off up here and we’re enjoying the early stages of fall setting in. It’s a bittersweet time mainly because we know winter is next in line and I can do with a lot less of it!
Thank you Liz! We have had two very cool days here with lots of rain and winds from Irma!
Perfection! I’m not too fond of the typical Fall colors, think orange and brown, but this tablescape has a mix of cool and warm tones. So lovely. I love seeing your flowers still blooming in the background too. Hugs, Patti
Thank you Patti and hugs to you!
Such pretty colors! Fall is coming, and I’m happy to see it.
This is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
Thanks so much, Sherry!
This is a beautiful table and your dishes and linens are so suitably matched. It can sometimes be difficult finding linens that go so well with dishware.
Thanks so much for visiting Barbara! Blessings~
Your use of deeper pastels is so pretty on this table and I’m in love with the quilted place mats.
Thanks so much, I have enjoyed the placemats!
This really is stunning. You have a true talent. Your salad plates remind me of the vintage Dorothy Thorpe Persimmon china.
The flowers are so pretty- what a great starting point. Love the dish stack, placemats and napkins- yummy colors!
Thank you Liz!
I do love those plates, and the colors are just perfect for a transitional table. I’m ready – come on, Fall!
Thank you so much Joy!
Pam, I always love your tables and this one certainly does not disappoint. Those dishes, vases, flowers, placemats and napkins are all so beautiful. Thank you.
Barbara, you are so sweet. Have a wonderful week!
