“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:14
If it’s not broken, why fix it? I guess you could say that is my theme when decorating our kitchen porch for Christmas each year! The nutcrackers have been a mainstay at this entrance for many years…and they never get old! Their festivity and warmth invite all our family and friends to come right on in! And here is a little secret: I found them at Wal-Mart several years ago! They are made of wood and are getting a little worn from their month long stay every year in the cold and rain, but they are still standing guard! This year, they are joined by a beloved little guy that has been in the family for 30 years! Last week, I shared our front porch and Williamsburg Fan, and today it’s the return of the nutcrackers!
These guys say “y’all come on in!”
Butch cuts fresh pine every year and staples it to a form that he made to surround the door. With all the lush and thick greenery, I use a simple door wreath.
Lanterns with red candles and fresh cedar light the porch in the evening.
We added Seth’s childhood wagon to the porch, along with his favorite bear from childhood.
The nutcrackers are almost five feet in height!

I thought Snuggles might need a warm blanket on cool nights!
