Merry, merry Friday! I am excited to join sixteen creative bloggers for A Merry Musical Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home. If you have just come from her beautiful blog, may I extend you a warm welcome!
Be sure to scroll to the bottom to check out all of the Merry Musical posts!
Music has shaped who I am and played an important role in my life beginning at an early age. I grew up in a home where my Daddy loved music, playing the sounds of the big bands and the crooners of the 40βs and 50βs often on our stereo! I began piano lessons when I was nine, and I never had to be encouraged to practice…it was an enjoyable time for me! I began taking voice lessons as a teenager and I still enjoy singing to this day! I have been a church musician for more years than I want to admit. Maybe you get the point by now…music runs deep in my veins! I even met my hubby through our mutual love of music He is a singer/songwriter and guitarist who has the sweet tenor voice of the late John Denver. We are passionate about music, it is truly the soundtrack of our lives!
We always have music playing in our home, especially at Christmas time. As soon as you step out of your car, you are greeted with the sounds of the season through our outdoor speakers! With this in mind, I felt it was appropriate to add the sweet carolers to our kitchen porch.
Have you ever been caroling, if not you have missed a blessing. We have fond memories of the years that we went caroling to the homes of seniors, shut-ins, and nursing home residents.
We love musical events anytime, but especially at Christmas. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is a favorite. We have seen it several times in NYC and the traveling show in several different cities.
…especially the live Nativity!
I love incorporating music into tablescapes. This tablesetting was called The First Noel…
…for one of my favorite carols!
A performance of An Irish Christmas with Keith and Kristyn Getty. This talented couple are modern hymn writers with extraordinary God-given abilities that they use to inspire.
Jennifer Nettles, with her unique voice, performed traditional Christmas music and modern songs. Our personal favorite that she performs is βCelebrate Me Homeβ!
The sweet faces of this pair move around in our home. This year they are singing in the dining room…
…last year they were performing in the family room!|
Can you believe I found them at Cracker Barrel?
The historic and beautiful Alabama Theater in Birmingham, AL built in 1927 is a movie palace. Christmas movies are shown during December to sold out crowds.
Pre-showtime music is performed on the mighty Wurlitzer!
My favorite Christmas movie βWhite Christmasβ was showing on this particular night.
I have been collecting Byers Choice Carolers for years. My collection has grown to over thirty!
…and their period dress.
If you have never heard the Annie Moses Band, I highly recommend you watch a YouTube video. This family has unbelievable talents and their performances are superb. If you ever have the opportunity to see them, you wonβt be disappointed.
One of the top Christian writers and worship leaders is Chris Tomlin who presented a beautiful and inspiring concert at the Alabama Theater last December.
Once again you see how I incorporate music into a tablescape. This time it is the border of the tablecloth that resembles hand-painted instruments and carols! I hope you have seen how much our love of music is a major part of the Christmas season but also a part of our Everyday Living!
Next up on the tour is Letβs Add Sprinkles.

Thanks for sharing all your fun musical decor. The carolers are precious. Those concerts look amazing. We went to see the Ft. Worth Symphony last night and it just makes it feel like Christmas. I saw the Rockettes as a child. I loved it.

Thank you Katie. Will be over to visit with you!

The very, very first time I read your blog, I thought Butch looked like John Denver! And every Sunday morning when I look at your beautiful photos, I think βwonder what they are signing in Church today?β We love music around here also, but I definitely got in the wrong line when God handed out singing talent! I love all your carolers. Cracker Barrel sells beautiful decorations, but youβd better grab βem while you see as our manager said they never offer the same thing twice. Have a joy and music filled weekend, sweet Pam.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Roxanne for being such a faithful reader of our little blog. We treasure your friendship. Wishing you a most joyful weekend!

Hi, Pam, your blog hop says closed, so Iβm putting my musical link up here, as I was working on it today. Still havnβt mastered the colours on it, canβt figure out how I do things when I do, or how to undo them! Hehe!

Well, I love your carollers, as I was in a few choirs. Mind you, if you stand around in Australia with your mouth open too long, a fly might get in it!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Are you able to see my post, Cath?
runn1n90nempty says
Do you mean on the blog hop? Yes, itβs number two. I clicked on it now since you asked, and it opened.

I love this post to the max, Pam. White Christmas is probably my favorite Christmas movie. A few years ago I saw it on the big screen — but you saw it on a REALLY big screen in the kind of theatre that makes me gasp — and with the wurlitzer, no less! What a fabulous experience! I love all your musical references and photos here. I know how wonderful it is to have music in one’s life — add to that the beauty of Pam’s world and it’s pretty special. Merriest!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet Jeanie. I forgot to mention that Butch and I saw White Christmas on Broadway in 2008. It was fabulous. I canβt imagine a world without music!

Love all your sweet carolers! Cracker Barrel has some really cute things & those carolers are darling! It’s nice they move from year to year around your home. We will be checking out the Annie Moses band you tube upon your recommendation. Your posts are always so interesting and inspirational. We have a a theater similar to the one in B’ham. They have classic movies in the summer but we are going to check out if they have movies during the holidays. It would be great to see the classics up on a big screen. Clara ?

Pam,
What a lifetime of musical memories! Your carolers collection reminds me of Christmas caroling with my husband when we were first married. We also sang together in a church choir, and that choir sang at our wedding.
Merry Christmas,
Judith

How beautiful and attractive is today’s post. Certainly we have many things in common and one of them is music, love and taste for music, the world, that is one of the great things. Because music is ourselves.
You have gone through the memories of yesteryear: childhood, adolescence, today.
I made special reference to the image of Rosemary Clooney in the movie “White Christmas” because it reminded me of my childhood when I went to the cinema with my mother, who was a great amateur movie, she loved it … Then in Spain there were many movies Americans because they were the best. That’s why I have a special veneration to the American comedies of the 50s, I still like them a lot.
How beautiful everything, how elegant …
Dolores

Pam, your musical Christmas decor and family appreciation of music is admirable! I hope I can find someone like you to take in my wooden Christmas carolers that I’ve chosen to sell this year, someone who will appreciate them. All these decorations are like old friends when we bring them out, and I just love when you share the sentiment behind them.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rita, I couldnβt imagine a world with out music!
Lora Bloomquist says
Pam, I’m jealous of all these wonderful concerts and events you’ve gone to! Our family also is rooted in a heritage of faith-filled music. It’s a part of us that is integral to our lives and worshipping our Lord:) We listen to pretty much all kinds at our house and have successfully passed on our love to our kids. Just went to my daughter’s college Christmas concert with over 400 choir members and 100 piece orchestra; what a privilege to hear. I’m going to be sad next year when my youngest heads off to college and I can’t hear his guitar playing every night:( Wish you a Merry Christmas, full of beautiful concerts!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Lora. When our son left for college, we so missed him playing his guitar and singing. Our son is our worship leader at church. Merry Christmas!

When I saw that I am #56 commenter, I almost didn’t write because I would only be repeating what everyone has said. But, I decided I couldn’t not tell you how much your blog posts mean to me. This one especially resonates because my husband and I are also music lovers. He served as a full-time Minister of Music for 52 years and we met his last few weeks of his seminary studies. I have sung since a child and received vocal scholarships to LSU. Ours was a shared ministry for most of those years. Our house is also full of music every day and especially during the Christmas season. Although I can no longer sing, Dick, even at 78 has as strong and beautiful baritone voice as ever and loves singing in our church choir. So, thank you for sharing your love for music and especially the music of this season where attention and glory is given to our Prince of Peace, Emanuel, King of Kings.
