“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1
Whew, with the storms that we had yesterday, and the green that is popping up all around, gardening is definitely on my mind! One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to buy garden books and peruse Pinterest for inspiration! This year is our third season with our small garden…and when I say small in size, I don’t mean in work, it can be very difficult and trying! Let me give you an example…one of our Japanese Maples is coming out very slowly, and a soft touch holly appears to be struggling! Last summer and fall brought us the worst drought that I can ever remember! Although we watered constantly, it doesn’t replace the good rain sent from our Father. Lately we have had significant rain during winter and early spring. I have much to learn, but I am enjoying the planning and planting….there’s always room to learn, right? Grab a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy the “glorious gardens” that I am sharing!

We worked in our garden last Saturday. As you can see, we are not finished. The weather has been warm… and yesterday we were under tornado watches! This weekend could be frost…welcome to our Alabama!
I ran out yesterday between thunderstorms and took these shots. Everything is greening up nicely. Hopefully that means we can start planting annuals soon.
The zoysia is a warm weather grass, so it is slow to green up…but when it does, it’s a showstopper!

We still have a garden shed on our project list…this one is cute, but probably too small for what I’m wanting!

Fences and arbors are always the perfect combo!

Oh, how I would love to find one of these for planting flowers!

I want to add a pretty birdhouse or two to our garden this year…to attract a few new feathery friends!

I’m so glad to know you didn’t have a tornado yesterday! I wouldn’t consider your garden “little” at all because I know how much work is involved. I’m avoiding thinking about all that needs to be done here to replace things we lost and get it looking pretty again. I lack the energy to even think about it. Thanks for the inspiration. Maybe this will help. 🙂
Kim, we were under a tornado watch all day, but thankfully we just had rain. I feel your pain with all the things we need to do. But, we will just do what we can, and no need to worry about the rest! Have a joy-filled Thursday!
Wow, wow, and WOW! I loved looking at all this garden inspiration. We are fairly new to the South and still trying to figure out this whole red clay thing. Last year’s drought reeked havoc with the bushes I planted in my yard, leaving me wistful for the rich Pacific Northwest loam 🙁 I’m trying again this year and am determined to one day have a picture worthy backyard.
Thank you for sharing Pam. I love your blog,
Patti
Any kind of garden is work for sure. But you do indeed have a lot to tend to but it is all beautiful! We had some rain but not much. We need rain bad as it is so dry. It is crazy at how the weather is these days. Have a great day. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thanks Cindy, wishing you a beautiful week! Hugs~
I love the donkey cart filled with flowers. I bought one about 20 years ago and have used it filled with everything from pumpkins to CHRISTMAS presents. Filling with planted flowers is an excellent idea that I might have to try. Your garden is looking great. Thanks for sharing.
Alice, what runs ways to use your donkey cart! Happy Sunday!
Oh, that Spring green in your yard is so pretty! We are slow to green up here in Upstate NY but a few things are starting to pop up, like crocus. Lots of clean-up to do and then I want to totally redo a large garden….sigh. May not happen!
Oh, I hope you will post your garden photos. It is a lot of work, but fun! Have a great week!
We love Spring time it Texas! Sadly, it doesn’t last long before the heat sets in. I love your garden! Personally, being addicted to my flower gardening, I know how much work is involved. Happy gardening!
Mary Ann, gardening is tough in Alabama. We never know if our summers will have extreme heat and little rain.
Your garden is coming along so nicely, definitely a labor of love (and a lot of it 🙂
The eye candy photos are simply dazzling.

Thanks Amalia for your sweet visits!
Pam, your garden is looking beautiful, and what wonderful inspiration you shared today! I pinned a few pictures for reference. We have been getting bids on pergolas this week, and I am getting excited! I know what you mean about this year’s harsh weather. We have lost a few shrubs due to a hard freeze. It looks like we are going to have to replace a few things. I am so anxious for the warmer temps and to be able to start planting!
Shannon, how exciting about a pergola. Butch built ours years ago, I love it!
Goat carts are usually for sale at Shipshewanna Flea Market in Indiana.
I would love to have one!
You have such a beautiful garden and love the inspiration photos….looking forward to your plans for your garden shed and your gorgeous gardens in bloom! Our grass loves the cold weather and it looks like a beautiful carpet of green…then the summer comes….
Shirley, I saw your pic on IG of the endless summer hydrangeas, I want to plant some this spring!
Your gardens are so varied and lovely… so inviting and what a joy it must be to spend time in them. 🙂
A garden requires time and patience, thanks so much!
Beautiful gardens set my mind at ease and we do have some beauties in Maine. As for mine, at least in the front, it is still a work in progress. I’m sure yours will turn out lovely as things bloom and grow.
Linda, my garden and landscaping is still a work in progress!
Swoon, everything is so beautiful Pam! I was really taken with the garden shed that had the French doors, wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to open one up like that in nice weather? Hopefully the crazy weather is over, we had golf ball sized hail in Vestavia!
Jenna
Thanks Jenna, we had light frost yesterday morning. Hopefully no more cold snaps!
Thank you for sharing these inspiring photographs. Your garden looks wonderful! I know it’s lots of hard work, but your work is really paying off. Everything looks lovely.
Thanks so much, Carol. Have a wonderful week!
This post is so well titled — these ARE glorious gardens! I do mostly container gardening of herbs although I do have a sweet pea plant that grows like Audrey 2 in Little Shop of Horrors and a hydrangea and hostas. I leave town most of the summer so that sort of wipes out anything requiring too much care!
Jeanie, fresh herbs are great! Happy Sunday!
Your garden is shaping up beautifully Pam! Love all the inspiration. I know your shed will be a show stopper. I was busy with some shed-keeping yesterday, trying to beat back the cobwebs 🙂
Thanks Mary. As you know gardening is always a work in progress!
I love seeing your yard, it says Spring is officially here! We have been yard working too…my back is mad can attest to that, lol
Like you I also have been looking at sheds. More for storage of all my gardener goodies, and it seems like it would be cheaper if I built my own! Whew the prices are outrageous.
Christine, it is definitely back-breaking work. Have a wonderful week!
Amazing garden! .Christine
Thank you Christine!
With all those beautiful gardens, you have me dreaming again. We’ve been waiting for the cement guy to come build us a walkway around the sides and back of our home. Rain keeps delaying the progress. We have made many trips to Alabama driving nearly the whole state looking for a perfect place to call home. You have such a lovely state. Huntsville is my husband’s favorite, but I’m holding out for a smaller town with active Farmer’s Markets. Let me know if you know of a town such as that please! Meanwhile, we’re adding projects that will give payback when it’s time to sell.
It sounds like you have an amazing plan. There are many smaller cities that will offer pretty scenery and farmers markets. I will try to send you some suggestions in a couple of days! Many folk have retired to our smaller town!
Wow! these are all so so beautiful!
Thanks Cristina!
Your garden is gorgeous and i love all your design inspirations too!
Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
Thanks so much, Susan for visiting!
Your garden is so beautiful. I have had similar stones as a front path for years but nothing will grow in between them. I don’t want to go with zoysia, but is that what you have? My dream was the blooming thyme meant for it but the stones get too hot in the summer and kill anything inbetween. Also every garden photo such an inspiration. I adore hydrangea and mine have not been too good in the past several years. I am feeding mine this year with some acidic soil feed. Can’t wait to see the final…Oh and would love to know if your garden statue has a name. I love it! Thank you for sharing at TADA! Thursdays
Debbie, zoysia is what we have and it is a thick carpet and really thrives in hot weather! Thanks so much!
Such inspiration! My backyard is on the schedule for next summer since a pool will be part of it. It will get a lot of use here in Florida! Thanks so much for sharing at Celebrate Your Story! Of course, now my backyard looks even drearier to me!
Chloe, a pool will be so enjoyable for you and your family!
Good Afternoon Pam, I have to say, by English standards, you have a beautiful large garden and I love how you have planted grass between the paving stones. I saw this technique when I visited my daughter, who used to live in Chennai, India. When the grass is green it looks absolutely stunning.
I used to live on the Island of Cyprus and we had huge water issues. I used to save all my shower water and we collected the rinse water from my washing machine to water our gardens. I did not use the first rinse, because that included the washing powder, but I used the rinse water after that.
Thank you for the treat of the gardens. Here in England we are just seeing plants pushing through the soil, so we have a little while longer to wait for the flowers to appear.
Have a lovely Easter weekend.
Best Wishes to you.
Daphne
Daphne, how sweet of you to visit and to leave such lovely comments. The English gardens are my favorite. Our climate is so hot in summer that it limits what we can grow. Living on Cyprus sounds so romantic, but having to save washing water for your plants had to be a chore! I hope you had a wonderful Easter! Blessings~
How beautiful these are! I have always loved the brick with the varnish or whatever it is that makes them glossy. Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
Thanks so much, Sherry!
