“…yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”
James 4:14
Happy Thursday to everyone! We recently attended Butch’s 50th High School Reunion. The decor, food, and fellowship were fabulous. I wanted Butch to share a few thoughts with you, so here we go !
High School days seem to create memories that are very unique as compared to other life events and experiences !
With an even number of “boys and girls”, 16 of the 29 who graduated in my class were able to attend our reunion last weekend. Three or four that had planned to come but had to cancel for various reasons. Not a bad percentage considering!
I see Woodstock on this plaque which means that event is coming up on 50 years in August. A few of us decided we would drive to New York and attend Woodstock. It is probably a good thing that between all of us, we didn’t have enough funds to get there and had to turn around and come home !
The Gaston red and white was on display everywhere. Thanks to a classmate and his dear wife, the decor, memorabilia, and food were totally awesome!
I was really reluctant to set my plate down on top of this but the need to indulge in all the wonderful food won out !
A sweet loving memory indeed. Gail was a dear friend. We were co-editors of the school newspaper our Senior year. Larry and Bill played with me in my band. So many fond memories and stories about times with these two!
When you have this many dessert choices, the only right thing to do is try them all !
If it says “red velvet” it gets my attention…
The problem however is that if it says chocolate it also gets my attention !
At first it appeared that the cake was so pretty that we would only be allowed to look and not touch. Finally our class president took control and put a knife to it (and none too soon)! It was every bit as good as it looks.
One of these guys I do see on occasion, but I had not seen the other two since the last reunion 10 years ago !
The color theme, dominated by red and white, was present throughout the room.
One of the guys remembered I sang at our graduation. I was surprised he remembered and even recalled the song ! I know a group called the Four Freshmen recorded it and probably others also. It went something like:
It’s a time for joy
A time for tears
A time we’ll treasure
Through the years.
We’ll remember always
Graduation Day
We know what you are thinking…they look just like they did in High School!

I absolutely love looking at this! The couple who did the decorations and food truly did an outstanding job!! I especially liked the sign with everything 1969…Build Me Up Buttercup is now stuck in my head. You two teeny boppers are such a cute couple! When I attended my 30th reunion, I thought “who are all these old people?” My 50th is next year. Yikes!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, I thought the same thing at my 40th! The couple that hosted has a barn and it was perfect for the reunion. I won’t have my 50th until 2022.

You had fabulous food and decorations. Congratulations. We had our “50th” last year as the Class of 68.
Loved thinking about the old songs.
This milestone does cause some reflection. Boy, the time passed quickly.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Bonnie, and yes time passes so quickly!

Looks like a lovely time and some wonderful ideas that I may share for our red-and-white 1969 reunion coming up too! That seems a good turnout and I loved the pic of you two!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Jeanie. So you and Butch graduated the same year!
Michele Morin says
I have yet to attend a reunion, but my 40th is coming up next year, and this post makes me want to give it a go!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Michele, I would urge you to give it a try!

Looks like a wonderful time was enjoyed by all. Reunions are the best. Mine was last year, class of ’68 and my husbands the year before, class of ’67. It is fun when you both knew each other in high school, like you and Butch did – you always feel part of the event. What a great turnout, and the photo of you and Butch is wonderful!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sandra, the event was so fabulous. Actually I didn’t know Butch until he had completed his first year in college. I went to a much larger city high school where I graduated in 1972 with close to 500 students. I was in my junior year of high school when I met him. Thank you dear friend for your sweet comments. Have a wonderful weekend!

Clara, the evening was just perfect. Thank you dear friend!

What a nice time your reunion had to be. Ours are held at the local fairgrounds and includes a decade of graduates. Too large of a group and very hard finding classmates. It is nice that you have a small group and could really have a chance to visit.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
The hubby’s class was small, it was a beautiful event!
Heritage Hall says
Awww…memories….. it all looks so wonderful and you two can still pass for teenagers at heart.
Those who staged the affair with decorations and refreshments did a splendid job. What a happy experience to relive those times with those who shared your high school days. You can go home again…….
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dearest Mary! The hubby loved seeing his classmates and I enjoyed it also! Have a wonderful weekend.
Dolores Velasco says
My dear friends Pam and Butch, the meeting with the children who graduated 50 years ago in school is really endearing.
Remembering is always very pleasant, but after so long it must be unforgettable.
I loved watching the beautiful photos and the details of the delicious sweets.
Receive a big hug and thank you for making us participate in these beautiful and endearing acts.

This post made me cry! It is so sad to think of the three who have gone on to be with the Lord and how young and vibrant they looked in the pictures. Life goes by way too fast, doesn’t it? We get to where we are and wonder how we got here so quickly! We just have to make the most of every moment and thank the Lord for this amazing gift called life. Congratulations on your 50th reunion! May God bless you to see many more!
