“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end”
Revelation 22:13
As women, don’t we all love a good movie that reaches out and grabs us…and then we have to reach out and grab a box of tissues?! On Sunday afternoon, I personally needed my very own box of tissues when Katy and I went to see “Same Kind Of Different As Me”.
Last week, I read a blog post that encouraged everyone to go and see the movie…but I didn’t need a lot of encouragement because I had read the book when it came out in 2006! I absolutely loved it and recommended it to my ladies small group, friends and family!
This is a little out of the “Everyday Living box”, but a movie like this deserves a strong recommendation…
Although I knew the storyline, I wasn’t anticipating what I would see on that big screen for the next two hours. Heartache. Restoration. Compassion. Selflessness. Injustice. Pain. Real life that mirrored the gospel in the way that hope was brought about full circle.
What I would love to do is tell you all about how the movie unfolds and how it ends in a way that leaves you unable to move…but then you wouldn’t go see it! But what I will say is that “Same Kind Of Different As Me” reminds us that we each enter and go through life on the same ground. We make mistakes. We give our lives to the wrong things. We are wronged in ways that feel as though they will never heal. But there is a much bigger story being written than what we can see. Only God sees the end from the beginning…The Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last.
And the best part…it is based on a true story!
I will just leave you with this…

Thank you for reaching out to us with this recommendation. As you so eloquently stated, we all face challenges, we make mistakes, we need forgiveness and restoration. We are more alike than we are different. You are my sister in Christ and I am grateful to you.
