“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
Psalms 90:12
Happy Thursday sweet friends! I hope that you all are having a good 2019 so far, sticking to your resolutions, and of course staying warm! With highs only in the forties yesterday and today, it definitely feels like January! I can’t complain because the sky has been sunny and blue! We have swapped things up a bit this week here at Everyday Living. You might have noticed that there was no Tablescape Tuesday…I’ve had a busy week and I ran a little behind! So, this week we are having a Tablescape Thursday! If you saw my Monday Morning Blooms post, today’s post might look a little familiar. The carnations I used are once again making an appearance! Pull up a seat at our simple table for four!
After all the the glitz of Christmas decor, I am in the mood for less. I know this will change, but I will enjoy the simplicity while it lasts.
The “Monday Morning Blooms” Wedgwood pitcher of carnations was repurposed for the tabletop!
The dinner plates are “Baroque” by American Atelier. I am asked about them often, the last time I checked they were still available at Horchow.com. The Barretts salad plates were a find back in the early fall at a local antique and vintage mall. I first used them here.
The petite Wedgwood pitcher was also a find at the same antique and vintage mall. One of my sweet readers from Madrid, Spain sent me some interesting info on carnations. Dolores wrote me that in Andalusia carnations are the flower par excellence. She said they smell like cloves and, in general, they put some clove seeds in the pot to enhance the smell. I tried it and it works! She said, “Cordoba has a reputation for large carnation gardens … it is very beautiful.” Thank you Dolores for letting my readers and myself know how appreciated carnations are in your country!
I am enjoying the wall color change in my dining room. I must say it has been more of a challenge to photograph!
The quilted runner was purchased in Sete, France a few years ago. It has served me well and is often used.
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
Proverbs 25:11
The crocheted napkin rings are a precious treasure from a beloved friend of my mother’s. Mrs. Ruby was a jewel of a lady!
Everyday stainless graces my simple table!

Wishing everyone a joy-filled day!

I love this table, Pam. It is simple yet elegant. Delicate and beautiful the blue and white dishes and the idea to match them with the pink carnation is great! Have a beautiful week end ?
Thanks so much Gisella. I am enjoying the simplicity of January!
Oh, so lovely, Pam. I really like the new DR color too!
Thank you Rita!
The color of your dining room is beautiful, it almost has a chameleon quality depending on the colors of your table setting and the light. Mrs. Ruby’s napkin rings are a precious treasure. It is unfortunate that beautiful arts and crafts projects have become a lost art amongst the younger generations. Stay warm Pam!
Good morning Roxanne and congrats to Clemson, we were beaten really bad and embarrassed! Thank you so much and we have lost so many of the crafts of bye-gone days. Why did I never learn to needlepoint or crochet? I guess it is never too late. Have a wonderful Thursday!
I love the new wall paint. The art is beautiful placed there. It just pops and the chandelier also. Eembroidery was the first hand work my mother taught me, then candle wicking, cross stitch and needlepoint. She left us all of her pieces , some framed, some as chair covers and others used on pillows. She made most of my clothes. The slips I wore had lace and pleats and deep hems. Sad to think I have only a few of those pieces left.
Alice, how wonderful that you learned the hand work that seems to almost be a lost art. I use to cross stitch and stitched many pieces for friends. I would still love to needlepoint. I wished you lived closer so you could teach me.
I love this table setting. The blue and the white are a perfect combination! I love your wall color. Can you tell me the name and brand again? Thanks!
Thank you so much Penny. It is Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore
Thanks!
Oh Pam, it is beautiful, simple and very fresh. And I do love those carnations in Wedgewood!
Thank you Jeanie, I am enjoying January simplicity!
Pam your taste is always exquisite and I adore the carnations. I have always loved them since that song “a white sports coat and a pink carnation”…ohhhhhhh I’m dating myself. LOL Your dining room color couldn’t be more perfect. Hugs my sweet friend.
Kari, how well I remember that song. Thank you dear friend!
Good morning Pam-The tablescape is simply beautiful and perfect for January. I love the napkin rings and it is such a treasure to have handmade items from someone so special. I love the twin metal floral pieces on the table runner as well. Your walls really pop in this post & the color is so soothing. Happy Thursday! Clara
Thank you dear Clara. I do treasure the napkin rings with so many fond memories of the special lady who made them for me. Have a wonderful weekend❤️
So so pretty. I love that one little pop of pink in the flowers.
Simply and simplistically beautiful!
Thank you Libby!
Oh, Pam, gorgeous. I could gaze for hours at your beautiful new room. The color is outstanding and everything is a piece of jewelry for the room. The medallion over your chandelier is gorgeous. Our old home has hand crafted medallions in three rooms.
Your table is so pretty and the napkin rings are lovely. I know you treasure them. A lovely winter post. Hope you are enjoying these days. Happy weekend to you, dear friend.
Thank you Sandra. I actually like the quietness of January, even though today is rather windy and chilly. Happy weekend to you my friend!
Oh, my! It is ALL so lovely! But, my favorite part is that amazing quilted runner! I love the simplicity of the white and way it looks so feminine and dainty. Your home is just so amazing, and it absolutely looks like a magazine. SO, so beautiful and so a joy to come here and enjoy with you! Thank you so much for sharing your gifts and lovely home and talents with us!! God bless you, sweet friend. 🙂
God bless you my sweet friend. I love all of your visits.
This lovely table is both pretty and elegant. The beautiful quilted runner is a perfect anchor to the gorgeous carnations. I think Mr. Bleu and I are going to have a painting party in the dining room this weekend. I am looking forward to the transformation. Your dining room is breathtaking!!! Happy Thursday, sweet friend!!!
Thank you Shannon! Enjoy your party?
Simple it may be, but your table has a sophisticated feel. It is always a gift to visit and see what is happening in your world.
I always enjoy your visits!
Amazing…So elegant!Hugs!
Thank you Maristella!
It is simple but sophisticated, simply beautiful.
Thanks so much for your visit Karen!
Your tablescapes are always so lovely and inspiring. You bring color and joy into my dreary, grey, winter, Michigan morning.. I love the color of your walls. I especially enjoy your posts because of your beautiful, traditional, timeless style since I am not a fan of the all white, farmhouse trend.
Thanks so much for your kind comment. I try to stay with timeless, because it is what I love. Stay warm!
Pam everything is so lovely. The flowers especially the Carnations are beautiful.
HAPPY BLESSED 2019
Marilyn
Thank you Marilyn and Happy New Year!
I love your Wedgewood items. They are so unique.
HAPPY,BLESSED NEW YEAR
Thanks so much Marion. Happy 2019!
So pretty Pam! Those flowers look even more beautiful with the pretty blue walls. I like how light and fresh your table looks. I wish I could say we’ve had blue skies but lately it seems like they are gray more than blue! We’ve been down in the 20’s lately so being in the 40’s would be warm to us!
Thank you Liz. There isn’t any sun for us this weekend just a cold rain. Stay warm!
I like the simplicity Pam! Your french table runner is beautiful!
You have inspired me so much that I have included my own photo shoot this week on “Ages & stages” …planning more in the future! Thank you for your inspiration. ♥
Blessings,
Jennifer
Thank you Jennifer. You are so gracious!
Just beautiful Pam especially your opening photo! I’m loving your new wall color and how your art work and table pops now! Happy Weekend ♥
Thank you Mary. Stay warm and cozy this weekend!
Pam, I so enjoyed the full view of your Dining Room. It is so elegant and beautiful. I loved your red room so much but I have to say this blue is peaceful and so elegant. This might be considered a simple tablescape but it is quite elegant.
Thank you my friend!
My dear friend, the result of this table you show us is fantastic.
A very beautiful, serene, elegant color predominates in the set and I make a special mention to the dishes, they are beautiful.
I smile with your comment about the carnations and I will try to make a publication about them. Some time ago I made a series called “Floral Gallery”, but it never occurred to me to talk about carnations, so I will, but I will focus on the use and importance in Spain. You could say that it is the national flower, they are used by different AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITIES and Madrid is one of them where it is also very appreciated.
Dolores
Abrazos, Pam
I love seeing your pretty blooms in the gorgeous blue pitcher again Pam, and yes they deserve their very own tablescape!! Dreading the weekend after such a beautiful sunny week!
Jenna
Thank you Jenna. It is very gloomy here this morning and Imam sure the rain is soon to follow. It is a good day to read and drink coffee.
A table I would be happy to sit down to a meal at. I am like you, after all of the holiday decor, it is nice to live more simply for a bit. I always enjoy your lovely dining room and this elegant setting is no exception.
Thanks so much Chloe. Enjoy the weekend!
Dear Pam, I love your simple but elegant tablescape ! White is always so perfect for Winter-January and your plates are just the right choice, and your centerpiece is lovely on the adorable Wedgwood small pitcher. Your white quilted runner is swoon !
Your dining room is gorgeous too, my fav place in any home.
Have a terrific year my friend.
Fabby
What a gorgeous dining room and table!! My decorating taste is so similar! I love it! I haven’t yet got on the farmhouse bandwagon. As much as I like touches of farmhouse, I still love my mansionesque style. lol. Beautiful! Saw your post at Inspire me Tues party:)
Thank you so much, I am definitely traditional with a twist of English country!
Simply elegant!!
