“Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.”
Psalms 119:111
Good Monday morning to all of you! We have had two glorious days of sunshine and it just makes me feel better after all the dark and rainy days we’ve had! You know one thing that always helps brighten the day and bring a little “happy” despite the rain? Flowers! I am here with my creative blogging friends to bring you the first Monday Morning Blooms of 2019! You will find us together the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month! If you are new to Everyday Living, I am so glad you are here and I am extending you a big warm welcome!
Who doesn’t feel special when someone prepares a breakfast tray just for you?! It is even nice to make one for yourself!
You can find all of the links for my friends’ floral inspiration at the bottom of my post.
There is something about a silver tray that just elevates a cup of tea and a blueberry muffin!
With a tray comes the idea of a leisurely and relaxing time, naturally one needs some lovely magazines to peruse!
Our challenge for this Monday Morning Blooms was to use only one type of flower. And believe me, this was quite a challenge, living in a smaller town after the holidays!
After shopping several grocery stores, I found these beautiful pink and raspberry carnations, perfect for my Wedgwood pitcher.
The carnation is a species of dianthus and is most often overlooked when choosing flowers. They have charming qualities such as their ruffled petals, wide array of colors, longevity as a cut flower, and very reasonably priced. They are the January birth flower and they also make a beautiful bouquet. I was reading that their fragrance is clove-like, and I had never thought of that, but they do smell similar to cloves.
The tray with the sweet and feminine carnations was placed on the guest room bed. I wasn’t expecting guests, but I couldn’t help but think of my dear friend, Patti. This tray was assembled as I was reminiscing of our almost forty-five years of friendship. She loves fresh flowers, the color blue, a pretty teacup, and sterling…it fits her to a “tea”! And she and I would never turn down a delicious muffin. The cup and saucer were gifts from her many years ago.
I am more of a coffee drinker than tea, but since the holidays I have been enjoying a cup of Earl Grey with a twist of orange.
The bouquet was very easy to make. I assembled it in my hand until it was pleasing to my eye and then into the pitcher it went. It should last a week or more, that is a lot of bang for the buck!
Here are the links for the beautiful florals that my talented friends have created.

Your breakfast tray is one of life’s simple pleasures Pam! I love your pretty teacup and beautiful Wedgwood pitcher filled with those beautiful ruffled carnations, served on your silver tray. Carnations are such a long-lasting flower and your vibrant bouquet is perfect for chasing away the January blues! I hadn’t thought about their fragrance being clove-like, I’ll have to do the sniff test on my flowers this morning. 🙂 I’m more of a morning coffee drinker but an afternoon tea drinker this time of year. I’ve been enjoying my Tea advent calendar, I got it as a gift. I received it after Christmas but it’s been a treat sipping my way through the month. Thank for the flower therapy this morning. It’s always a treat to start my day with your beautiful blooms. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, after reading that little info on the clove-like scent of carnations, I immediately gave mine the sniff test and I agree!
Rita C. says
What nice and suggestive sentiments woven through your arrangement, Pam! Pinpointing the aroma of the carnation is a fun fact. Sometimes it’s hard to accurately identify fragrances, and though I’d never read clove as the word, it certainly fits the carnation. And I can almost taste the blueberry muffin and the tea with its twist of orange! A very nice Monday morning combination you have there!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I would have never thought of a carnation having the subtle scent of cloves, but now I smell it!
Maureen says
A wonderful way to wake up a dreary day! The combination of the carnations and Wedgwood vase is very pleasing! Then to have tea and muffin is the finishing touch. Now if only I could reach out to sip the tea and eat the muffin!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Maureen. Wishing you a wonderful week!

Your bouquet of carnations adorning that gorgeous silver tray reminds me of my childhood of wanting and loving carnations on my birthday as it was my “birthday flower”….Going forward, I am going to use carnations more often in my home. Now that you have mentioned it, I don’t think I have ever paid much attention to their subtle scent…Your carnation bouquet in your exquisite Wedgwood pitcher, the charming delicate tea cup, truly sets the tone for your beautiful “tea party” with a friend. I am with you, I am a big coffee drinker, but it is so nice to have a great cup of tea in a pretty cup in the afternoon to relax and smell the tea! Love sharing Monday Morning Blooms with you! Have a fabulous day!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Shirley. I look forward to a cup of tea this afternoon!
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
A lovely post with beautiful flowers in a gorgeous pitcher. I love absolutely everything about it. From the beautiful blue toile to the copy of “Victoria,” I would love to be a guest, enjoying such a special tray.
Have a wonderful week, my friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much my friend! ??
Margo says
Such a nice post, all the more relevant for using the flower of the month! I love the way you’ve put together the different patterns of china. At this time of year I justify money spent on fresh flowers when grocery shopping because there are no “goodies” in the basket. Time to use flowers instead of food to soothe the soul.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Margo, what a great thought, flowers instead of food to soothe the soul. There are no goodies here, had to stop that! Thank you so much for your visit!
marmeladegypsy says
Seeing your carnations int he Wedgewood mug inspires me to not just be inspired but COPY! I have that very tankard and its so darned pretty with the carnations. I love them because they are gently fragrant, not overwhelming, which kicks me into lung issues. So pretty with your tea cup!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Jeanie. I have asthma, so I have to be very careful about what comes into my house. Happy Monday!
Patti Fralix says
Pam, How special for me to be named in this beautiful post; thank you! I would love to be there to share the cup of tea, blueberry muffin, and long conversation. I love everything about this post! Mike and I are at the airport headed to NYC (yes, again!) and I so wish you were going with me! We do need to make it a priority to go to NY together soon. Love you lots!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I am so glad that you read the post this morning. I really thought of you the entire time I was staging it. How I wish I could be in NYC with you. Have fun and safe travels!
Bonnie Morgan says
Stunning breakfast tray. I love your Wedgwood pitcher full of two shades of carnations. The raspberry and pink shades compliment the lovely tea cup so beautifully.
I’ll have to try a twist of orange in my tea. Accompanied by a blueberry muffin and Victoria magazines sounds like a beautiful start to the day.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much dear Bonnie! I really like the orange better than lemon!
the Painted Apron says

Sharon
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sharon, thank you and I know your bridal bouquet was gorgeous!
Chloe Crabtree says
Oh, how lovely a breakfast tray is, and your carnations are just lovely. So many people knock carnations as a “cheap” flower an pooh, pooh it, but I love the texture, the fullness and the fragrance! Nice job!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Chloe! Happy Monday!
Liz @ Home and Gardening With Liz says
Your arrangment on the silver tray is so pretty and inviting. The Wedgwood pitcher is a beautiful vessel for the carnations. I grow dianthus in my garden and hadn’t connected it with carnations but I have often said they smell like carnations! Carnations are a good long lasting flower and will often be the last ones that survive in an arrangement. I am a coffee drinker too but like iced tea frequently. I can’t help but make note that your bedding is lovely!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Liz! Carnations are under appreciated, but they are a flower that keeps giving!
Nancy says
Oh Pam… I would love being a guest at your home. Silver trays filled with pink blossoms, muffins and tea served in such a lovely tea cup! I’ve gone to heaven!

Pam… your breakfast tray is so lovely. If I saw that tray coming my way, I would never get out of bed!! Btw… love your bedding as well. Enjoy your week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so kindly Katie. Happy Monday!
Roxanne says
I am definitely going to be copying your color combo. It is stunning in the Wedgewood. I love the spicy aroma of carnations (and pansies), and carnations last for weeks. A florist gave me a tip years ago to gently run your fingers through the bloom to totally open it up. What a feast for the eyes this morning, sweet Pam!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne. Carnations are a great go-to flower and are usually available! Happy Monday!

Pam, Love your beautiful breakfast tray. I have a silver tray with tea pot, creamer and sugar dish that my best friend gave to us when we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. That seems so long ago. The beautiful flowers just add to the warmth of your tray. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a muffin and coffee on your beauty! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Cindy. Happy Monday! xoxo

Clara, you are such a sweetheart! Happy Monday!
Dolores Velasco says
My dear friends Pam and Butch, happy new year!
I am already at home and now in the serenity of my house I can comment on the beautiful things that they show us.
A very appetizing breakfast, I love tea.
I argue that a breakfast has to be beautiful, that makes it more appetizing.
In the comment on the carnations I will tell you that in Andalusia it is the flower par excellence and, certainly, they smell like cloves and, in general, they put some clove seeds in the pot to enhance the smell.
Cordoba has a reputation for large carnation gardens … it is very beautiful.
And with these very appetizing things, I wish you all the best and I send you a big hug.
Dolores

Your silver tray and wedgewood vase on your toile bedding (I’m swooning over this combination) is a perfect background for your flowers! It inspires me to go get some carnations!! I’m a tea drinker and my favourite is earl gray but I’ve never tried it with orange…which I must do!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Raylene, try the orange and I think you will like! Have a wonderful week.
Kari says
Yes! Please and thank you! What a wonderful way to start the day and I LOVE a twist of orange in my hot tea.
The breakfast tray is beautiful… dear Pam, and the carnations are perfect in their various shades. You have such a talent for vignettes and this one is no exception. Calming and relaxing for a peaceful “quiet time”! Hugs always!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Kari. You are so sweet to comment❤️
Donna Oliphint says
Your guest room is beautiful, as is the breakfast tray. I have a set of china in the pattern of your teacup and saucer. It sets a very pretty and feminine table. I use King’s Crown ruby-flashed thumbprint glasses and salad plates with it–the same glassware my grandmother had. Last year my aunt left me some of her sherbert glasses!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you for your visit, Donna. I would love a set of china in the teacup pattern. Your setting sounds so lovely!
Tea With Jennifer says

Pam, this is so very lovely. I love tea for one, but agree that it’s better to share the delight with a friend. How lovely that this tray has so many beautiful memories of your darling friend. Isn’t it such a blessing to have life long girl friends? I wish we could share a cup or twenty of tea. I love being part of Monday Morning Blooms with you. Xoxo Lidy

Thank you Lidy, twenty or more would be perfect❤️

Hi It’s Kristina from Sundays at Home. The flowers are absolutely gorgeous! Plus, Earl Grey is a great choice for tea, although my personal favorite is mint with lavender. The tray looks amazing!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Kristina. Mint with lavender sounds perfect!
Maria says
Fabulous! This tray fis me to a tea as well! Carnations are my birth flower, and I really like them. I read once that Princess Grace of Monaco loved carnations and their petals were scattered in the bowls of restroom toilets whenever she gave a party. Your Wedgwood vase is stunning with the flowers. Really, everything about this tray and the Guest Room setting is just perfect.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Maria. What a fun tidbit about Princess Grace.
Barbara at Mantel and Table says
Both the tray and the flowers are so beautiful Pam! I love carnations! Hope you have a lovely Monday!
