“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Psalms 121:1-2
We all know that French women have that certain “je ne sais quoi”! They can take a very simple and basic outfit and turn it into the most stylish and elegant statement by one simple addition…a scarf! While visiting Paris in 2006, I found a floral scarf with rich vibrant colors as I was shopping along streets near the Champs-Élysées. Believe it or not, it was reasonably priced…so it of course had to come home with me! Yes, scarves can finish off our outfits as that perfect accessory, but they also serve many more purposes! By now you may have noticed that scarves are no stranger to Tablescape Tuesday here at Everyday Living…they show up as table runners often! I welcome you to the table today, where my inspiration is that long-ago purchase of “a French scarf”!
As you can see, the French scarf takes center stage at my table set for four.
Orange lilies and purple alstroemerias complement the colors found in the scarf and the china.
The salad and dessert plates along with the cups and saucers are Waterford by Marc Jacobs in a pattern called “David”. I found this beautiful china at TJ Maxx and thought I might like to locate dinner plates, but it is now discontinued. I love pairing the “David” pattern with the gold banded-dinner plates, that are part of a complete set, found at “the longest yard sale”.

White linen napkins and gold flatware add another layer of simple elegance.
This stemware is my go-to…looks great with any setting!

Love your elegant french scarf! I can see you strolling along the Champs- Élysées weaving in and out of shops enjoying the sights.
Your bottle vases with complementary color flowers and long candle tapers make a lovely statement atop your scarf.
Your dishes are the perfect colors and textures to complement your centerpiece. You do have a great eye for purchases and designing a table seems to flow so easily for you with what you have.
Bonnie, you are so kind. It doesn’t always happen so easily, but when it does it is usually better than when it is contrived! Enjoy the rest of your week!
Hi Pam, What a beautiful China pattern! Are you familiar with Replacementsltd.com? You can check their website for replacement china, silver and crystal patterns. They are located near Greensboro, NC. You might find the David dinner plates there. They also buy china, silver and crystal. Replacements Limited. Hope this is helpful! Have a great week! Blessings, Janet
Yes, Janet Replacements send me an email every week and they have David, but never any dinner plates. Thank you so much, I have actually been to their store. Happy Tuesday!
Pretty, Pam, with a nice jolt of purple and orange for this dreary time of gray. The china coordinates perfectly. That base china form the LYS? Wow! I know you must have had fun with this table and how the scarf sparked the inspiration. I love it when that happens, and how it comes together. You made a really nice balance with the white napkins, not outdoing the scarf.
Thanks so much, Rita! I love it when things just fall into place on a table!
Love the table that is set around that beautiful French scarf!…what a wonderful treasure and memory for inspiration of creating that beautiful table. You definitely scored those dinner plates at the Longest Yard Sale.
Thanks Shirley…I love pulling out something that I have and then repurposing it!
Love the scarf and your table setting, interesting the red walls of your dining room match too!
Thanks so much, I may be painting those red walls, I am mulling over it…I do love the drama of the red!
You are right about French ladies and having a knack with accessories. I have a French friend who can find the best pieces of clothing at garage sales and put them together to look like a million bucks! It doesn’t hurt that she’s a cute little petite lady too.
Nancy, the French ladies can pull off basic clothes into something spectacular!
What an unusual scarf Pam and it’s perfect for your table. What I also noticed in your dining room is the melon colored pillow in the chair. Beautiful! Also since I lived in North Carolina for 48 years I also have visited Replacements. What a wonderful place to spend a day since I am a dish attic. Knowing you love color as much as I do, painting the walls in the dining room that gorgeous melon color would be something to see!
Alice, thanks so much, and I agree a melon color would be fabulous!
How beautiful and vibrant Pam, the colors are wonderful in your dining room and everything just pops off the scarf! Great idea to use the special scarf on your table to celebrate a travel memory! The china is gorgeous too!
Thanks so much, Jenna! Sending hugs to you in the loss of your sister. ❤
Your scarf is beautiful and is perfect for the table. I have a few scarves that I use for my tables and have actually shopped for them with that purpose in mind. Consignment shops are a wonderful place to get some beauties at a great price!
Thanks Julia, consignment shops can have some amazing things!
Your beautiful scarf offers lots of options for colors to bring into your table. I love the flowers you chose. The mixture of china is stunning! You did a nice job matching the china pieces, and I love that you discovered them here and there. With all the color and details, I wouldn’t call this a simple table at all. It’s wonderful. Happy Tablescape Tuesday! 🙂
Kim, thanks my friend!
Such a beautiful tablescape and the gorgeous scarf sets the stage for the pieces of “jewelry” you added.
Thanks so much, we all have scarves that can be repurposed!
Pam, I am adoring your beautiful table set around the gorgeous French scarf…such wonderful and rich color to brighten up a Winter’s day. Your bottle vases with the sweet flowers along with the pretty china are the perfect compliment to you table. I hope you enjoy your day!
Thanks sweet Shannon!
Pretty table setting with that pretty scarf. Yes, the French know how to look good. Don’t paint that gorgeous dining wall…I love color! What color would you paint to look better??
Nancy, thank you so much. I am undecided about the dining room, it has been this color for over 13 years and think I am ready for a change. What would you recommend?
Pure loveliness for sure! I have a boatload of scarves so will remember this the next time I’m doing a tablescape. Blessings!
Thanks so much, Lea…pull out those scarves!
Pam, this is such a beautiful, yet simple, elegant tablescape! Love the dishes and the colors!
Thanks so much, I love using what I have!
Lovely, Pam, especially those dramatic flowers.
The scarf is beautiful and the flowers make me antsy for spring! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

I love the vibrancy of all the elements you used. The intensity varies, but the colors are a wonderful combination. And the design is elegant.
Stems in bottles, a beautiful textile come together to create a centerpiece that is the star of the table.
Thanks Linda! Hope you are improving each day!
That’s simply beautiful, Pam. I’ve done that before and it’s always a very pretty look.
I have so many scarves, it is fun to repurpose them!

Love it! This is so elegant. I really like everything about your dining room. The simple stems in the clear glass bottles make such an effective juxtaposition to all of the “fancier” elements in the room. Super-nice!
