“As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.”
Proverbs 27:19
Reflections…what does the word mean to you? Webster defines it as the production of an image by or as if by a mirror.
And while mirrors do provide refections, my favorite way to see a reflection is in water. Fortunately for me, our hometown is surrounded by water! Have you ever seen puffy white clouds with bright blue skies that seem to be perfectly symmetrical with the water? What about colorful autumn trees? Or if you live in a big city, those towering buildings that seem to nonchalantly mirror itself in a fountain below?
Something about all of this reminds me to just “be still”.
Another definition by Webster is a thought, idea, or opinion formed or a remark made as a result of meditation. My mind drifted to a line in an old song recorded by Diana Ross and the Supremes… “reflections of the way life used to be.”
I am a very sentimental person, and so many things remind me of the past. Good memories of days gone by, or the not so good memories that have helped shape who I am. Of course I love to think on the former, but both of these kinds of memories take me back to one truth:
God’s goodness remains the same in every one.
Today I have gathered some photos from the archives of reflections and it is my hope that as you scroll through, you will be able to reflect on the goodness of God with me…
…the God who is faithful and unchanging.

Thank you so much. Postcards would be a lovely idea! Happy Labor Day Weekend!
I’m with you! The reflection in my mirror does nothing for me! But reflections of nature and architecture in water make my heart sing. These photos are — as all yours are — spectacular.

WOWWWW!!!Fabulous pictures!Congratulations and thanks for sharing such beauty!Hugs!
Beautiful! In this constantly changing world, it is most wonderful knowing that our living God does not change. It amazes me that some seek religions that change depending on which way the wind blows. I look forward to your post knowing the post will have a biblical verse to sustain us.
Thank you Alice and Amen!
What lovely thoughts and gorgeous photos!

lovely Pam….I was in New York when they had those red glossy ornaments near the waterfall. I believe I have almost the same picture. God’s beauty is all around us if we but take a minute and reflect. Hugs and blessings
Thank you my friend, and Amen!
Thank you Kari. We just have to stop and “be still” to enjoy God’s beauty!
I absolutely love reflections in water! My favorite are the fall trees. We visited New England three years ago in the fall. The reflections were breathtaking! Your last photo reminds me of them. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Jann
Always a pleasure to join SYC!

Thank you Bonnie. Happy Labor Day!
Oh my, what an amazing collection of pictures. What a wonderful reminder that we are to be a reflection of God’s Son to all those around us. Thank you for this today.
Thank you Libby. Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!
These pictures are absolutely stunning & definitely reflective!
Also a great morning to reflect on them and put me in a reflective mood myself.
Makes me think of Proverbs 27:19 – about how water reflects the face and our hearts reflect the man ( how we really are )!
Thanks for the reminder!
Thank you Esther!
Pam, these are absolutely stunning! In this season of God pulling us aside to “rest awhile,” I think often of when Jesus saw how exhausted His disciples were and how they didn’t even have time to eat, and He pulled them aside. It is in these types of seasons that I most reflect and lately, I have been pleading with God to search me and reveal anything that is not like Him. Looking into the mirror of His Word, I fall so short, and I want my reflection to look like Jesus ~ I am such a long way off, but as He deals with me each day, I have hope in HIS power to transform. I loved this post, and the beautiful photos surely made me think of spiritual things. Thank you for sharing this.
Cheryl, I too have hope in His power to transform. Blessings sweet friend!
I enjoyed these photos very much – how gorgeous! xx Maria
