“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”
Philippians 4:4
Hello dear friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day Celebration. We had so much fun enjoying simple things…grilled burgers, hot dogs, home-made ice cream, and best of all watching Butch, Allison, and Ella Mae play in the sprinkler! Life is truly made of sweet times like these!
It is the first Friday of the month and that means I am joining my sweet friends, Lidy, Mary, and Shirley to bring you Floral Friday. Pour yourself a glass of iced tea and join me in the garden!

Do you ever have a plan and then you totally change your mind? The bright and happy zinnias were calling my name, so I forgot my plan and let serendipity take over!
Be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post and you will find the links for my very talented friends.
Our common theme for this edition of Floral Friday is the use of a pitcher. This is a very sentimental antique milk pitcher that belonged to my paternal grandmother. My aunt said that my grandmother kept her milk in this stoneware vessel and always placed a white cloth over it. She is quite sure it belonged to my great-grandmother. This is the first time I have ever used it for flowers.
I think of zinnias as one of the happiest summer flowers. This colorful bouquet was cut from the garden!
As I was shooting pictures, the bee kept moving from flower to flower!
Limelight hydrangeas provide a pretty background!
I planted a mixture of zinnias which included the Pinwheel…
…Exquisite and Cut and Come Again varieties.
We live in the country on twenty five acres of property (it is still growing). Our house is surrounded by pastures and woods with a view of Lookout Mountain (part of the Foothills of the Appalachians). I never would have imagined myself enjoying the country life, but after thirty nine years, I wouldn’t want to return to city living.
My Renaissance Man’s workshop is visible in the background…when do I get a potting shed?
My long-time friend gave me this antique table years ago. I love how it looks in the garden.
I just had to get a shot of the apricot colored zinnia…so lovely!
There are no instructions needed for this zinnia-filled pitcher, no floral arranging skills are necessary and it only took five minutes to complete. Now be sure to visit my lovely friends.

Pam, I so look forward to anytime I can visit your garden and join you for Floral Fridays! I love the history behind your grandmother’s milk pitcher. It’s beautiful in contrast with your bright and happy zinnias! Every summer when I see zinnias blooming I tell myself I’m planting some next year. I love seeing your limelight hydrangeas in bloom too, ours are a couple of weeks behind yours. How wonderful that you have all that property and privacy…my husband would love that especially with all the development that’s creeping in around us. Happy Friday.♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary. Zinnias are so little trouble for the beautiful blooms they produce. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! ❤️

Zinnias are happy flowers, I agree! I threw some seeds out this year for the first time, and am very happy with the spots of color they’re adding to the bed. I want more!
How special to own your great grandmother’s milk jug!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rita. Zinnias perform well to take so little effort.

Ahh, the gardens of my Floral Friday friends are breathtaking!….What a most beautiful choice to have the colorful zinnias in that beautiful pitcher….I cannot imagine how amazing your property beyond that gorgeous garden must be…and how wonderful that you have been there for most of your married life…I wish I could say the same, but life changes kept us moving…hopefully this upcoming “right sized” home will be our forever home before the nursing home! 🙂 My limelights are just starting to bloom…well those that have survived the pack of deer that came through the other night…with this move, we forgot to spray them….Have a great Friday and weekend Pam…love being a part of Floral Friday with you!!!

Pam, this is so colorful and beautiful! And I recognize the antique table, of course, and I recognized it before you noted it came from a long time friend. Years ago we never knew you would love it so much to keep it this long. I hope that you and all of the family had a wonderful holiday week, although I am sure Hannah and family were missed so much. Our love to all of you.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear friend! I have always loved the table, it is the perfect size. We had a nice 4th. Hope you feel better❤️

The colors are gorgeous, like something out of India. And the rustic pitcher is the perfect base.

Oh Pam – what memories you have given me this morning. Our home in VA. was on 18 acres and we were surrounded by gorgeous fields that seemed to go on forever. I would grow rows of zinnias, actually I bought the seed by the pound. As you can imagine, I had arm loads of them for cutting. And being a West Virginia girl, I had plenty of stone ware crocks and vessels to place them in. I always planted the same variety you planted. I have planted a section of them to bloom in August and September, when the garden is pretty much on its way out. Your arrangement is perfect on the wonderful old table.
Happy weekend to you, sweet friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sandra, thank you for sharing your sweet memories. I think all of us love zinnias. They are easy to grow and have such happy faces and colors! Have a most beautiful weekend sweet friend!

Zinnia’s are happy flowers that remind me of my happy childhood. My mother planted them as well as my grandmother. The old milk pitcher brought back memories of the cloth laid across but I can’t remember the container. I remember my aunt churning butter in the kitchen and berry cobblers baking in the oven. You have sent me back this morning to wonderful memories.
I planted zinnia’s when we lived in Alaska and with the midnight sun they were huge. They were the size of bread and butter plates! Wish I had a picture of the large round arrangement I made for the Officier’s Club. Your arrangement is so lovely sitting on the old table with your beautiful garden in the background. I have a similar desk that was my mother’s.
Lovely post today. Thank you.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Bonnie. I would have loved to see a photo of the Alaskan zinnias. I love when a blog post evokes memories and thanks for sharing yours with me. Happy weekend!

Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers. My grandmother grew them and this year I am for the first time. We won’t see blooms till later in the summer but I’m looking forward to them, though I don’t think they’ll be nearly so lovely as yours!

Jeanie, how exciting that you have planted zinnias. I can’t wait for them to bloom for you!

I finally got me a small cutting garden planted this year and the zinnias are really showing off. I haven’t made as many bouquets as I should have though, and your post has inspired me to do another one immediately when I get home. Your gardens are so beautiful.

The zinnias are so beautiful in this treasured pitcher. The table is perfect in the garden. Mother had saved some seed and I tried to use them but did not work. Your property is amazing and you have so much beauty to enjoy. I believe all you have to do is remind Butch you want your “she shed”. I believe he will be right on that. Floral Friday’s has been one of my favorite things since blogging. Thank you.

Thank you sweet friend. Have a blessed weekend❤️
