“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”
Philippians 4:4
Happy Summer! As we officially welcome the first day of summer, I actually think it began a few weeks ago in NE AL with daily temps in the 90’s and high humidities. In spite of the heat, I am in the garden today to show you how much everything has grown since my last garden post four weeks ago. Grab your hat and sunscreen and join me…there might be a glass of ice-cold sweet tea and a pretty pair of gloves for weeding!

Last Saturday evening we received rain after an extremely long dry spell. The light was amazing afterwards, I just had to grab my camera.
I am smitten with the Indigo Frost Agapanthus.
If you look up you can see the Sioux Crape Myrtles have some pink blooms at the top. In the foreground is Purple Fountain Grass that is an annual.
I am often asked about the bronze statue that is the centerpiece of the garden. It was sourced locally and I have had it for years. It was originally in my front landscape.
Soft Touch Hollies and Vinca surround the statue on the lower tier.
Fog is often over the garden in the early morning…
Late evening after the rain, a couple of our deer population appeared in the pasture. I only got one in this frame, but they were a pair of young bucks wearing velvet on their antlers.
Limelight hydrangeas will be in full bloom in the next couple of weeks.
Zinnias are the perfect summer annual.
The back of the garden has filled in after a heavy pruning of the limelights and sunshine ligustrums in late winter!
After a couple of funny comments about the “Cousin Its” (remember the old sitcom, The Addams Family) in my garden, I pulled this photo from a couple of weeks ago. The Adagio Maiden Grasses have grown more since this picture was taken. The back story is Mr. Renaissance Man loves ornamental grasses. They were not in our original plan for the garden, but it was his only request. At first, I wasn’t crazy about the idea, but we went with it. I love them and they make a great backdrop for Tablescaping! Now you know?
This coming Monday will be our second Gardens Galore Link Up Party. This isn’t just for bloggers, but if you are a garden enthusiast you will want to see all of the gardens that are shared. By visiting several times, you can catch them all. I can’t wait to party in the garden with all of you!
This photo was taken from the back corner of the garden looking toward our carport and side porch with the hubby’s workshop on the left. You can barely see the mountain over the porch, but from the front of our house we have a beautiful view of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
I am always grateful to you, sweet friends, for your visits and comments. I am blessed by your friendship! Wishing you a joy filled Thursday!

How lovely your garden looks in the evening with the pretty glow after the rain as well as your early morning foggy pictures. How exciting to capture the deer in the distance. Butch must keep the deer feed away from the garden or they would be visiting.
I especially like your day lily, agapanthus, and zinnia photos.
Please share some pruning tips for the limelights. Mine has grown so much and I have lots of blooms coming but because it doesn’t get full sun I don’t think I will have pretty filled out blossoms like you. If only Mike would let me cut a few more trees!
I marvel how well planned your garden is and love the large rocks and stone wall.
Good morning Bonnie. Butch cut the limelights way back almost to the ground. Limelights do like the sun. They are the star of my garden. It is raining here with rain forecasted through Saturday. I hope you will link up on Monday.
Bonjour, magnifique jardin et superbes photos ! Quel enchantement ….Bravo !!!
Merci Catherine! J’adore vos visites … je vous souhaite un merveilleux week-end!
So beautiful, Pam!
Thank you dear friend!
Wow, Pam, you have such a fantastic garden space! That stone path is wonderful, so much space to enjoy. Your flowers are so pretty, love your photos.
Thank you Carole. I sure enjoy gardening!
Your garden is flourishing. All your blooms look so beautiful. A well planned garden that brings joy to you and all of us who follow you. Blessings.
Thank you Dianne. It is raining here and is supposed to rain for the next three days. I am sure I will be weeding afterwards. But, I am grateful for the rain.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!Hugs!
Thanks Maristella!
Happy Summer Solstice, Pam! Your gardens are lush and beautiful. I absolutely love the fog backdrop and the light after the storm!
I have planted zinnias from seeds – my first time this year – and they’re near blooming with buds. I am still in maintenance mode, continuously dividing, transplanting, mulching, weeding and watering, and waiting for my next flush of blooms. 🙂
Rita, I have always bought zinnias to plant but this year I planted seeds. The plants are so tall and the blooms are prettier than the bought plants.
Pam, your gardens are stunning! I hope those deer haven’t destroyed anything yet. I’m envious of your photography skills… some day I’ll get there. I’m looking forward to Monday. Happy gardening!
Thank you Joanna. I have much to learn about gardening and photography! See you at Gardens Galore on Monday!
Your garden is so beautiful!
Thank you Penny! Have a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful pictures. How in the world do you keep the deer out of your garden? If I was a deer I would make a delicious salad from your garden?
Alice, Butch feeds the deer in our back pasture. I wouldn’t be surprised to get up some morning and half of the garden chewed down. They did eat my endless summer hydrangeas in our front yard last year.
Such gorgeous pictures on this first day of summer! I love the hardscape you have used for your paths. It adds such a beautiful touch to your gardens, and I always admire the beautiful statue. I am patiently waiting on things to bloom and grow. It’s been a difficult year because we had a late freeze and went straight to summer. Happy first day of summer, sweet friend!!!
Thank you dear friend, happy Weekend to you!
Your garden appears as a work of love as well as an artistic creation.
Thank you Linda! Happy Friday!
Cousin It was my favorite character, so any plant that resembles him in any way is aces in my book! What beautiful grounds you have!!! Oh, my goodness! So lush and inviting!!! A couple of the photos reminded me of the movie “Midnight In the Garden of Good & Evil”!!! Looking at your purple fountain grass has prompted me to make a note to include it in my planting next year. I always overlook something until I see it so elegantly displayed elsewhere. Yours is really full!!! Man, this is beautiful!!! As soon as my body gets right again, I’ll be back out there trying to catch up with you!!!! Have a great weekend!
Alycia, you are so sweet to visit. The purple fountain grass gives a nice contrasting texture in the garden. You should have great success with it. Happy Friday!
Pam, your garden is glorious! I so love the photo with the fog in the background. I have always enjoyed the fog, I love to see it over the mountains here and in VA it would roll in across the fields. Just beautiful! Also, enjoyed seeing your zinnias. I just planted some to have for late summer color – they are such happy plants. Our limelight hydrangea doesn’t bloom until late July/August, it is also a treat for late summer.
As I have said many times before, I would love to come and just sit and take in your garden. I would be happy and content for hours!
Happy summer days to you, dear friend! Stay cool!
Happy summer days and gardening to you dear friend! Zinnias are happy flowers!
Pam dear, it has been a pleasure to walk through your garden on this first day of summer. 3 years ago we communicated and I have seen carefully what has changed in all this time. The central part of the garden is very beautiful, the photos are magnificent. Good job Butch!
Well, finally the summer began in Majadahonda – Madrid – Spain …. timidly but here it is. Do you know that last week I had to put the heating in my house because it froze me cold?
Now it is no longer cold but the temperature is like spring.
It is a great pleasure to see your garden so beautiful and with such a varied color of nature that surrounds it.
Dolores
Your garden is beautiful.
Thank you so much Carol Mae! Happy Friday~
Your garden is magical, beautiful, and inspiring. I would never leave home!
Thank you Roxanne! Happy Friday~
Lovely garden, well done to both of you. The fog pic is awesome.
I think it’s wise to have your bronze statue in the back. I had a sundial stolen from my front garden once. It was given for my 30 th birthday by my colleagues, so I’m still sad about the theft.
Thank you Cath! I am sorry your sundial was stolen.
Pam, your garden is always stunning! I love how the garden looks after a refreshing rain!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
Thank you Jann!
I don’t know which is more stunning, your garden or your photography! Love the capture of the deer and the morning fog. It must be incredible living with such a garden in your backyard, and please tell Butch that his “It” grasses are my favorite part!
Jenna
Jenna, thank you. I will tell Butch!
tHANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR GARDEN, jUST MAGNIFICENT!!!
Thank you for visiting Lori!
Just gorgeous Pam! I’m enchanted by your ‘foggy’ shots…your garden looks so peaceful and tranquil. A perfect spot to start your day enjoying a little birdsong and meditation with a cup of coffee before the hustle and bustle. I love that you captured Mr. Deer. Butch is so smart to feed them so hopefully they sated and not looking to nosh on your hydrangeas or other plants in the future. I do like the grasses for their feathery plumes and they add interest in the fall. Looking forward to seeing you in the garden Monday. ♥
Thank you Mary! I wouldn’t be surprised to look out one morning and see the deer having a salad in the garden for breakfast. Hopefully not. I will see you Monday in the garden! ❤️
Oh, my word, Pam! This is just utterly breathtaking!! Being new to your blog, this is the first time I have seen your garden…this is completely amazing!!!!! I feel like I am right there walking through it. The first thing that came to my mind is “what a perfect place to pray!” I can only imagine how blessed it is to go out there and sit and talk to the dear Lord. You are right…it DOES look ethereal, and just imagine how beautiful Heaven must be! To see this reminds me of Heaven and all Jesus is now preparing for us! His presence graces us so sweetly in places like this down here, and just think! There we will BE in His presence, in person!! Your posts always inspire me so much…I am so thankful God allowed our blogging paths to cross! God bless you richly.
Thank you Cheryl. You know how to encourage a girl for sure. I can only imagine heaven and the beauty that our eyes will behold. But most of all, when we see Jesus. I am also glad our blogging paths have crossed. Have a wonderfully blessed Sunday!
Cheryl, you know how to encourage. Thank you fo sharing your beautiful ministry! Blessings my friend!
Just wonderful. A feast for my eyes. Thanks for sharing pictures.
Lovely photos of a beautiful garden. What a great place to work in,relax in and enjoy!
Thank you for visiting Angie!
It will be another month before my zinnias flower but they are growing tall. I hope they end up as lovely as yours! Looking forward to the garden party tomorrow! And big sighs with this gorgeous post!
Thank you dear Jeanie! Zinnias are happy flowers.
So very lovely and filling in nicely. Hard to believe it’s only been a few years since you started this garden. I like ornamental grasses but I don’t have enough sunny parts of the yard for them. Deer have become the bane of my garden — 95 houses in our subdivision, but it’s my garden they visit, dine and sleep in (they flatten my Siberian irises). It be funny if it weren’t so aggravating!
Oh those deer, major problems for gardeners!
Pam, your garden is just gorgeous. The daylilies are particularly beautiful.
Thank you Lisa. I am so glad you joined the party!
Your gardens are always such an inspiration!
The glow after the rain was ah-mazing!
How do you keep the deer from partaking of your garden?
The deer are ever present, my husband keeps feed in the back of the pasture for them! I fully expect to look out one morning to find the entire deer population partied in the garden!
Your garden is a fairy tale dream, that you made come true! I am featuring you today at TFT!

Thanks so much Amber!
You are the gardener of my dreams. My Mother was like that, but I have brown thumb. I am a hit and miss gardener.
I adore your gardens so much Pam! You must live in them daily to keep them so well tended and thriving. They look like they came straight out of a magazine! Thank you for sharing them with for our Summer Garden Party!
Jemma
Pam, your gardens are always one of my favorites. They look like they stepped right out of a magazine. 🙂 I too love how the garden looks after a summer rain. I love Agapanthus! Just an annual here. I usually plant a few, but didn’t run across any this year. Thanks for sharing with the Garden Party.
hugs,
Jann
Hi, I found you through Between Naps on the Porch. I really liked your mossy bunnies, but I love your garden posts! I have already added your Echos of Mercy day lilly to my birthday wish list! Thank you so much for all the garden pictures that really bring me joy. I’m sending a link to my mom. I haven’t been able to see her for over a month and it wil probably be longer as my dad is high risk, so I will have to wait for everything to be all clear. My mom and I can go on a virtual garden tour through your posts! Thank you! Hoping you and your family stay healthy through this pandemic.
I am so thrilled that you found me. We have been working in the garden all week, mainly weeding. In this new normal, it is nice to be outside and feel that we are accomplishing something worthwhile. I will be having new garden posts by the end of the month. I hope your mom will enjoy. Take care!
