“…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
Happy Thursday sweet friends! I was going to talk about the weather, but I think I have said everything there is to say, it is and always will be unpredictable…so I will just move on! This is the fourth installment of This & That. I really enjoy sharing with you the real day to day stuff. There is much more than tablescapes, vignettes, and gardening here at Everyday Living. A special thank you for your kindness about these posts. Now let’s see what we have been up to…
I have already shared our anniversary getaway with you all, but I just had to share a few more photos. It is hard for us to get a picture together when we are traveling. The waiter at Madisons took this slightly blurry photo for us.
A perfect after dinner small bite…raspberry and cream with dark chocolate! I love to take food photos, which are challenging at best, but particularly difficult in a restaurant.
The dining room at Half Mile Farm had a cozy fire to knock off the chill of the windows and French doors. Can you imagine a room that three sides opens to the outdoors? What a perfect place for a social hour!
These strawberries were delicious…stuffed with cream cheese and pepper jelly!
I am crazy for detail…a pretty lamp in our suite!
It was a cloudy morning on Apple Lake!
My sweetheart of 45 years at Bridal Veil Falls!
The Bascom – A Center for the Visual Arts is located in Highlands, NC. Butch and I spent about an hour outside looking at the diverse exhibitions. This sculpture is made of cast iron, bronze, and steel. The artist is Vaughn Randall.
Made from cast iron and copper, Ken Payne is the artist.
Coral Penelope Lambert sculpted this from cast iron, steel, and felt.
Made of cast iron and steel by artist Tamsie Ringler.
Artist Carl Billingsley made this piece from cast iron and steel.
John K Melvin’s Open Frame Experience was made from reclaimed lumber. We found this exhibit interesting and
definitely different. I am amazed at the creativity of using different materials! What do you think?
If you are a regular reader of Everyday Living, you know I keep our precious twenty-two month old granddaughter Monday thru Wednesday. These stuffed animals are now thirty years old that we kept from Ella Mae’s daddy’s childhood. We arrange them every morning and then they follow her for nap time.
One of our favorite activities is reading.
What a joy to spend time teaching her about Jesus!
Our weather was really warm a few weeks ago and we enjoyed playing outside. The “little princess” is doing some serious thinking!
Last Friday morning at 2 a.m., Butch was awakened with horrible pain. I was so frightened that he was having a heart attack. We threw on clothes and rushed to the ER. Thankfully it wasn’t his heart, but a gall bladder attack, a first for him. They kept him in the hospital until early evening on Saturday. If you read Tablescape Tuesday, I mentioned that I had to set the table in a hurry, now you know why. Surgery will be upcoming. But, Ella Mae sure brightened his stay!
I look forward to each of your sweet visits and the comments you leave.
Tomorrow is Floral Friday with my talented friends Shirley, Mary, and Lidy. There will be of lots of spring floral inspiration that you will not want to miss!

I love your post …
Everything is beautiful, everything is kind, welcoming, beautiful … and do you know why ?, Because in all the images and words there is one that stands out above the others: LOVE. It is not expressed aloud, it is in the environment, it is in the heart.
My wish is that love reign among you all your life and I am sure of it because among you is Jesus who is Love.
A big hug
Dolores

Hola querida Dolores, gracias por tu deliciosa visita. Tus palabras siempre son preciosas y alentadoras. ¡Enviando abrazos y espero que estés viendo algunos signos de la primavera! Bendiciones, Pam

Yes it’s a beautiful post, I agree with Dolores.
The sculpture described thus “ Coral Penelope Lambert sculpted this from cast iron, steel, and felt.” with the knobs sticking out, looks like a Dalek from Dr Who. Many Americans are not familiar with that series, it’s British, and we Aussies grew up with it as we got BBC programs.
I’m afraid the timber one looks like a house after a hurricane or something. Maybe they were making some point about that.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks for commenting on the sculptures, I am not familiar with the British series, sounds interesting!
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
A beautiful post of such creativity from talented souls. It is wonderful to see the finished product from such artistic talent.
Precious Ella Mae is always a delight to see. Wishing Butch the best and a speedy recovery. So glad you all were not on your trip when he had the attack.
Have a lovely day, hope you are seeing nice weather.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dearest Sandra! Have a beauty-filled day!

Thank you for sharing your lives with us. These are some of my favorite posts. The backdrops in both of the pictures of you and then Butch is amazing…the reflection of trees in the lake and the rocks behind Butch. Loved seeing you two together enjoying your anniversary. I enjoyed the art and the old buildings surrounding them. Drum roll……the photos of Ella Mae, the stuffed animals, the book with her tiny hands…precious beyond words! Reminds me when Maddie was that age and I would open Jenn’s little Bible and tell her that Jesus loves her and all the children. Dolores said it best. It is about love. Pure joy. Thank you.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear friend, there is nothing better than sharing with your grandchild the love of Jesus!
Alycia Nichols says
You guys have been super busy!!! And having fun!!! Why is it, though, that nearly every photo taken by wait staff turns out blurry?!??!? I guess they’re busy. But you guys look super happy! Great vacation spot, and those rusted displays of metal are awesome. I love the look of artful rust that goes beyond shabby chic. It reminds me of my Grandparents’ rural farm where I spent a lot of time as a child.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alycia, thank you sweet friend. I hope you are still recovering nicely! Can’t wait for you to be at blogging full speed!

I love seeing the world through your eyes, Pam, and the way you make tiny details magical in your photography. It is making me look around this world with a more appreciative eye. Wishing Butch good luck and prayers for getting that pesky gallbladder out. I was just with my sister a few weeks ago for her surgery, and she feels so much better now with it gone.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks for the well wishes. Butch sees a surgeon next week, so hopefully it can be removed. I always love your comments, Roxanne!
marmeladegypsy says
This post is loads of fun (except the gall bladder) and I love that you had such a glorious time on your anniversary trip! Gerat pix — keep ém coming!
Tell Butch the surgery is pretty darned easy and after he will feel so much better. Mine came on unexpectedly fast (and ER was involved). It was a month till my surgery but I ate VERY low fat between those times (and lost weight, too, a bonus!) and smaller meals with snacks. I didn’t have any recurrence between the initial attack and the surgery. You want to avoid that for sure! But he will be fine and the recovery isn’t bad. I’m sure he’s no fan of hospitals but after his previous experience, this one should be a blip on the radar!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you for your sweet comments, Jeanie. Unfortunately Butch had another attack on Monday night. He see a surgeon next week. He has been eating very strict.
Rita C. says
Ella Mae’s a doll! Sorry for Butch’s gall bladder….all that rich food you guys so enjoy! Glad it wasn’t his appendix.

Such darling pics of you two!! So enjoy all of your pics of your travels. We celebrate our 45th year next year so I may have to put where you stayed on my to do list.
Butch’s surgery will be such a success!! My oldest daughter had her surgery six weeks after she had my first grandson and the three days before my youngest daughter’s wedding which was out of town, in Destin. Wow, I never want a repeat of that week again!! My oldest daughter healed quickly and has had no further problems.
Really adore your sweet pics of your cute granddaughter!! It is such a blessing to take care of them and resurrect all of your child’s toys and use them on your grands!! Fisher Price Farm and Jetport have been revived time and time again with so much pleasure by all five grands of ours!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Penny, thank you for your sweet and encouraging comments. Wow, that was a tough week before your daughter’s wedding. Five grands must be loads of fun. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
