“with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:2-3
Hello dear friends! Can you believe we are already in November, it seems impossible. I am so glad you are here because it is the first Friday of the month which means I am joining my blogging friends for another edition of Floral Friday! If you are here by way of Shirley, Mary, or Lidy, welcome to Everyday Living. I hope you have time to stay and visit as we celebrate a time of harvest.
Our common theme for today is harvest. What do you think of when you hear that word? I immediately think of the time of the year when you gather crops that are mature or ripe. I think about my grandparents who planted and harvested everything by hand. They depended on the harvest to feed their eight children through the long winter months. I also think of the laws of the harvest that are found in scripture, “you will reap what you sow.” Harvest always reveals what we have sown, whether naturally or spiritually. The celebration of harvest is a time to thank God for His blessings and His bountiful provisions.
My photo reminds me of a still life painting that I have hanging in a hallway.
You will find the links for each of my talented friends at the bottom of this post.
Growing up and living in the Deep South, farming is a common sight around our country home. A couple of nights ago, we could hear the farm equipment well after dark as they were trying to harvest the cotton before the rain. Our son, (Appalachian Digital Media), recently captured this shot of cotton harvest not far from our home. I cannot imagine how back breaking it must have been to harvest cotton by hand.
The autumn harvest brings an array of fruits and vegetables to our table. The first year I hosted Thanksgiving, my centerpiece was placed in an old wooden bowl and was filled with autumn’s bounty!
For a no fuss centerpiece, a bowl, basket, or tray can be filled with fresh fruit and veggies and it provides not only a natural and stunning display, but you then have the bonus of eating the centerpiece. Now that is a win-win!
Rather than placing the tray on the dining room table, I decided to place it on the coffee table in our family room.
With this easy harvest centerpiece, I was now prepared for a friend or friends to drop in for coffee and perhaps a pumpkin muffin or cranberry scone.
On Tuesday, My Renaissance Man planned a wonderful birthday dinner in Birmingham at Bottega. This made it convenient to stop by Whole Foods for quality organic produce…Gala apples, Bosc pears, California red grapes, mini pumpkins, French radishes, sweet carrots, an October artichoke, and a healthy red pomegranate. Three small persimmons from our tree (most had fallen on the ground for the little critters) were added to the autumn fruits and veggies!
One of my newly acquired velvet Hot Skwash pumpkins was placed with a couple of little rustic pumpkins for that casual/elegant look!
I so enjoy having friends sit around the coffee table for sweet times of fellowship and treats. This is an easy way to entertain during the busy holiday season and to celebrate the blessings of harvest.
I did add roses to the tray of fruit and vegetables after all, it is Floral Friday! Seriously, fruit or vegetables, or the combination make an easy presentation for the table..it takes so little time and effort.

Pam, I’m always in for a treat when I’m invited into your beautifully appointed family room! I feel like I opened a copy of Traditional Home Magazine as I ooh and ahh over your wonderful rug, fabrics and accessories. I’d love a closer peek at what’s in your beautiful armoire (I’m nosy like that 🙂 and your handsome grandfather clock!
My grandparents lived in Mississippi with cotton fields and pasture all around as far as the eye could see. I remember visiting them as a girl and seeing all the workers in the fields stooped over and picking and working the cotton in the heat and humidity…back breaking and sweltering work for sure.
Your harvest tray is beautiful, delicious and healthy…a winning trifecta! Thank you for another beautiful Floral Friday. It’s always a treat to start my Friday mornings with you.♥

Your harvest tray is a bountiful display of God’s creation and provision for us. How appropriate to artfully display the blessings of food and beautiful roses. The colors, textures, and shapes wet my appetite thinking of the tastes and smells of these fruits and vegetables.
Harvesting cotton is another reminder of God’s provision for clothing. There is nothing more comfortable than natural cotton fabric! It is a beautiful site. How nice Seth records this process for all to enjoy.

I thought your velvet & rustic pumpkins were real until you said otherwise Pam…lol…oh dear…
When I think of harvest, two images come to mind; my late husband working on the harvester bringing the crops in & how the harvest is ready & ripe for Jesus 😀
