“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand”
Proverbs 19:20-21
It’s that time of year…a lot of us have kicked it in to high gear cleaning out closets, wiping down baseboards, and organizing our pantry. It’s a good time to free up drawer space and donate those gently used items to charity. What is it about spring that makes us want to clean? It means cleaning windows and moldings, and an overall organizing of our home.
I come across as a very organized person because I wear a lot of different hats, but the truth is that I just fly by the seat of my pants! And most of you bloggers will understand when I say there’s a time to clean up our devices…and for me, that means filtering through the thousands of pictures on my iPad. Yes, I said thousands! I am that girl that has ten photos of the same shot and can’t find it in me to send any to the trash! I began working on this little spring cleaning project on Tuesday and I am happy to report I have cleaned out over 1500 photos (can I get a pat on the back?!). As I have taken the time to do that, of course, you re-live so many sweet memories that pictures bring back to you. I thought in keeping it real on the blog, it might be fun to share a few with you that I kept…and the story behind them!
I take photos of flowers anytime, anyplace…I don’t even remember where this was taken!
Yes, another castle on our travels…swords and armor!
The first time holding our beautiful princess…I still tear up.
My man making music…the very best, I might add!
Everyone meet Charlie…the horse that took me on my first ride!
I also love to take pics of (and eat at) beautiful restaurants!
Oh our sweet Oreo…how we miss him!
We love sunrises and sunsets…I wish you could have seen how many of these kinds of pics I had on my iPad. This is the sun setting over the North Sea.
What kind of face is THIS?! Apparently I am pretty animated when I teach tablescaping classes!
The travel photos we never share. Yes, restoration is a necessity, but always a disappointment!
Leave it to me to sniff out a “sweet” place in a new town!
Butch addressing the nation…shouldn’t he be wearing a coat and tie?
I am the artsy type, but I am not sure what I was thinking with this camera angle?
I go prepared in case of an emergency!
Cross-stitch that I did in 1981 for a very special aunt that I am named after.
We can never just sit down and eat…Butch laughs because I have to first get photos, even of breakfast in a random hotel in a random city!
I not only take photos of food, but of those I love eating it!
Talk about a giant fruit bowl…
Is this a spaceship about to land in our winter garden? Nope, it’s Seth’s drone flying low!
A year or two before I actually started blogging, I had plans to do some fashion posts!! But as you know, that hasn’t happened, so this is what you get!
Our sweet Ella Mae wearing her Daddy’s overalls and riding in his wagon with the cute bonnet I bought for her in Seattle! Of course I will NEVER clean out pictures of our little princess!
Do you spring clean? Let me know in the comments!

what a fun and interesting variety of shots in this post; all just gorgeous OR super cute! 🙂
Yep I spring clean 🙂
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Deb, our spring-like weather turned to cold this week in the Deep South!
Rita C. (Panoply) says
Some great shots, Pam. Love the drone one! Oh yea, my spring cleaning started in Jan, and I can’t WAIT to get my house back and really clean it.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Rita, I know you are anxious to finish and get everything back in place. Will be looking for the reveals!
Nancy says
I love looking at pictures. Like you, I had a hard time throwing them away no matter how bad the picture. But after 53 years of marriage, now in my 70’s, I’ve had to. We are also learning to scan since so many were taken before computers. I have albums stored everywhere!!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nancy, thanks for sharing! Pictures are memories and finding ways to store and preserve are so important to me! Happy Thursday!
Roxanne says
I love pictures of food too! What a precious little princess you have.
Speaking of photos…does anyone have an inexpensive source for having old slides converted to DVD? I spent most of January sorting and organizing almost 2000 slides my Dad took in the 50s and 60s, basically my childhood! My local Walmart has a great price, but I’ve waited 2 months for them to order the special boxes Fuji requires to send them off for processing. Help!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, I wish I could answer your question. We have so many old VHS tapes that I would love to convert. Thanks so much and Happy Sunday!

Pam, I just reach through this computer and hug that sweet Ella Mae. Mercy she’s a beauty. I love looking at your pictures and you crack me up with making pictures of everything! I do the same exact thing. I have gotten lazy with my camera though since good old phone cameras are here. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cindy, we are so in love with our first grandchild! Thanks sweet friend! Hugs and blessings~

Every time I download photos I try to delete anything that strikes me as imperfect or unusable. Even so, there are tons more on the computer than I will ever use and once they are there they have a way of staying.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Linda, it is definitely an ongoing process!
Belle Bleu Interiors says
Pam, I loved seeing all of your photos this morning! I take pictures of flowers all the time-lol! You just never know when you might want to make the same arrangement and will need it for reference. Your Ella Mae is a living doll. What a cutie! I hope that you have a beautiful day! Happy Thursday!!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
As always, thanks sweet friend!
marmeladegypsy says
I’m so glad you shared these, Pam. It’s hard to manage all the photos, isn’t it? I periodically go through and pick “best of 20__” and save them on a flash drive and recently I looked at one of those and thought I could probably free up a lot of space there, too! There are blog folders, category folders, trips and family… And now the computer is becoming more full as I try to scan many of the old print ones. It’s a never ending process and you have my great admiration for tackling it so well. And I’m delighted you shared your discoveries!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jeanie, it is a never ending task, but pictures hold so many memories that we treasure!
Patti Fralix says
Love all of this, but especially the photos of beautiful Ella Mae!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks my friend!
Linda says
I am doing the same thing with my photos. As I do I also am taking advantage of Shutterfly deals; I am not an affiliate, to set up photo books to order. I have piles of photos and slides. Some will be “legacy” types. Others just make me smile. And the rest toss, and dleate. It still takes hours. Maybe I’ll have time to wipe those baseboards.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Linda, sounds like you are on the right track with your photos!
Kim says
Haha! I was at my parents’ house this week cleaning out closets with Mom. Now I’m home today doing the same thing. When you mentioned cleaning out your phone photos I laughed again. It reminds me of how many emails I have on my phone that I never delete. It takes too much time! Right? Congrats on getting your photos cleaned up. I enjoyed the ones you share in this post. Your son’s drone is awesome. What a great business he has! Happy Thursday, friend! 🙂
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Kim, what a blessing that you can help your Mom clean. Enjoy every moment! Those emails would make me frantic???

Taking pictures of everything helps in many ways. Now, that my mother-in-law can’t remember anything I so long to know more about her things. She has lovely tablecloths and I think bought many of them on trips. I really wish I knew where she bought them as well as how she used them. If pictures had been made we would know what dishes she used, etc.
You accomplished quite a lot deleting that many photos. I try to do that but I almost get sick like motion sickness when I go through many photos. I take entirely too many trying to get that perfect shot!
My favorite shot was your fashion shot. Love your outfit.
Off, to delete some pics.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, sweet Bonnie. I so hope to accomplish getting things organized over the next few months!
Gentle Joy Homemaker says
It was so fun to look at your collection of pictures… I know what you mean about having thousands… I have so many thousands and I use them, BUT I do want to come up with better ways of organizing them. 🙂 Thank you for an enjoyable post.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Joy, thanks so much! It is an effort to keep our photos organized! Happy Sunday!
Mary says
You get an ‘atta girl’ from me Pam! I’m constantly trying to keep up with photos by transferring off my laptop or deleting them and they still pile up. Ella Mae is a cutie pie!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Mary…I am trying to organize all my photos, a job that never seems to end!
Ginene Nagel says
Hi Deb, that is a great bunch of photographs. What an interesting life you have. I don’t know who the girl eating the dessert is, but she is very pretty. Love the outfit, too.

So much to clean, so little time! I would much rather clean my tech devices than my house! Not to mention you get to reminisce, so much more fun! Congrats on tackling and accomplishing!
Jenna
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks, Jenna. I used to love to clean my house, now it is not fun!
Lea says
Oh, I love to clean and organize and clean out my photos on my Ipad and phone at least every other day. I can’t stand letting them get the best of me. :o)) And, I work hard to stay on top of cleaning and organizing our home. It makes me happy to have order and cleanliness. Weird I guess. Interesting post, most enjoyable!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Lea, you sound so organized and wish I could do a better job. At least, I have accomplished organizing photos!

I think I need to call my “Spring Cleaning” this year “Everyday Cleaning” as it seems like every day I am adding things to my “letting it go” box! Loved going down memory lane with you!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Shirley, hope you enjoyed your trip and want to hear about it!
roseannmhampton says
It’s always so much fun looking through old pictures! When my mom passed away it took me days to sift through the large boxes of photos and it brought back such wonderful memories. And although I don’t know who some of the people are, I couldn’t part with a single one!
Debbie says
Love the photos you shared. I too thought and still want to do fashion posts but I just am not sure it will ever happen! I was just looking yesterday at the million photos I needed to let go of. I had no idea you could teach a class on tablescaping! It is one of the favorite things I do and I have done small tutorials, but a class? wow! thanks for joining TADA!
Jann Olson says
Fun seeing these photos Pam! Well, I wish I had been a bit more like you. After I do a blog post I delete many of my photos. Especially if they are just décor. Well, live and learn! I was contacted to be featured in a magazine, but because I didn’t save the original photos they couldn’t be used. 🙁 Now I load them on to a hard drive and save them. I clean out my photos regularly. What I don’t ever find time to do and need to badly is update my blog. It’s need a redo! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Oh, Jann how terrible that you could not be featured in the magazine. I know that was so disappointing! Thanks for all your inspiration!
Sandra Garth says
Cleaning out the photos is a daunting task that has to be done. Back in the fall I got rid of about 2k and lots of them were the same shot, LOL! Love the shot of the drone, they are my husbands hobby. Every once in a while he’ll buy one but he loves building them from scratch.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sandra, thanks so much! My son has an Aerial Photography business!
