“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!”
Psalms 34:3
Warm greetings sweet friends…and welcome to my first Tablescape of 2018! If you are like me, then your house looks bare after the Christmas decorations are packed away! Extreme cold like we have been experiencing is not my favorite, but I actually don’t mind winter. There’s a stillness about this season and it gives opportunity to think on what is most important! In keeping with the bare landscape of winter, I kept this week’s tablescape simple with subtle touches of green against the backdrop of winter white! Grab a cup of coffee and join me for Winter’s Light!
I love the early mornings when Winter’s Light pours into the dining room!
*
The table is all dressed in winter white except a couple of vases (aka ice cream glasses) filled with seeded eucalyptus and rosemary…heavenly scent!
A quilted runner from Sete, a lovely village in France is the foundation for the centerpiece!
*
*
*The soup tureen, dinner plates, and bowls are “Baroque” by American Atelier.
**
Glassware from Horchow is used often.
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
Proverbs 25:11
Thank you for your sweet visits and comments. They make my day!

I love everything about this, Pam. It’s so very calming and beautiful. The winter light angles, the quilted runner, the winter whites and the greens. I enjoy the bareness after all the decorations are put away, just like in the garden, when all the growth is trimmed back. It feels accomplished and fresh to me.
I so agree Rita! I certainly have gardening on my mind!
An all white table is a fabulous idea! I love that morning light shining through. 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful day.
Thank you Stacey!?
What a beautiful winter’s table! The runner, soup tureen, and fragrant bouquets are just the perfect thing to brighten a winter’s day. I love the beams of light streaming through your room. I hope you enjoy your day and stay warm!
Thank you my sweet friend!?
Absolutely gorgeous, Pam. Love the white and I am especially in love with the beautiful tureen. Truly your table is a tribute to the beauty of simplicity! Have a lovely day and week !
Thank you so much Sandra!
I do the same in January, all the clutter of fall and Christmas is put away, and I decorate with crisp, clean white. Love your table, and I need some of those bowls.
Carole, it is nice to enjoy simplicity!
Thank you for always nice information.
Current Japan time is midnight.
New Year’s Day is a very important day for the Japanese people.
In Japanese, New Year is called “oshougatsu”, and the very first day of the year is called “gantan”.
People decorate their houses with special decorations.
“Kadomatsu”, two groups of bamboo to place in front of the entrance; “shimenawa”, a sacred straw rope to protect the door; and “kagamimochi, round, piled up mochi (rice cakes) to appreciate and eat as a token of wellbeing.
Families with young children often send New Year’s Cards with a family photo or a picture of their children.
Ryoma.
I really enjoyed reading this! My husband lived in Yokosuka as a child. I have a wonderful photograph of his father and the four sons at a ceremony with fish kites. I believe it was a day to honor fathers and sons.
Thank you for sharing Ryoma!
White is so serene on a decorated table . Touches of green give us hope that winter is fleeting and a new season of warmth will come . Your tablescape is so classic . The ivory napkins and napkin rings are too pretty to use !
I enjoy the peacefulness of the winter season . I think it encourages us to contemplate and relax while spending time at home .
I admit though , I do not relish driving in the ice and snow nor how winter can disrupt plans so quickly !
But , I try to remember … only temporary …
Thank you Christine! Our weather has been unusually cold and they are saying possible snow on Friday evening. Winter will eventually give way to spring.
Good morning Pam! First…ROLL TIDE! Wow!!!
Your table is beautiful and calming. It reminds me of one our rare Southern snowfalls where peaks of greenery still show through.
Thank you Roxanne! Snowfalls are rather rare for sure!
Just lovely Pam, you’ve captured the serenity of January, and the filtered sunlight is beautiful! I can’t remember a winter when I have ever been so cold! I do love the way my house looks after the holidays, clean and uncluttered! We are still in shock about the game, I woke up thinking it was all a dream! So proud of Bama!!
Jenna
Thank you Jenna. I just need to get started on projects now that the holidays are over!
This ls lovely, Pam. Very simple and elegant. Clean and uncluttered. Beautiful photos as well. A wonderful representation of winter.
Thank you Jeanie!
How beautiful! Just adorable,love it!Hugs!
You are so sweet Maristella! Hugs
Pam… your table looks stunning. Love the winter light in the photos. The white against those luscious red walls truly makes a statement. Enjoy your week!
Thank you Katie!
Very pretty, Pam. I really like the Baroque by American Atelier. It looks fabulous with your white quilted runner ( I find most runners too long) and pretty tureen. The wonderful light coming in does give your photos a great look. We haven’t had any pretty light lately. We have had cloudy, rainy and dreary days.
I like your table for the new year. The various textures in the dishes, runner and amazing tureen along with the textures of rosemary and ecalyptus compliment each other and make your table have so much interest.
Saturday was a really pretty morning but cold! Dreary and rainy days this week!
Simply beautiful! I love the calming colors for this time of year. I have the bowls but no plates. The rosemary and eucalyptus were perfect with this table. LOVELY!!! I know you are over the moon with the Bama win…it was a great game. I don’t ever remember Nick Saben being so happy.
Thank you Dianne, the American Atelier is my go to so many times! Yes, I was excited over Bama’s win!
So, so beautiful Pam! I knew that the runner was special as soon as I saw it! You certainly created a table that is simply elegant yet a table that you would feel just as comfortable sitting at with your jeans on! 🙂 Hope you are not too cold there!….Temps are climbing here…crazy weather!
Thank you Shirley! Temps have moderated, but it will be cold weekend!
I just arranged my after-Christmas mantel in all-white, so you are speaking my language. The glasses, rosemary, all the little touches add up to a big-impact of beauty!
Thanks Leslie Ann?
What a lovely and serene tablescape, perfect for your cold January. Absolutely love your napkin holders and the tea candle holders that look like your chandelier.
Lovely winter tablescape, Pam. Your tureen is smashing! Thanks so much for partying with us on Share Your Style.

Thank you Ann!
What lovely dinnerware. The soup tureen is wonderful! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
Thank you Sherry, it is always a pleasure!
The light filtering through the napkin is perfect. Your table feels relaxed and one that I could linger at all day. The proverbial icing on the cake is the rosemary and eucalyptus in the goblets. Thank you for sharing with us this week at Celebrate Your Story and we hope you will join us again next week.
Always a pleasure, wishing you better days with your foot!

I just popped over, thank you dear Kathryn!
January, the sweet respite of the year with it’s blustery winds, bone-chilling temperatures, and those God sent snowflakes…all designed, I think, to slow us down, cause us to pause with praise and rejoicing for the gift of stillness and time to just be…in Him. I can picture hours spent at your table over cups of hot tea or hot chocolate, sharing words of encouragement and prayers of thanksgiving and praise. Your table speaks volumes. Thank you for inviting us for a peek. Cherry Kay
Everything is so lovely – the French table runner is gorgeous! Isn’t it wonderful to find the perfect glassware/tumbler? My favorite is a bit more casual, it’s called Whitehall by Indiana Glass. I use them frequently. Your Horchow pieces are lovely!
