“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.”
Jeremiah 17:7
Happy Thursday, sweet friends! Finally, after many twists and turns with our weather, it’s finally time to step out into the garden! If you have been following our Everyday Living for a while, then you will remember that we started building our little haven in the backyard in the late spring of 2015. And if you are a new reader, then we want to welcome you to the place that we spend most of our time when the weather allows! You will find us here often…eating alfresco, weeding the flowerbeds, and just enjoying the sunshine! Since the weather is beautiful here in the Appalachian Foothills today, let’s take a little walk through the early spring garden!
*
The color of the Sunshine ligustrums against the Bloodgood Japanese Maple is amazing!
The center of the garden is planted with Soft Touch Hollies (lower level) and Arabis Snowcap (upper). I will be planting annuals between the hollies. Last year it was vinca and previously lantana…still haven’t decided what it will be this year.
Coral drift roses will be in bloom in a few weeks and limelight hydrangeas are leafing!
The bronze statue is a fountain, but my Renaissance Man from the very beginning said no to a water feature (too much upkeep)!!!
Chocolate mint is already filling the chippy pot. I learned the hard way, never plant mint in the ground. It will invade your garden!
In spite of on and off again cold weather, the Lady Banks Roses have been spectacular!
I have shared the roses on Floral Friday and Espresso & Biscotti!
The Adagio Maiden Grasses were cut back almost to the ground. As you can see, they are thriving!
Pride of Mobile Azaleas are located in our front landscape and they are in full bloom!
Its rich rose-pink three-four inch flowers make it a popular choice for Southern gardens!
Pride of Mobile azaleas can grow quite large. This one is probably twelve feet in height!
The Chinese Snowball bushes have survived the cold spells this spring.
Their blooms are first a pretty green…
Zoysia is a warm weather grass that is thick like a carpet and was planted in the garden.
Yellow Banks Roses cascading to the ground!
Thank you for your visits and taking time to comment! Have you made any gardening plans?

What a beautiful garden you have! The colors are amazing! Spring has sprung at your place. Thank you for taking us on a stroll through your garden! Have a lovely day!

Thank you so much, Nancy!
Alice says
Wow Pam! I remember when you and Butch had the garden planned. It has grown so beautifully. It’s still snowing here and the first wood iris is blooming but the buttercups and tulips haven’t . My cousin in NC sent me a picture of the wisteria blooming and I’m envious. I would also spend most of my day in the garden if it ever warms up here. Enjoy!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, I know you miss the South. Hopefully warm weather will come soon, my friend!
Bonnie Morgan says
Lovely stroll through your garden this morning. It was fun to hear your plans about planting annuals and see your well planned trees and scrubs strut their forms and colors.Your Japanese maples are so striking against the sunshine ligustrums and the snowball in the background.
Have a great day! Thanks for the beauty.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Bonnie, have a wonderful weekend!
Bonnie Morgan says
For some reason the time I posted my comment above is one hour ahead of time.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
That is crazy?
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Oh Pam – what a magnificent garden. It is such a treat to see such glorious blooms, especially since things haven’t begun to leaf out here. Thank you for inviting all of us to your garden, the visit was such a pleasure from beginning to end ! It will be wonderful to watch it continue to unfold as spring moves along.
Have a lovely day, in your beautiful garden !
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Sandra. As you know, it takes a lot of work!
Rita C. says
How wonderful to see true spring somewhere! I suspect it will be at least three, maybe four, weeks before I can do any fleshed out garden post. Right now things are droopy (hyacinths and daffodils, still), and just leafing out. It’s a joy to see yours, Pam!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rita, gardening is a battle against the elements. We are supposed to have storms on Saturday.

So beautiful! I could spend many, many hours just enjoying this lovely garden. Your hard work has definitely paid off! May God bless you and Butch as y’all bless others
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, it is a lot of work, but we enjoy seeing it grow! Blessings to you, Bobbie!

You all have done a splendid job creating garden spaces. Isn’t it wonderful seeing everything come to life again?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
It is hard work, but seeing it come back to life after winter is a reward!
The Garden Hoe Lady says
Your garden is so inspirational, especially since Spring is late in coming to Wisconsin. I would love to know where you found such adorable Angels for your garden centerpiece?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie Jean, thank you for visiting. I have been searching for your blog and I can’t find it. Please let me know how to find you. I love visiting with fellow gardeners. I found my statuary at a local shop that sources from estate sales. It is actually an old piece. Thank you so much and have a wonderful weekend!
Sharon Johnson Elsberry says
Wow…Your garden is so beautiful!! I love it!! My snowball blooms but not as full as yours…What fertilizer do you use? ALL of your posts are lovely! Thank you for sharing your passion!! Amazing!! Have a blessed week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sharon, we haven’t fertilized them in a couple of years. Last year they were completely bloomed out and we had a frost that zapped all of the blooms. I was afraid that was going to happen this year and it didn’t. Thank you so much for following and taking time to comment!
Roxanne says
Sharon, my snowball bush has been spectacular this year because it warmed up so much; other years it’s just okay. I haven’t fertilized it in 20 years. Last year all the its blooms and my azalea blooms were wiped out by a late freeze. I think the it depends a lot on the weather.
Sandy Park says
Pam, your garden is beyond words beautiful. What a treasured place. Unfortunately my garden plans are that I hope to remember to water my Iris, so I’ll have to enjoy your garden/flowers when you post.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Sandy! Be sure to water your Iris!
Liz-Home and Gardening With Liz says
I’m envious that you have so many shrubs blooming already! That snowball shrub is fantastic! Love the contrast of the bright golden yellow privet near the deep burdguny leaves of the tree. I haven’t made too many plans yet but my mind is stirring about my gardens. We’re having such a slow start to spring it’s been hard to get focused.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Liz. Spring is beautiful here, but the pollen has been horrendous. We are expecting storms today, never a good thing in the South!
inspiredbyjoydianne says
Pam, thank you for sharing your gardens this morning. They are amazing..the lingstrum against the Japanese maples, the snowballs, azaleas (wow), and my favorite the Lady Banks roses. All the statutory adds character to all this beauty. I know you are in a warmer zone than I am but I have very little blooming. The cold took out a few things. Yes, I have a plan. I have some very blank spaces that need attention. I draw it out before I go to B. B. Barnes so I don’t get side tracked and just buy things I love. Your gardens made my day!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Dianne, we have planted any annuals yet because it has been unseasonably cool. Hopefully we can get started
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sorry, Dianne, I hit send by mistake. Hopefully we can get our plants bought and planted over the next couple of weeks. We are expecting storms on Saturday!
the Painted Apron says
Those snowballs, swoon Pam! Your garden is better than the Botanical Gardens and right in your own backyard! I would never leave home!!

This is spectacular, Pam. I know how much work this takes (which is why I have NOTHING like this in my life!). It’s hard, backbreaking work taking care of it but oh, does it ever pay off! Stunning!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, Jeanie it is hard work, but it does have some rewards! Thank you my friend!
Stacey @ Poofing the Pillows says
Your gardens are just amazing! Do you and Butch have help caring for all of this? We have space at this house but I’m trying to be careful about the maintenance in the future. I love Sunshine Ligustrum and we’ve planted it here for the first time. Those colors just pop!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Stacey. We do all of the work, no outside help. The sunshine ligustrums are easy maintenance!
Carolyn says

Pam, your garden always has me oohing and ahhing! Ours is just barely starting to come to life. I am still doing spring clean up. Yesterday I did my East side. I have an Azalea over there and it is struggling. Three years old and it has hardly grown. They don’t do real well here, but I was hoping! 🙂 Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann

Dolores Velasco says
Friend Pam, thanks to you I can feel the spring. I believe that this florid friend has forgotten us. It only rains and it rains, and it’s cold (6 to 8 degrees C), and I still have to put on my winter coat and gloves !! … Can you imagine?
The garden looks very beautiful, the central rotunda with the sculpture of the children is incredibly beautiful and all the other plants look simply spectacular.
Well … how lucky I am for you and I can know that spring has really arrived.
Enjoy this beautiful garden.
Dolores

Abrazos, Pam

What a beautiful garden Pam, such a lovely place to have a cuppa! We are in Autumn here so the Bromeliads are in flower & our Tippacenas are in full bloom…just beautiful!
Blessings,
Jennifer
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jennifer. Spring and autumn are both beautiful seasons, with autumn being my favorite!
Roxanne says
I enjoyed the walk through your garden so much! Thank you for identifying the plantings as you went along. Spring certainly is a reminder that no matter what life events happen to us personally, the seasons still roll on.
Be safe with the predicted bad weather. I’m in Charleston throwing my baby sister a 50th birthday party. (I’m 15 years older!) It was supposed to be a cookout for 70, and heavy rain is predicted here right during the party. Luckily, a dear friend was able to get us her condo clubhouse!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, what a beautiful sister you are. I am glad it worked out for you to move to the club house. Spring in the South is lovely but we have to endure the spring storms, which can become very violent! Wishing you a beautiful celebration and a Happy Birthday to your sister. Send me some photos, it sounds so fabulous!
Sandra @ Dinner at Eight says
So lovely! Spring is my favorite time to garden — all the delight and none of the heat! You’re not far from me but your garden is ahead of mine. It’s so fun and inspiring to see gardens in various stages of regrowth and new life. Please keep sharing your wonderful photos!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra, we share a love for gardening!
Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors says
Pam, what stunning pictures of your garden! They belong in Southern Living Magazine! We are not going to have much of a spring garden this year. The freeze got most of our azaleas. I’m so sorry I’m so late in commenting. I have been very sick with a terrible infection that has thrown me for a loop. I hope you have a wonderful day, sweet friend!!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Shannon. I am so sorry that you have been so sick. Take care of yourself sweet friend and I hope you feel better!❤️
Libby @ Beauty Without Within says
Breathtaking beauty where ever the eye may roam. The hail storm that came through last week striped our gorgeous azaleas but thankfully didn’t do any other damage. Thank you for sharing your early spring yard with us.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Elizabeth, I am so glad the hail storm didn’t do damage to your home! Blessings~
Joanna VonBergen says
Pam, everything looks amazing! As soon as our 18+ inches of fresh snow melts, hopefully I’ll be able to start doing some clean up. This was such a treat for my winter weary eyes!

Thank you Joanna. Hopefully the snow will melt soon! Happy Gardening!

I so enjoyed my little stroll through your lovely garden today! Here in VA our spring has been very slooow in coming, we had snow last Monday! My lovely red maple is just beginning to leaf, but the Redbuds and Tulip Magnolias are gorgeous here. Mr Renaissance Man sounds like a Grumpy Gardener though. I can’t believe he’d say no to a water feature in a garden! No garden is complete without one or two! It sets such a soothing and calming atmosphere with the light trickle of running water. I seldom have much to do but feed the goldfish every few days.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much for visiting with me in the garden. My sweet hubby had wrestled with the fountain for years and I give him a pass. He is far from grumpy. But, your comment made me laugh! Have a wonderful day!
Tammie Price says

Your garden is stunning! I love the deep color of your azaleas. Our grass hasn’t greened-up yet. It seems we’re ht last in the neighborhood, but it stays green through November! Did y’all have any storms this past week? We’re still cleaning-up from what blew through Sunday through Tuesday.
Carolyn Roach says
Beautiful, Pam. I am well aware of the work it takes to produce this masterpiece and my hat is off to both of you. Love it. I live nearby, just a bit north, and mine garden is lovely now. Such a difficult winter. So glad to see springtime. I hope your garden is on a tour someday and I can come. Kudos.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Carolyn, I would love to see your garden. Gardening is very hard work, but the payoff is rewarding! Happy Wednesday!
