A Simple Autumn Arrangement-Monday Morning Blooms

October 7, 2019~ Autumn, Everyday Living, Faith, Monday Morning Blooms, Outdoors

“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10:12‬ ‭

Hello dear friends! It is the first Monday of October which means a new edition of Monday Morning Blooms. We finally have relief from our record breaking temperatures. I must tell you while I was setting up and photographing last Thursday (October 3, 5:00 p. m.), it was 98 degrees. You will note that there are a couple of throws on the chairs, just because I was dreaming of needing them eventually!

We miss our lovely Shirley. She hopes to be back with us soon. Thank you for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers.

If you need an easy idea for a fall table, this one is perfect!

“October is the opal month of the year. It is the month of glory, of ripeness. It is the picture-month.”
-Henry Ward Beecher

Our common theme is an arrangement made with cuttings from the garden or yard. It is amazing what you can find this time of year. The box contains goldenrod, blush nandina, sunshine ligustrum, rosemary, and beautyberry. Everything was cut from my garden or on our property!

The links for Mary’s and Lidy’s beautiful floral arrangements are at the bottom of this post!

An antique quilt bought at a charity auction many years ago is used as the table covering!

This narrow box has served me well, it has been used in so many different ways. For this arrangement, I placed four small jelly jars in the box and then added two pillar candles. After spacing the jars and candles, I begin adding my cuttings until each jar was completely filled. You don’t want any gaps showing, so I added a few more sprigs as needed.

I prepared a small cheese board…Mediterranean cheddar and smoked Gouda, roasted almonds, dried dates and apricots, grapes, pepper and olive oil crackers, pretzels and candy corn (EM’s personal favorite)…a perfect appetizer in the garden!

The basket quilt has some soils and a few tatters…I wonder who felt its warmth on cold winter nights or what hands spent many hours stitching it…if only we knew its story!

Leaf plates are wearing autumnal colors!

“Autumn that year painted the countryside in vivid shades of scarlet, saffron, and russet, and the days were clear and crisp under the harvest skies.”
-Sharon Kay Penman

Ice-cold apple cider!

“It was a beautiful, bright autumn day with air like cider, and a sky so blue you could drown in it.”
-Diana Gabaldon

Tip: A box is one of the easiest ways to arrange flowers. I often place bottles with a single flower stem inside the box! This one came from Kirkland’s a few years ago and was very inexpensive.

You will not want to miss the gorgeous arrangements from my talented friends!

Pam, Your box is a thing of beauty created from the cuttings in your garden! I love the addition of your candles mixed with the foliage and clippings. I’m going to have plant some beautyberry… the color is so vivid and it is so appropriately named. Your cheeseboard is perfect for fall dining and paired with ice cold cider! I’m a quilt lover too and your basket quilt is so pretty as a tablecloth. I am thrilled to have finally had a break from the heat, I hope fall is here to stay! So happy to join you for some flower therapy this morning. Happy Monday. ♥

Pam, I can see you drinking that ice cold cider after photographing your table. I remember drinking my ice cold drinks that were props after photographing a table. Glad you now have a little break from the intense heat and hope it stays.
Your arrangement is so appropriate using all natural things from your garden in your box. The antique quilt is lovely and your cheese board is both pretty and appetizing. Of course, your garden is the perfect backdrop.
    Have a wonderful week.🍁🍂🍁

Your arrangement is stunning Pam, and the fact that all those beautiful things came from your yard impresses me so much! I picture you and Ella Mae wandering about with your clippers finding pretties! Your box is so perfect for this arrangement, and I LOVE the autumn charcuterie board you created and the stack of handy leaf plates, just perfect with the inviting quilts! Beautiful Pam!

The boxed center piece is perfection (what glorious Fall selections) and the wooden slab for the
appetizers is the perfect accompaniment. The leaf plates complete the setting on a treasured
quilt table covering. Those frosty copper mugs lend the cooling touch… We had a thunderous,
lightening downpour through the night and it blanked out the ending of the recording of a very good Hallmark mystery , but was forgiven in gratitude for the rain.. Will I ever know who committed the dastardly deed? Hope most are enjoying the cooler temps.

Your Autumn Arrangement is just lovely. I need to be on the lookout for a box like that, I’m sure it has many uses and the perfect container for your arrangement. We’re still having a heat wave in N FL and no rain in sight. Our local weather man has been teasing us about a cool front coming our way but I suspect our afternoon highs of 95* are going to stay with us for a while. We are desperately in need of rain. I enjoyed your post so much.

The beautiful, old quilt is just perfect, and I, too, would love to know its story. I just released some old quilts that I had been hanging on to for so long and always wondered about their stories. I just have so many, and I finally came to the place that I could part with the ones that weren’t sentimental to me, personally. I LOVE old quilts and have a hard time passing them by when I see one in an antique store or thrift store! You come up with the neatest ways to make them useful again. 🙂 God bless you, sweet friend.

I look forward each year when some of my favorite blooms display their amazing beauty in our garden. Snowball viburnum in its full glory with large creamy white blooms. An old-fashioned Bridal Wreath Spirea with its branches arching to the ground in a fountain-like growth habit is loaded with showy double white flowers in clusters of three to six that resemble a bride’s wreath. I still claim the Kwanzan Cherry tree even though it is now on our son’s property. Its ruffled pink double pink blossoms are some of my favorite blooms. All four of these blooms make up an arrangement with a few tulips from the grocery store.

Eden is one of the beautiful patterns that has returned. It is a soft purple paradise where butterflies float, roses bloom, and soft sage leaves levitate. As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I was gifted these gorgeous linens! I have been a collector of @april.cornell linens for many years…the floral patterns resonate with my love of English Country.

I am serving my favorite, Earl Gray tea, from an Eileen’s Reserve teapot. Teacups by Grace Teaware and vintage Rose Chintz salad plates by Johnson Brothers add more floral patterns to the mix. Japanese Magnolia blooms were cut from my garden and placed in a lilypad teapot!

Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of s Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of spring and looking forward to our garden awakening, I planted a blooming bulb garden in my Sunshine Cottage! The butcher block countertop under a window, was a perfect place for a mini garden. Muscari, hyacinths, tulips, and daffodils danced in the sunlight and filled the cottage with an amazing fragrance!

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage whe Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy on this cold February day. It is Tea on Tuesdays and I have set a tea table with the “Blue Roses” collection that was a collaboration between @victoriamagazine and @april.cornell The exclusive porcelain pattern and matching linens have been used many times and I still enjoy their blue and white beauty. Instead of fresh flowers, porcelain ones require no arranging. Sweet treats pair perfectly with a traditional English Breakfast tea. Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! You are invited to join me and my Monday Morning Blooms friends, Lidy @frenchgardenhouse Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatsis.net by clicking the LINK in my bio!

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluf Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluffing for Valentine’s Day! For many years my Sweetheart and I have celebrated February 14th at home where it is quiet, no reservations are required, and we always have a table by the window!

I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate! I am a huge fan of mixing colors, patterns, and textures for a collected look.

I have joined 17 table stylists for a Valentine’s Day Blog Hop. Click the LINK in my bio to see all of the Valentine inspiration!

Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I am serving my favorite tea, Earl Grey, in the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy! The magic of dancing sunlight enhances the table that is dressed with a warm tartan plaid throw repurposed as a tablecloth! ‘Winter Fauna’ bird salad plates from Pottery Barn (many years ago and now discontinued) remind me of the birds I watch from my kitchen window during the winter season. The Grace Teaware set adds more blue and white to the Spode ‘Blue Room’ dinner plates. Sweet treats were placed on a stack of Bordallo Pinheiro plates! A darling Hummel ‘Icy Adventure’ depicts a scene of an outdoor frozen pond with a pair of sweet ice skaters, a rosy cheeked boy and girl who have fallen down on the ice.
