“City sidewalks, busy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style
In the air, there’s a feeling of Christmas…”
-Livingston/Evans
It’s beginning to look a lot like…Christmas! Yes, I do know it is the week of Thanksgiving, but with the cooler weather upon us and all of the holiday decorations going up, who can really resist the spirit of Christmas? Last Thursday, our quaint downtown area in Gadsden hosted a “Girls Night Out.” The streets were filled with Christmas carols and the excitement was contagious as we traveled from shop to shop! Several businesses opened their doors with tasty refreshments and hot apple cider as we welcomed Christmas to our little southern town!
First, we started off at a weekly favorite, The Coffee Well…
There is a warm Christian ambiance made up of friendly and helpful faces along with the Christian music that is always playing in the background..
Double vanilla cinnamon coffee with a pumpkin spice muffin
The halls were decked!
Next, we made our way over to Gadsden Variety…
Gadsden Variety is an antique mall, so this vintage window really sets the tone for what’s inside!
Window dressed in antiques and gold
Our friends, Mike & Sandy bought Gadsden Variety last year and maintained the original squeaky wood floor, fresh popcorn, and its nostalgic feel. I have fond memories of shopping with my Mother and brother in this store as a little girl when it was a “Five and Dime”.
A little tablescapin’…
Love these festive white and gold trees!
Always look up. On my many travels, I have learned to “look up” at beautiful scenery. If you are looking down or straight ahead, you very well could miss beautiful architecture, something stunning in nature, or even this gorgeous chandelier I spotted while we were there!
Gadsden really does have beautiful buildings….like this one: Imagination Place
Twigs and Roses is our upscale furniture and accessories shop that I frequented during my days as an Interior Decorator.
Next, we made our way to Alabama Gift Company and High Cotton Style…
Are these not the cutest window displays??
So festive!
Adorable little wood slice ornaments with a little hometown touch!
The friendly staff of Blooms on Broad dressed in their monogrammed Christmas P.J’s!
So many Christmas ideas!
Such a fun night with Katy!
Again…look up. As we approach this holiday season, my hope is that our focus will remain “up”.
With all of the many parties, the baking, the shopping, and just the hustle and bustle of everyday living during this season, may we remember to look up to the One who came. To the one who is with us…Jesus Christ, Emmanuel.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life”
John 3:16
