Hello dear friends! I have joined a group of creative table stylists to bring you tabletop inspiration for late summer dining and entertaining. A special thank you to Chloe from Celebrate & Decorate for organizing this fun blog hop.
We are experiencing our hottest temperatures of the season, but I braved the heat so I could share an alfresco table of zinnia bouquets!
It seems that lately every time I set an outdoor table, it threatens rain. It became very dark, but fortunately no rain. In case you missed it, you can read about last weekβs rain experience here.
You will find the schedule and all the links at the bottom of this post.
My inspiration for the table is the βzinnia bouquetβ tablecloth from April Cornell. I saw it on the website in late spring and since I love zinnias and enjoy growing them, I just had to order it.
It was easy to cut a bouquet of zinnias from the garden and place them in bottles…no flower arranging skills are necessary! I placed the bottles in this wooden crate that I have had for several years which I think came from TJ Maxx.
I placed three zinnias in each bottle…how simple is that?
Everyday white dinner plates rest on water hyacinth placemats to provide texture. Bordallo Pinheiro salad plates hold ice-cold watermelon slices. I am often asked about where I found the colorful stemware. A sweet friend gifted it to me years ago, but it is no longer available. Melon and lemon-colored napkins are paired together and held by mini hand-painted flower pots.
If you have never grown zinnias from seed, I strongly urge you to give it a try. There are so many varieties and colors.
“When one has tasted watermelon, he knows what the angels eat.”
-Mark Twain
For more information and photos on the varieties of zinnias that I planted, I recently shared βa visit with zinniasβ that you can read here.
…but I have begun to notice a few subtle changes like the angle of the sunlight, shorter days, the garden as it begins to fade…
…and soon my favorite season will arrive!
But for now I will continue enjoying summer!
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.”
-John Lubbock
Butterflies and bees are constant visitors to the zinnias!

I love zinnias! They always remind me of my mother because she grew them. Would you believe I finally planted some two weeks ago. It is going to be interesting to see if I have any blooms so late.
You strategically placed your table so you can photograph all the views of your garden. So clever.
I love your April Cornell tablecloth. It is so happy and colorful! Perfect for your setting and I love how you layered the melon and lemon napkins. They go so well with one of your signature sets of glasses!
Another lovely table!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, I hope your zinnias provide some autumn blooms for you. We planted asters a couple of weeks ago and hope to see some blooms from them. Have a beautiful day!
Mary says
Swoon Pam! I ADORE your AC zinnia tablecloth! Your gardenβs bounty of zinnias provided the perfect and easy centerpiece for your summer table! Your goblets, sweet napkin rings, colorful napkins and gorgeous garden background are all sheer delight. Iβve had the same challenges with cloudy weather and threatening rain but itβs just been a tease. Itβs oppressively hot and dry and Iβm counting down the days to my favorite season too. As always, itβs a treat to blog hop with you this week. β₯
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary. We definitely need rain, it is not and dry. Stay in and stay cool!

Pam, that is so gorgeous! Your garden is the perfect backdrop, always. The April Cornell textiles are so beautiful, they always make such nice addition. In this case, it’s certainly elevated all your elements to make a wonderful combination. I love the hot pinks and oranges, and the way you worked the stemware and fruit with the flowers.

Pam, I love color and you knocked it out of the park with this table and flower arrangement! And how can I say that my favorite season in your garden is Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall? Your garden is beautiful in all seasons. You and Butch put a lot of thought and energy into planning the garden and I know you planned it that way. Thanks for sharing with us.

Alice, you are so sweet. You know how much I love color, it just makes me happy. I hope your hand is healing. Have a blessed day!

Sweet and juicy watermelon with bold and bright zinnias. What a gorgeous table. Your tablecloth and colorful stemware work beautifully with the pop of colors of your flowers. The floral print napkin rings/holders are such a darling detail in this setting. Your tablescape “sings” the melody of summer and I don’t want it to end. What a gorgeous table you set. I have always loved Zinnias and have fond memories of my mother arranging them every August for our church’s altar. Your AC tablecloth was a great find and it’s perfect to use this time of year. Hi Pam, day 9 was my birthday and I went to Granada to celebrate it with my children and grandchildren … a delicious birthday.
Now that I am back at my house, I go to your blog and see that wonderful table, something that does not surprise me, because its tables are always memorable.
… The zinnnias … beautiful flowers but I’ve never handled them. I explain myself: I don’t usually see them around me, I don’t know if it’s because there aren’t any or because I haven’t noticed.
They are wonderful for their color, texture, I love them … as well as the table you have prepared. A burst of color !!! what beauty, my friend …
And then the details of his table, such as napkin rings of small decorated pots, bottles, simple bottles, which show the wonderful zinnias, in short, an exhibition of color, elegance and beauty.
I congratulate you, a big hug
Dolores

What a deliciously cool table for this unbelievably hot day! Beautiful! I just read Watermelon is the βinβ nail polish color for the rest of summer. I have been noticing the first early signs of Fall too…we have big flocks of geese landing in the pond at dusk then taking off at dawn, yellow leaves falling from the water oaks, and definitely shorter days. Your scripture touched my heart, especially with all the horrible shootings of late.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet Roxanne. Our heat index was 111 a couple of hours ago. I think I am ready for fall. Blessingsβ€οΈ

Gorgeous!!! I can see why you needed that April Cornell tablecloth, it is perfect in your garden! I am loving all your colorful zinnias, you have inspired me to try to grow some next year. Your gifted stemware goes really nice with the colorful flowers, they are very unusual – and pair beautifully with all the florals. Always a pleasure to hop with you!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Ann. Zinnias are easy to grow~
Cheryl King says
My mother always loved zinnias- “zinnies” in our area of the South- but I had never raised them until a family member died just as it was time to get the garden in. Rather than abandon the spot I had already prepped, I threw about 5 seed packets from the dollar store into the dirt and walked away. What a bittersweet reward- I’ve never had such a concentrated pollinator population. Even the hummingbirds come to see. I believe they will be a yearly tradition from now on.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cheryl, bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are so attracted to zinnias. I know you are enjoying their colorful blooms!

It looks like Zinnias is a flower I have overlooked for too long! When I see them in local garden centres they are rather lackluster. Your zinnias on the other hand are stunning. So bold and vibrant. I will definitely give growing them from seed a try! I LOVE the big watermelon slices on the plates. And, that tablecloth is gorgeous. Your stemware really caught my eye, as they appear to pick up and reflect all the beautiful colors.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Maureen. Definitely grow zinnias from seed!

I always think of you when I see a patterned tablecloth. Your color palette is so vibrant and really drew me in. I’ve never grown zinnias but am willing to give them a try. Colored stem ware isn’t the easiest thing to find and how lucky that yours was given to you. Gorgeous styling!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Sandra, I love patterns as you know. Zinnias are easy, sow some and they will surprise you!
Bonnie Brown says
As always, your table is beautiful. I love the table cloth and the colorful flowers! It’s definitely still summer here in south east Georgia but I want to start fall decorating so badly! I’m trying to hold off until September. If I waited until the weather here said fall, I wouldn’t be fall decorating until December! Glad the weather held off for you to set this beautiful summer table! So enjoy your posts!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Bonnie. Have a wonderful weekend!
