“And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
Philippians 2:8
Hello sweet friends! I am always thrilled to welcome you to Everyday Living. Springtime has finally arrived in our Appalachian Foothills! Dogwood trees are in full bloom which always signals that it is the Easter season. Yesterday I decided to cut a few small branches to bring inside. I wasn’t sure where I would place them, I just wanted to enjoy their beauty. However, they landed in the foyer! I didn’t spend time styling, I just placed the dogwood in tall vases on the painted chest. I hope you live where you can personally enjoy their beauty, but if not, I invite you to enjoy the flowering dogwood branches in my home! Be sure to come back tomorrow as Butch will be sharing some special thoughts!
On a trip to the Holy Land, we bought this beautiful signed and numbered print of an artist’s watercolor rendering of the Via Dolorosa. The Via Dolorosa (the sorrowful way) is a street that is within the walls of The Old City of Jerusalem. The Bible does not specifically mention the Via Dolorosa. All we know from Scripture is that Jesus carried His cross from the Praetorium to the site on Mount Calvary where He was crucified.
The blooms of a dogwood resemble a cross. There is a legend about the dogwood tree, but it is only legend!
Thank you for each visit and taking the time to comment. We wish you a joy-filled Easter weekend!

Gorgeous! Every year I grieve over not being in NC to enjoy the dogwood, azaleas and redbuds. It is a time when God is waking up His world from the Winter and they wake up and put on a glorious show in appreciation. The whole world shouts He us risen!

Pam, the dogwood branches are stunning in your entry! My dogwoods are starting to get buds. We have had rain all week, and the same pattern is going to continue next week. We need some sun really bad to help them bloom on out, but I will patiently wait! How wonderful to have that beautiful print from your trip to the Holy Land. I can only imagine how meaningful that trip was. Holy Week is always an important time for our family. I hope that you and your family have a blessed Easter weekend, sweet friend!!!

Pam, I miss the dogwoods we had growing out behind the house from when we lived in the mountains…..and when I see pretty dogwood branches such as yours it reminds me of my sons and a C&W song, called “Mama Don’t Forget To Pray For Me” by Diamond Rio.
My twins would call me after joining the Navy and this song was popular at that time. Perhaps you remember it.
Well hello, it’s good to hear your voice
I hate to call so late, but I didn’t have a choice
I’m calling you from Dallas, headed for L.A.
I wish I had more time to talk, there’s so much to say
No I ain’t forgot how I was raised
But I’m livin’ way too fast
It’s a roller coaster ride, up and down
My new job is going great, I’m headed for the top
I should be happy but somehow I’m not
Sometimes I think the devil has got me by the sleeve
Oh, Mama don’t forget to pray for me
Tell me how is the weather?
Have you put the garden out?
Are the dogwoods bloomin’ out behind the house?
No I’m not sick, there’s nothin’ wrong, don’t wake up Dad
I just thought of you and home and got a little sad.
Oh, Mama don’t forget to pray for me.
I can still cry when I read those lyrics and of course the dogwoods are very special to me too.
Thanks for the memories today.

G’day from Aus.
Autumn here, I’m enjoying Spring through you. Looks lovely.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Does Autumn offer pretty colors in Australia?
Running says
Hi, Pam, it’s Easter Saturday night as I write. It doesn’t snow where I live or get below -1 centigrade usually, so we get some colour, such as in my Japanese maple, or the silver birches turning yellow in the park, etc, but if you want full on colour it’s best to go to the higher places inland . Bright, Harrietville and surroundings is famous for it.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
We have placed our feet on five continents as we have been afforded many opportunities to travel. I don’t think we care to visit Antarctica (too cold), but my husband’s goal is to spend three weeks in Australia. We both have elderly fathers, and don’t need to be gone that long and so far away. Happy Easter!
Running says
The trick is to take a night flight and sleep. You could do it in two weeks. I strongly recommend to OS people to see Uluru and Alice Springs. Of course see our animals. Featherdale Wildlife Park in Sydney has a good selection, of course the unique Sydney Opera House is there.
Avoid February unless you’re coming just to swim , it’s hottest then.
Let me know when you’re coming, if down South, I can meet somewhere.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
My hubby said Alice Springs and Uluru were on his list and of course, Sydney! Thanks for the info.
Running says
Hiring a car at some point is a good idea, but not in the outback if you’re new. Drive along the coast a bit or a little inland and meet the people, the real Australians in the rural areas are friendly and kind. However, we drive on the other side!
Stephanie says
Be still my heart….what lovely photos, dear Pam! We do not have Dogwoods here so it’s always a sweet blessing to see them elsewhere. Thank you for sharing.
May you have a most blessed Resurrection Sunday. Hugs to you!

Beautiful Pam! I love using branches from our place when I can. We lost our dogwood trees many years ago. There was a disease taking them out. I could see them through my windows when they were blooming and miss it so. Yours are beautiful and I know you are enjoying them. Thank you for sharing.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Janet. The dogwoods have been gorgeous this year!

Pam, Dogwood blooms are gorgeous! Seeing them all in full bloom, when we visited a few years ago was breathtaking! They do grow here, but nothing like they grow there. I would like to plant a small one. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
