“The Lord is good,
a stronghold in the day of trouble;
he knows those who take refuge in him.”
Nahum 1:7
Welcome sweet friends, I am so honored that you are here. Since we are friends, may I share a little secret? I am as busy as a bee doing something I said would never happen (never say never). Did you guess? I am decorating for Christmas and it is still a week until Thanksgiving. Now let me explain… there is a very good reason. Everyday Living is participating in a Holiday Home Tour Blog Hop on Monday, November 27th! Yikes, that is the Monday after Thanksgiving. Christmas carols are playing, scented candles are burning, and glitter is everywhere! Exhaustion has set in and it is time for a coffee break. Won’t you join me as we revisit some vignettes of Christmas past.
Only first time guests ever use our front door, so decorations are kept minimal. From Our Door To Yours shared our small but festive entrance!
A simple lantern with fresh greenery and a bright red candle is perfect for a porch!
My “Renaissance Man” has been making the Williamsburg Fruit Fan for more than thirty years. You can see his tutorial by clicking the link under the first picture.
The life-size nutcrackers have been a main-stay on our kitchen porch for years! They will be moving this year!
Our son’s childhood wagon and teddy bear visited last year’s kitchen porch!
* Long-time readers know that my Mom was a fabulous crafter. I get misty-eyed each year as I unpack her hand-made ceramics!
The red velvet fudge was a hit with the family! For the recipe click the link on the previous photo.
Festive plaid cup for an espresso!
Paperwhites are a favorite for Christmas…love their scent!
My collection of Radko ornaments has grown over the years!
Old World Santas made by my Mother…
A little peek into the family room!
Who doesn’t enjoy a Christmas tour? This bedroom was a dream!
An Antique bench dressed in silk and packages!
Thank you all for sharing everyday living with me!

Pam, so many pretty Christmas vignettes! I remember the Williamsburg Fruit Fan. It is stunning! I know you must treasure your Mother’s collection of ceramics. What special memories they must hold. I have been busy decorating, too. There is glitter everywhere! Try not to work to hard! Happy Thursday!

Shannon, thank you sweet friend! Decorating and hosting Thanksgiving has me extremely tired! But, I will make it!

I don’t even know where to begin..the Williamsburg fan, the paper whites sitting in such a beautiful arrangement, the Old World Santas made by your beautiful Mother, the wagon and teddy bear in his overalls..your decorations and your words speak of welcome and love to everyone blessed enough to walk through your door. In my childhood home, everyone came to the back door. There is something special about that too. I will anxiously follow your blog hop. A beautiful post!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Dianne, thank you for your sweet comments! They mean so much to me! Have a beautiful weekend!

The Williamsburg fruit fan is so gorgeous, you are so lucky to have such a creative guy in your life! When I saw the schedule for the Holiday Hop I almost pulled out, I will be at the “South Pole” until Dec 1, but I have an idea that I hope works out! I can’t wait to see your home decked out for Christmas, you will be a great kick off to the week! Your Thanksgiving guests might be a little confused however!

Pam, such absolute gorgeousness! I do love the Williamsburg fan. Living about 1 hour away from Colonial Williamsburg for years, it was a place we visited often and especially at Christmas. I have made many Williamsburg type wreaths over the years, but never tackled a fan. Your husband is a talented man.
Also, I do love your mom’s Old World Santas. They are beautiful and I know a treasure to you.
This was an inspiring post, truly puts me in the Christmas spirit.
Have a wonderful day and weekend!

Sandra, I have been to Williamsburg several times, but never at Christmas! I know it is magical! Thank you sweet friend!

It’s so cool to peek into your talents over the years! Decorating for the Christmas season every year can be a challenge for some, but it looks like you have it mastered…down to an art! I LOVE the huge nutcrackers!!! They’re really cool! Fun part of the decorating! Your Mom’s talents with ceramics were amazing!!! Good grief! Perfectly crafted!!! I don’t like to start early decorating either, but it’s often necessary if I want to get it all done. My old body can’t move as fast as it used to! Have a Happy Thanksgiving week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Alycia! I don’t move as fast as I used to! I have to pace myself and take little breaks! Happy Thanksgiving sweet lady!

All of this is so lovely, but the item that catches my eye is the nativity pillow. My late sister also did ceramics, and I have several sets that she painted. I enjoy using anything and everything nativity-related during Christmas, and I would love it if you could share your source for the pillow. Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cheryl, thank you! The pillow was hand-made and the crafter is not going to make any more of them. Happy Thanksgiving!

The best things are always handmade. What a treasure!
