“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”
Proverbs 16:24
Hello sweet friends! I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful weekend! Ours was supposed to be extremely wet, but that didn’t happen. My prayers are with those who are impacted with the torrential rain and flooding from the tropical storm.
It is the third Monday of the month which means a new edition of Monday Morning Blooms with my friends Shirley, Lidy, and Mary. I am so glad that you are here to join us!
Summertime in my garden means colorful flowers that pair so beautifully with my favorite summer fruit, which just so happens to be our common theme for this Monday Morning Blooms…peaches!
The links for my friends’ beautiful creations are provided at the bottom of this post.
My inspiration for our theme began with this tablecloth covered in the sweetest of summer fruits…peaches. I saw it at TJ Maxx in early spring and it immediately jumped into my cart. Do you all have that problem with things jumping off shelves and landing in your shopping cart?
Is there anything better than a juicy peach that has been ripened by the summer sun? We have a county in Alabama that is known for growing some of the very best peaches anywhere. Driving south on I-65 you know you are in Chilton County when you see the giant peach water tower on the right hand side of the interstate.
My favorite way to enjoy peaches is to simply peel, slice and eat. There are so many fabulous recipes, a favorite is my beloved Mother’s recipe for fresh peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Peaches are not only for dessert, but I prepared an easy appetizer…grilled ciabatta with goat cheese, sliced peaches, a drizzle of honey, and fresh basil and thyme cut from my garden. The appetizers were placed on individual mini bread boards.
For the centerpiece, I chose a basket that normally holds my coffee and espresso fixings. I tucked small jelly glasses inside to hold a colorful mix of flowers.
All of these happy flowers were cut from my garden…sunflowers, zinnias, limelights, and black/brown-eyed Susans! The flowers were not so much arranged, but were playfully placed for an informal alfresco dinner.
The table occupies a little corner spot in the garden with Adagio maiden grasses as a backdrop, as well as the pasture!
We Southerners love our sweet tea! I made a delicious peach tea using a simple syrup made with the rendered juice of three fresh peaches. Adding the syrup to a fresh pitcher of tea was perfect. Of course, a sprig of chocolate mint and a peach slice were added!
The tablescape is quite simple with blush dinner plates that have gold edging and “baroque” salad plates by American Atelier. Gold flatware with yellow napkins and stemware from Horchow complete each place setting.
A ripe peach has the most delicious fragrance!
“Smell is a potent wizard that transports you across thousands of miles and all the years you have lived. The odors of fruits waft me to my southern home, to my childhood frolics in the peach orchard…Even as I think of smells, my nose is full of scents that start awake sweet memories of summers gone and ripening fields far away.”

You are right about things jumping into your cart at TJ Max which is why I limit my stops there. Peaches are one of summer’s best gifts. I like your idea of using them in tea. Have a beautiful week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Linda, I am proud to say that I haven’t been to TJ Maxx in over four weeks! Aw, sweet peaches are the best.

I think we can all relate to this. 🙂

Pam, you are an elegant southern lady whose creativity is endless. We had some delicious Chilton County peaches a few weeks ago and are yearning for more. Your ciatbatta with goat cheese appetizers have me wanting some good peaches even more. Peach tea sounds very refreshing also.
I saw that peach tablecloth and thought of you. It looks so pretty with your flowers from your garden, pink plates and yellow napkins.
This is another great Monday morning blooms. Enjoy your day!🍊🌻🍊🌻
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Bonnie. Butch had a business trip last Monday to Montgomery and he was already to Birmingham when they called to say the meeting was postponed. I was so disappointed that he wasn’t able to get me peaches from Chilton County. Blessings on your Monday❤️
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Dear Pam, what a wonderful summer table. Peaches are my favorite fruit and they are not good here until August, I am patiently waiting.
Your centerpiece is fabulous. And when you talked about the blooms being “playfully placed.” It reminded me of something my mom always preached, “The winning arrangement of any flower show will never be one which looks arranged. It will always look like it came from the garden.” She was correct and she was a National Flower Show Judge.
I love everything about your table and I would certainly enjoy a glass of your peach tea. Have a lovely week, dear friend.💛
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Sandra. I love what your mom preached. I agree that I love to cut flowers from the garden and allow them to be natural. I would be so happy to share a glass of peach tea❤️

well, you win my heart with this one! I adore peaches but no one does them better than in the south — I learned that firsthand on our visits to NC years back and I suspect it’s more than NC! Ours are much smaller and not always as sweet. I do love that wonderful tablecloth — perfect for this setting!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeanie, enjoy your day 🍑

Pam, I know I regularly write “this is my very favorite post you’ve done” and now I’m saying it again! All the beautiful flowers from your own garden make it so special. The peach tablecloth is perfect. And your appetizer looks amazing. I would eat goat cheese with the board, I love it so much!! Did you know South Carolina raises more peaches than Georgia even though they are the Peach State? I have a friend who has taken up beekeeping and your verse will be perfect in her birthday card. You did an amazing job!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Roxanne. My beloved mother used to get peaches every year from South Carolina and they were always delicious. I love a good juicy peach!🍑
Nancy says
Now I am going to add these Peach delights to my summer appetizers and beverage recipe box! Your centerpiece is such a beautiful but yet simple arrangement! Anyone could make this! Anyone means me! Lol!
Your garden as a backdrop is just so incredible. Our gardens are doing well… the daisies are blooming now but the Japanese Beetles are here and they make me sad! Well… maybe the better word is MAD!
Zinnias still have not bloomed in our gardens yet… I may have planted late.
Loved that I was able to slow down and get all caught up with you while I sip coffee and watch our goldfinches outside the sunroom window.
Happy Tuesday to you sweet Pam!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nancy, I am sorry to hear about the Japanese beetles in your area. We deal with them most years and they can strip a crape myrtle overnight. Slowing down is a good thing for sure. Blessings~

I can just imagine the many joyful hours you spend at that corner table – both decorating it and enjoying time together there surrounded by such beauty. God’s coloring book is on display everywhere you look! I love that song by Dolly Parton – I’m sure you’ve heard it, but just in case, here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOYNgHbFePc Your garden reminds me of this song.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet friend. Your encouragement is so appreciated. I have not heard the song, but I am going to listen, thanks for sending! Hugs~

hard-won by taking a blank slate and creating His garden with the work of your hands to be shared with others. You bless us all, dear friends.

I love peaches, and the fact that summer peaches call for standing over a sink or with a big plate beneath to catch the juice! Your tablecloth, tea and appetizers look so inviting, Pam! The low floral arrangement is perfect for good conversation at the table.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
That is a great peach when the the juice runs down your arm. Have a beautiful day Rita!
