“I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust””
Psalms 91:2
Today I continue my series on spotlighting designers’ work that I admire and appreciate. These posts are so much fun for me because they are a feast for my interior decorating eye and each one is unique to their own style! Katie Ridder’s bold use of color and pattern, her playful approach to mixing antiques and modern pieces, and her eye for the unusual decorative accent has established her as a leading figure in the design world. Her work has been published in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, House Beautiful just to name a few. Her second book is to be released in September. As if that doesn’t give her credibility, just wait until you see her work…I think you will agree that she is genius in creating beautiful homes!

A welcoming mix of contemporary and traditional!
Beautiful art, a modern chandelier, and striped carpets add interest to a stairwell and landings!
A traditional foyer with damask wallpaper in a color I would call cantaloupe. A stunning lantern hangs over a center table!
A formal living room that speaks elegance. Note the pair of tables used as a coffee table!
A living space with an exotic oriental feel!
I love the brave choice of lavender-painted walls in this living room with a punch of orange!
A great use of pattern in this space!
I love the way Katie uses red in this dining room. The chandelier appears to be Venetian and is certainly the pièce de résistance!
I love the bold use of color, and the contemporary light over the table gives this room a moderne vibe!
Interesting art provides a feeling of depth in this dining room. It appears the ceiling matches the chairs!
I think drama works exceptionally well in a dining room…love the chairs!
The window seat is the perfect spot for morning coffee. The peacock color is gorgeous!
A pairing of orange and red is always fun!
Katie mixes blue and green in the creative use of patterns for this bedroom!
A soft shade of blue pairs with vivid orange in a guest bedroom!
Note again, the beautiful pairing of blue and green. The lamps add a touch of whimsy!
The floral wallpaper and curtain panels mix with a bold pop of blue…I wouldn’t have thought of it, but it works for me!
A multi-purpose room is a wise use of space…a guest room/office!
A gorgeous canopied bed with punches of olive green and brilliant red!
Let your imagination run wild in a powder room!
Love the wallpaper and the marble sink!
Sweet bathing space using a feminine color scheme of pink and orange!
Y’all know I love libraries and this one is perfect. These are real books with their colorful dust jackets. I would never leave this room!
The alcove for the sofa and the paneled walls provide a warm family space!
A charming space with art hanging on the bookcase!
A dramatic use of color and pattern…the sofa is drop-dead gorgeous!

She certainly uses orange to its advantage! I like how she gives us a good excuse to make things fun with colorful excitement. Thanks for sharing another artist for us to enjoy. Happy Monday!
Hello Kim, I love her use of orange! Wishing you a wonderful week!
Gracias, amiga
Dolores

They’re all wonderful, but for some reason I always adore the art-on-the-bookcase look! My family wants me to be more modern, so I’m glad to see these examples. Thanks for the pretties!
Leslie Anne, I think you are modern! Am I missing something? Have a great rest of the week!
They are all pretty dreamy, I love the modern dining room and the library especially…oh and the powder rooms!
