“Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever”
Psalm 136:3-4
Thanksgiving is in the air! And so is Christmas! It seems like every year, the lines continue to blur as to when to put away the pumpkins and drag out the trees. Thanksgiving is perhaps my favorite holiday, because it seems like it’s the holiday with no expectations…only to eat and enjoy family! But may I pose the idea that you can decorate with both in mind?
You may remember last year when I shared the Caroline House with you all! It’s a lovely house that the women of Briarwood Church decorate to usher in the Christmas season, and it’s definitely worth pulling out of the archives today! Katy and I went and loved every room – they were all decorated beautifully! While most rooms were decked out for Christmas, the sunroom lent itself to both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Today, let’s take a look at what happens when we mix it up!
The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality…fresh fruit is perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
My eye was immediately drawn to the cross on the window!
The pops of orange bring in autumn!

The tree made of fresh greenery and flowers was the piece de resistance!
The antique bread bowl with pumpkins, pears, and wheat is mixed in the room with touches of Christmas…a blend of both holidays!
Apparently someone sat on the sofa and messed up the pillow. Do you see it?! The decorator in me has tried to reach into this photo several times to straighten it! No luck!
French side chair with velvet upholstery!

The fresh floral arrangements throughout the house were gorgeous!
The house had two dining rooms. This table was set along with two other round tables in the less formal space!
When do you begin your Christmas decorating?
Have you ever mixed the two seasons?

Enjoyed seeing this post again. Talented ladies. Beautiful flower arrangements and I love the unique tree.I wonder if they do this tour every year? I would love to go this year.
Bonnie, they have done the tour for years, but they are not doing it this year, I am sad to say!
We put our tree up with no decorations before Thanksgiving. I call it my Thanksgiving tree. Then after our Thanksgiving Dinner my daughters and grandchildren help me decorate it. This is a tremendous help to me!
Nancy, that is a wonderful plan. That is always what my Mother did. We decorated her tree after her big Thanksgiving meal! Have a wonderful day!
Very pretty, Pam! While I don’t mix seasonal decorating at home much, we very often do at the antique mall. It’s a given in retail, I think. I love the informal table setting in this house, and the living arrangements – tree and the Della Robbia arrangement especially – gorgeous!
Thanks Rita…this year is a first for me…I am putting up trees (undecorated) before Thanksgiving! Happy weekend!
Pam, what a beautiful tour! I so enjoyed it this morning! What gorgeous floral arrangements! I have to admit, I am dreaming of Christmas decor. I love to decorate for Christmas, and It is so much work. I like to be able to enjoy it longer, so I do get a jump start on the holiday decorating. However, I go to my parents and my inlaws for Thanksgiving so I won’t be hosting guests. Therefore, I don’t mind decoraing a little early. I hope that you have a great day!!!
Shannon, I host Thanksgiving so I hate to start early. But, this year I am breaking my own rules. I will start early! Happy weekend!
My favorite detail (and you may have guessed already) is the drapery panel hold-back behind the yellow velvet upholstered chair. My eyes instantly go straight to the window dressings in every room. And, I’m with you on the pillow. The OCD in me wants to fix that! I hope your Thursday is fabulous!
Kim, isn’t that a pretty tie-back…love that detail!
I love that first photo of magnolia leaves, apples and the pineapple. There’s something about that combination that just says, “home.”
Thanks Leslie Anne, I agree!
What a most beautiful tour and home Pam!….Well I do love that fresh flower and greenery tree, but must say that I am so partial to the pineapple and fruit topiary….I love my pineapples!
Thank you Shirley, I have been seeing pineapples everywhere, especially in gold’
This is so beautiful Pam!!
Thank you, Stacey!
Very pretty rooms! The table is gorgeous! Am I seeing right? Are the chargers made of feathers?! I start decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. I put a simple centerpiece out at the beginning of November for Thanksgiving. It is a stenciled runner with a fabulous decorative turkey, some pilgrims and some pumpkins 🙂
Ann Marie, those are feather placemats. I also have a set and I love using them for Thanksgiving!
Dolores
The decor is all beautiful. There really original and very balanced colors details. One detail that I found very useful is in the chair where the seat grid is a big cushion, this makes upholstery can be changed very easily and the taste of the moment, you can have several cushions.
It has always seemed a great day Thanksgiving that you are celebrating in Spain … does not exist and should exist because there are so many things for which to give thanks …
Fondly
Dolores
Como siempre, espero sus visitas, Dolores! Nuestras vacaciones de Acción de Gracias es una celebración favorita de la familia y la comida! ¿Ha llegado su nieto? ¡Permanecéis en nuestros pensamientos y oraciones! Bendiciones, Pam
As always, I look forward to your visits, Dolores! Our Thanksgiving holiday is a favorite celebration of family and food! Has your grandson arrived? You remain in our thoughts and prayers! Blessings, Pam
I remember that fabulous flower tree from your older post, so lovely, but the pineapple really stands out to me this time, fresh fruit, plants and flowers make the best decor! You have my mind racing with thoughts of combining the two holidays as my time is now so divided between 2 houses…I had to put Halloween away before Halloween because I was leaving, I always seem to be playing catch up or jump ahead! I love the idea of putting up a tree undecorated before Thanksgiving, and then it’s ready for holiday adornment. Thanks for the fun today Pam,
Jenna
Jenna, I am going to put up some trees undecorated before Thanksgiving this year! I don’t know how you handle two homes, superwoman for sure! Have a fabulous Friday, sweet friend!
Gorgeous decor! I won’t decorate until sometime the week after Thanksgiving.. And, I do less than half as much as I use to do. I enjoy the putting up but the taking down, not so much!! Happy weekend!
Lea, the taking down and putting away is the worst part of Christmas decorating!
There are some talented people associated with the House. It is so brilliant to bring both holidays together and phase one out. I did that in my little shop this week, too, mixing Thanksgiving with Christmas. Even with all the stunning floral pieces, like the tree and the white tulips in the silver vase, I love the scene with the French-style caned bench and the simple wreath with the elegant orange ribbon the most. That is beautiful.
~Ginene
Thanks, Ginene! I love the simplicity of the wreath on the window. I am putting up a couple of undecorated trees prior to Thanksgiving, and then I will decorate them afterwards!
What a lovely tour, Pam! I am trying to consolidate my Fall decor and phase in Christmas right now. We usually decorate our tree on Thanksgiving night. I won’t need to decorate the Louisiana house this year, as we’ll be spending both holidays here. So, that’s a big help! There are some great ideas in this post for merging the two. Thanks for sharing!
Shenita, I always go into full Christmas decorating the day after Thanksgiving and it is so exhausting, so I am actually going to start earlier this year. I host Thanksgiving and Christmas for my family and prepare all the food for both meals so I am going to start a little early with the decorating! Have a wonderful weekend!
What a delightful post. I do adore the mixed holidays together. Love the pineapple and fruit topiary! have a blessed weekend.
Thanks so much, Linda! Blessings~
Why is it that REAL homes not decorator homes always appeal to me. I had to laugh at your pillow dilemma, because I basically throw them on and how ever they land is the way it stays. But the pristine balance of the old with the new here is quite appealing. So love the Williamsburg fruit arrangement. And Thanksgiving—what a refreshing home tour. Grins and thanks, Sandi
Sandi, what I love about this house is that the rooms were decorated by ladies within the church and not professionals. I am so glad you enjoyed.
So pretty! Love that orange!
Thank you, Tina…have a great week!
That fresh greenery tree is just lovely!
Thanks Audra.,,a fun room to see!
It is a beautiful place and I like the combination of the two holidays! I have too much Christmas to do this. 🙂 Thanksgiving must be put away to make room for Christmas. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
Thanks Jann, I have way too much Christmas!
It feels as though time is moving at the speed of light doesn’t it? Your pictures are always magazine quality and is possible that you’ll be teaching photography in the near future?
Sandra, thanks so much for you extremely kind comments! Happy Monday!
