“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
Colossians 3:14
Hello lovely friends! I can hardly believe today is the first day of June! By now, I am sure most of you have summer vacations planned, perhaps at the beach…or maybe the mountains…or some exotic faraway place! I haven’t made any plans and since I am the travel agent of the family, I must get started.
Today is also the first Friday of the month which means I am joining my very talented friends Lidy, Mary, and Shirley for Floral Friday! You will find their links at the bottom of my post.
Now let’s take a walk out to the garden for a blooming box and dessert!

I had a small window of opportunity to set a table in the garden between rain and dark threatening clouds. Hopefully, Alberto has now departed!
Our common theme for this Floral Friday is to design flowers in a box.
I left my house early Tuesday morning in pouring rain to drive forty minutes to an amazing hydrangea farm. By the time I arrived, it was only misting rain. I quickly jumped in Martha’s golf cart and off we went to cut hydrangeas and take in the view. With a late frost this year, hydrangeas are blooming much later (I have tiny buds on mine). Here you see rows of Blue Nikko’s that will be fully bloomed in a few days. Martha is knowledgeable and a lovely lady to visit with…I left with a bucket full of blooms!
I brought back three varieties of hydrangeas to use in my arrangement. The box is 27 1/2 inches long, 4 inches in depth, and 5 1/2 inches in width. I placed 5 short jam jars in the box and spaced them equally. After filling the jars with water, I cut the hydrangea stems really short and began placing the blooms in the jars until the box was completely filled with no visible gaps. This is my go-to for a quick and easy centerpiece. Seriously, you can’t make a mistake!
The pink hydrangea is called “Let’s Dance Moonlight.” It offers large mophead flowers in summer, with the added bonus of great fall foliage color. Soil pH affects blossom color.
Lemon poppy seed muffins, banana-walnut bread, shortbread cookies, and sweet iced tea!
I love the mix of blue, pink, and white in the box. You could use all one color or a mixture of flowers. The white hydrangeas are called “blushing bride”, which as the name suggests has a soft white bloom with an elegant touch of color. The blue hydrangeas are Nikko.
The sun came out in brief intervals as I was shooting photos, casting a glow on the hay that is ready for cutting…it needs a few days of drying first!
The embroidered tablecloth is a special memento that I found on a wonderful trip to St. Thomas in 1984.
You might also notice a strawberry pound cake!
Be sure to visit each one my lovely friends for stunning flower therapy and loads of inspiration.

Just beautiful Pam! What fun to visit a hydrangea farm! I love the mixture of colors in your box… “Let’s Dance Moonlight”~ what a great name. I always thought naming flowers (or paint colors) would be a fun job. Your dessert buffet is the icing on the cake, presented on your pretty embroidered tablecloth in your garden! Everything looks oh so tempting this morning! Our Endless Summer Hydrangeas are blooming and loving all our rain…unlike a lot of things in the garden that are starting to complain, including me! So glad you found a dry window to photograph. Thank you for a beautiful and delicious start to my day. Happy June. ♥

Did you by chance interview Ms. Martha on growing hydrangeas? Mine are green and lush, but rarely bloom. I never prune them or fertilize them, benign neglect obviously does not work. Your table is beautiful, I especially love the white hobnail glasses. Have a happy weekend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, your hydrangeas might need a little TLC?. Thank you dear friend and have a wonderful weekend!

Oh Pam, so much to love in your post. Your tablecloth took me back to a great time in my life when I had an embroidered blouse like your tablecloth. My mother in law brought it back from Hawaii for me.I adore your hobnob glasses and those pink textured napkins. I noticed that your table and chairs were white first thing as well as your tuteur. Your box is so attractive and thanks for measurements. Hygranges are lovely. I’ve not heard about a hydrangea farm. How nice for one to be close by and to be able to purchase flowers. That’s a great idea. Your table is stunning.
We are driving to our daughters for a three day weekend. Happy Friday.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, you would love the hydrangea farm! I plan to return when they are at peak bloom! Yes, Butch decided he wanted to paint them white! They certainly show up more! I really like them white for a change! Have fun, I still want to talk about your trip. We are going down to Bottega Cafe tonight for dinner!

Those are the prettiest hydrangeas! Love how they look arranged in the box planter. My hydrangeas aren’t doing very well this year- barely leafed out and probably won’t have blooms this time. That must have been a treat to visit that hydrangea farm! I hope you have more pictures!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Liz! My Hydrangeas are very slow this year!

A hydrangea farm!!! How fabulous is that! That must have been an experience! And look at those cuttings!

Wow! Best post ever! Love everything about it. Painting the table white makes everything on the table stand out. Being from the South myself, I can appreciate working in the garden when the humidity and the temps are high. It takes love of gardening to go forth and yours is most beautiful. It would take more than humidity to run me in the house. .
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, thank you! The humidity and temps have been wonderful the past two days!

Gorgeous post. Hydrangeas are my favorite, but my plants never produce much with the lousy weather we have in Chicagoland. Your pictures and garden are so fabulous, I wish I could put up a tent and move in.
