Hello sweet friends…and welcome back to the garden! I hope you’re all having a great week so far. The humidity was almost unbearable here in our Appalachian Foothills this weekend, but if you’re a gardener, you’ve gotta get out there no matter what! Yesterday was a nice break in the humidity, and the gentle breeze was an added bonus! We spent most of the day in the garden Saturday, and then early evening, I set a table to showcase a lovely bouquet of peonies! Can you believe I haven’t planted peonies yet?! That will be changing for sure! This week’s tablescape is all about the pretty peonies!
Have you noticed my Renaissance Man painted the garden furniture?!!
I am loving it so much, I didn’t even use a tablecloth (it was previously painted black, in case you don’t remember)!
As you can see, I set a very simple table to allow the peonies to be the star!
After I weeded and Butch manicured the garden, I decided the garden would also starring in Tablescape Tuesday.
Rattan chargers help to add texture to the table with chevron napkins supplying color and pattern! Everyday white plates are accented with dressier floral salad plates.
The texture of the grasses provides a pleasing backdrop!
After a delicious dinner in Birmingham on Friday, we stopped at Whole Foods and I made a bee line to the floral department where I immediately spotted these beauties!

It would be hard to choose a favorite flower, but peonies and hydrangeas would definitely be near the top of my list! Do you have a favorite?

Oh Pam ~ you know I love this post. Your table is simply gorgeous and your beautiful peonies are truly the star of the show. They are queen of the flower world in my opinion. I do love your garden table dressed in white. The white seems to show off the lovely design in the iron work. While, I know you will be serving something wonderful, I will be happy to just sit and enjoy your beautiful table, garden and peonies!

Your peonies are Just beautiful Pam…and your scripture today is exactly what I needed to hear.
How smart was Paul in spite of all his trials and tribulations to speak what we should hear…And David echo-ing the sentiment. The Captain and I went to a movie with language that made me cringe…so so not necessary….in fact, there are fewer and fewer movies that we actually want to see these days.
The apostle Paul also said, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:8).
Kari, Amen and amen. For the same reason, we rarely go to movies or even turn on the tv. I want to think on the things that are honorable and praiseworthy. I love that verse you shared with me!
I retreat to those things, but we are also called to evangelise, getting out in the midst of people like Jesus can expose us to things if we like it or not. “Be in the world but not of the world”. Who said that?
It’s a hard road, and only spiritually strong people should undertake it. You have to go out girded with faith. Unfortunately children are encountering the world among their peers, in the media . My daughter goes to a church school, but encounters current pop culture on the school bus for two hours a day. When we enrolled her, the school had a no mobile phones policy, they’ve since retracted that. I argued with the principal about it.

Whole Foods has such beautiful flowers, and you chose some great ones! Amazing how easily they fit with your plates!!! I planted a little tiny scrap of a peony bush 2 years ago that someone gave me. It had about 5 leaves on it, and I didn’t really expect it to live. It came back last year with about 8 leaves on it, but the yard man mowed over it!? This year it came back with about 25 leaves on it. I’m expecting it to take at least 3 more years before it produces any flowers, but it’s fun watching it progress from a “Charlie Brown Christmas tree” state to something that will hopefully be grand over time. Good luck with your planting!!!

Very pretty. I love pink & green together. I am cultivating my first peony from root this year, Pam, and hope to plant it on fall. It’s a much less expensive way to test the waters and see how well it does. I believe bearded irises, though, are my favorite flower. Too bad they don’t last longer!

Yes Pam, Peonies are always the star of the show. However, those gorgeous salad plates take a close second. I have been loving my Peonies. They just don’t last long enough. Love the furniture painted white. So bright and cheery! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
