“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone”
Isaiah 9:2
Letters to Santa. Candy canes. Big colored lights. Popcorn garland. Assorted hard candy. Do you ever wish Christmas was simple and magical like it once was? Through the years, the decorations have multiplied and the time has escaped during the holiday season. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new and exciting ways of bringing Christmas into our home…the nutcrackers that stand guard at our door, the flocked trees in our bay window, and my collection of Radko ornaments that grace our tree. But I will admit that it takes a lot of time and energy. As I scurry around to decorate every inch and corner of our home, I think about how Christmas used to be. So today, I want to take a step back into time. I think George Strait said it best…”Let’s have an old time Christmas just like the ones from yesterday, an old time Christmas for old time’s sake.”

Like you, I’m big on traditional Christmas. Not that I might not have a themed tree here and there, but the main one is colorful lights and all sorts of ornaments — a biography, so to speak!
Wishing you much magic today and all season!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Jeanie…I like that your tree is a biography…I think mine is also!

Every one of your posts is like a breath of fresh air. Your most recent table was picture perfect and made me want to be right there to take it all in. My holiday efforts are minimal at best, but that means I don’t have much to put away when the season is over.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Linda, thanks…but I might be envious of your approach!

the Painted Apron says
Wonderful photos Pam! I have tried to keep it simple, but then everyone complains! “Why isn’t there garland on the stair rail this year, and where is the snowman collection, etc. etc.!!” I am going to decorate this weekend and then be done and sit back and enjoy it!

Jenna, last year we bought a smaller tree for the family room and our married son complained about us not putting up the big tree, it is so hard to not use all this stuff I have accumulated! ???
