“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
Hello sweet friends. If this is your first visit to Everyday Living, let me say welcome and I am so glad you are here. I am joining a group of very talented ladies for a week of alfresco tablescapes hosted by Chloe @ Celebrate & Decorate. You will find all of their links at the bottom of my post.
If you are a regular reader, you know that my spring, summer, and autumn tablescapes almost always take place in the garden. You are invited to join me in the garden for a little Fruit N’ Flowers!

When the weather isn’t so hot and humid, this is my favorite spot for alfresco dining.
The place settings were kept simple so as not to compete with the flowers and fruit.
I used a white cotton tablecloth and added water hyacinth placemats for extra texture.
Using flowers and fruit, I made a table runner that was easy and quick!
The zinnias and sunflowers were cut from my garden. I love this idea because the runner is kept low so it doesn’t interfere with conversation.
For this casual setting, I paired Spode dinner plates from the Blue Room Collection and Bordallo Pinheiro salad plates.
Candlelight and the smell from the citrus fruit added ambiance to the outdoor setting!
Small glass jars made perfect containers for the flowers…
…I save small yogurt jars leaving the cute label intact.
Many years ago, I did some event planning. One of my favorite parties was a Caribbean theme for a client who loved the islands and cruising. I used this idea of a table runner of fruit and flowers for a surprise birthday party for his wife. The wife loved it and it was a beautiful event!
Leaving some of the fruit whole and halving the rest made a pretty presentation!
Vintage linen napkins and flatware…
…and Godinger iced beverage stemware complete the setting.
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
Proverbs 25:11

Your garden is divine and how special to enjoy a lovely tablescape when the weather is perfect and not too hot. Always a pleasure to visit and take in the gardens.
So pretty Pam…your garden is as always…lovely. I am so partial to zinnias and the way you have used them in low containers mixed with whole and halved fruit is genius! I will have to use your table runner as inspiration. You have also given me an incentive to plant limelight hydrangeas but in a pot…as I don’t think they would survive here in the ground. thoughts? It is always such fun to blog hop with you. God Bless you

I love how you used the half grapefruit — I have used fruit in centerpieces before — all the typical ones, lemons, limes, oranges, apples, but never an open grapefruit and it looks wonderfully summery! As always the table is lovely and with zinnias what’s not to love?!
