Tablescape Tuesday: Pure Pleasure

October 16, 2018~ Autumn, Food & Entertaining, Tablescape Tuesday

“Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25:12‬ ‭

Happy Tuesday dear friends! I hope you are having a wonderful autumn week so far. We finally have cooler temperatures that feel like fall and I am loving it! It was pure pleasure to set up this tablescape in the garden late Saturday afternoon with a fall breeze blowing and low humidity!

After Saturday morning brunch with a precious friend, I made a quick dash to TJ Maxx and of course, I found something. This lovely plaid tablecloth (at a ridiculously low price) just jumped into my cart.

The dough bowl is a special hand-made gift from a dear friend of our family that passed away several years ago. He made it for my Mother and I cherish it and the sweet memories that go along with it.

Vintage napkins that are perfect for a fall tabletop!

I gathered pumpkins, seed pods, and dried sunflowers to fill the bowl. I love a centerpiece that is made with what I have on hand and easy to assemble…the no fuss kind!

I was smitten when I saw these Williams Sonoma Harvest Pumpkin salad plates with their brown/black background and vibrant pumpkins and fruit. I tried to talk myself out of them, but with a 25% off sale it was a no brainer. There are four different patterns…this one is a white Cinderella pumpkin with apples…

…a striped pumpkin with pears…

…a pumpkin with mini pumpkins…

..and my favorite one with figs! I purchased these for my Thanksgiving table, but I had to go ahead and use them! I already have many sets of dishes, so I normally just purchase salad plates which are less expensive and take up less storage space.

*

The amber stemware graces many fall tables. It was purchased years ago at a local department store in a box set of 12 and do I ever miss that wonderful store that closed its doors!

*

The dinner plates are “baroque” by American Atelier and they are still available at Horchow.

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25:11‬ ‭

Thank you sweet friends for all of your visits and comments! Wishing y’all a beauty-filled autumn day!

Beautiful autumn table Pam. Love those WS dishes. I’ve been eyeing them but haven’t made the purchase yet. I especially enjoyed the center arrangement- that dried sunflower really created a great look. The amber stemware is perfect for this time of year. It is sad when these favorite stores close and there have been too many. Have a beautiful week!

Just beautiful Pam! I couldn’t resist those WS salad plates either, perfect for fall or Thanksgiving. I love your easy ‘no fuss’ centerpiece and especially the addition of the dried sunflowers. I’m always amazed at affordable price of tablecloths at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. We had the same wonderful fall weather this past weekend but warmed back up yesterday. Cooler temps are back on the way later in the week, yay 🙂 Look forward to seeing you Friday. ♥

Love the salad plates, but what I love even more is the justification used for buying them, lol. I’m so proud of myself for emptying a tub FULL of dishes a week ago (donated). It leaves room for lots of salad plates. hehe Happy Tablescape Tuesday, Pam!

Thanksgiving shouldn’t be just one day but everyday. Therefore using the WS salad plates were not used early, to my way of thinking, but rather because it’s a day to give thanks. My foot fetish has turned into a plate fetish because wearing high heels at this age is asking for trouble. There are so many lovely plates to choose from these days but storage has forced me to slow down on getting them. The closet that holds my tablecloths was full also so recently a gave some of them away to my nail tech. She was thankful as she is helping to raise her sons stepchildren and teaching them how to behave at a well dressed table. God bless her and all the people that bring the children to a table to sit and eat with family.

Amen Alice. Thanksgiving is every day. I couldn’t help but laugh about the shoe fetish turning into a plate fetish. We are so similar. I have always loved shoes and wore high heels all my life until about two years ago, and I suddenly felt like I couldn’t walk in them. I am short and I always thought the heels were a plus for me. I guess now I just buy plates instead of shoes!

Love the heirloom handmade dough bowl and how you styled it.
It is foggy and warm today here. We received a hard downpour last night just as a meeting I helped host was starting. People had to wait in their cars.

My grandmother used for years and then I winded up with it. Love your tablecloth too! Hugs and blessings to you dear Pam. P.S. I ordered the The blessing jar book and it came in yesterday. You have a special personal taste that excites me, the combination of this so relaxing and beautiful table makes me happy.

My inspiration for teatime is the beautiful linens from @april.cornell With the celebration of their 50th anniversary, many Heritage Prints from the archives have returned. Eden is one of the beautiful patterns that has returned. It is a soft purple paradise where butterflies float, roses bloom, and soft sage leaves levitate. As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I was gifted these gorgeous linens! I have been a collector of @april.cornell linens for many years…the floral patterns resonate with my love of English Country.

I am serving my favorite, Earl Gray tea, from an Eileen’s Reserve teapot. Teacups by Grace Teaware and vintage Rose Chintz salad plates by Johnson Brothers add more floral patterns to the mix. Japanese Magnolia blooms were cut from my garden and placed in a lilypad teapot!

Mary @ homeiswheretheboatis.net and I welcome Nancy @nance_endless_summer as our special guest! LINK in bio for the blog posts. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of s Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of spring and looking forward to our garden awakening, I planted a blooming bulb garden in my Sunshine Cottage! The butcher block countertop under a window, was a perfect place for a mini garden. Muscari, hyacinths, tulips, and daffodils danced in the sunlight and filled the cottage with an amazing fragrance!

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage whe Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy on this cold February day. It is Tea on Tuesdays and I have set a tea table with the “Blue Roses” collection that was a collaboration between @victoriamagazine and @april.cornell The exclusive porcelain pattern and matching linens have been used many times and I still enjoy their blue and white beauty. Instead of fresh flowers, porcelain ones require no arranging. Sweet treats pair perfectly with a traditional English Breakfast tea. Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! You are invited to join me and my Monday Morning Blooms friends, Lidy @frenchgardenhouse Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatsis.net by clicking the LINK in my bio!

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluf Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluffing for Valentine’s Day! For many years my Sweetheart and I have celebrated February 14th at home where it is quiet, no reservations are required, and we always have a table by the window!

I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate! I am a huge fan of mixing colors, patterns, and textures for a collected look.

I have joined 17 table stylists for a Valentine’s Day Blog Hop. Click the LINK in my bio to see all of the Valentine inspiration!

Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I am serving my favorite tea, Earl Grey, in the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy! The magic of dancing sunlight enhances the table that is dressed with a warm tartan plaid throw repurposed as a tablecloth! ‘Winter Fauna’ bird salad plates from Pottery Barn (many years ago and now discontinued) remind me of the birds I watch from my kitchen window during the winter season. The Grace Teaware set adds more blue and white to the Spode ‘Blue Room’ dinner plates. Sweet treats were placed on a stack of Bordallo Pinheiro plates! A darling Hummel ‘Icy Adventure’ depicts a scene of an outdoor frozen pond with a pair of sweet ice skaters, a rosy cheeked boy and girl who have fallen down on the ice.
