“For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself”
Galatians 5:14
Last year when we did a complete overhaul of our backyard, we also started on a patio project. We put down new tile, but it kind of fell to the wayside because it was so hot and we had exhausted our budget! But, I have good news…after a year’s wait we are going to finish what we started! We are waiting on our contractor, who promises to be here in a couple of weeks!
I have been on the search for the perfect pergola and that means I have been pinning away! You can visit my Pinterest Board “Outdoor Rooms” to see all of my ideas! At the bottom is the one that best fits our space! Can’t wait to show you the finished design!

Our pergola will serve the same purpose as this one – alfresco dining!
This is cozy with a fireplace… ours will be simple!

Our pergola will not be attached to our house, but will be similar to this.
I have always loved the idea of fabric panels!
What a beautiful space for dining outdoors!

I am planning on hanging an outdoor chandy!
This almost feels like a tree house!

And here she is, the one I have chosen…it best suits our patio! I really liked the white double columns with the natural wood on top!
I love your visits and the comments that you leave!

I would love any of them in my backyard. We have too much sun. Looking forward to seeing the final project.
Thanks, I am so excited to get this project underway! Happy weekend!
Love your choice, Pam! I can’t wait to see it completed. My sister-in-law has one almost exactly like #5, and they installed a remote-controlled swag shade to entirely cover the interior, made of Sunbrella fabric. Unless you grow plants on them, it’s almost a necessity. Talk about woes and things to avoid…my next door neighbor had one installed, which is attached to their home – natural cedar. Not liking the silver tone cedar takes on, she power washed it after the first winter, which splintered the wood (!), then hand sanded & had it polycoated. Apparently it wasn’t weatherproof poly or the wood wasn’t sanded properly, and it later peeled. This summer they’ve machine sanded it and painted it. Ugh. Wax on, wax off.
Rita, I hope I don’t end up with a horror story like your neighbor. Sometimes the best laid plans go wrong! Happy Wednesday!
I am now following your Pinterest board! I love pergolas and the outdoor dining option is great!
Thanks so much, Deanna! I am anticipating getting this project started!
I liked all of them. I also love columns and you’re going to have eight of them! I can’t wait to see it finished. Are you going to plant wisteria on it to help with shade when dining? Oh my goodness, how beautiful would that be especially when its in full bloom. Your yard is going to be Architectural Digest worthy. Have fun!
Alice, I want something growing, but we haven’t decided yet…wisteria would be beautiful. We definitely will need shade!
Gorgeous! We’ve talked about doing this for years but never got around to it. I will thoroughly enjoy going through this process with you! I love the one you’ve chosen. You’re right…it’s perfect. It’ll be so fun to see your tablescapes under the new pergola. Tuesday blessings, friend!
Kim, we are excited, now I am ready to get started!
Such lovely inspiration! Nice designs ♥

Yes, Jenna I will be playing underneath the pergola sooner than later, I hope!
White columns…that would be my choice too. Our back veranda on the Georgian house had huge fat white columns. Loved it.
Your veranda sounds so beautiful and Southern in your Georgian home! I love your home now, Sheila!

No matter how yours turns out, it will be perfect. Hopefully, there will be wonderful cool days in spring and fall to allow you to totally enjoy it.
Linda, our heat and humidity have been oppressive this summer! Looking forward to autumn weather!
Pam, I have been trying to convince my husband that white columns would look good with a wood top and wood floors! Thank you for backing up my opinion. Maybe I can convince him now. He got 4 free columns and this is how I want to use them.
🙂 gwingal
