Hello sweet friends and welcome to Floral Friday! Autumn is in the air in my Appalachian Foothills, even though the thermometer has not yet been notified. The changes that I always notice first are the shorter days and the angle of the light! So far, there are no pumpkins at my house, but they will soon make an appearance. I am a little old-fashioned, I still love an orange pumpkin!
Since it is the first Friday of the month, I am joining my blogging friends, Lidy, Mary, and Shirley to bring you transitional floral inspiration. It is still summer, but fall is on my mind!
I cut flowers and greenery from my garden and mixed them with grocery store flowers for a transitional floral arrangement.
At the bottom of this post you will find the links for my friends’ beautiful floral inspiration!
Hydrangeas and loropetalum from my garden added to thistle, calla lilies, proteus, and alstroemerias from Whole Foods, bring a touch of autumn into my family room!
Over the summer I have been on a mission to purge items that I haven’t used in several years. As I was cleaning a closet, I found this beautiful tole planter under a stack of pillows. Needless to say it didn’t go to the discard pile, but became the perfect container for today’s Floral Friday. I think I bought it probably fifteen years ago at the Atlanta Gift Mart, which I used to frequent.
I moved the arrangement in front of a more neutral background so you can see the fall colors.
Deer antlers always remind me of fall!
The tole planter landed on the French chest in my family room. I changed out my hand tinted photo of our son at age 9 to this oil painting of a ring-necked pheasant. The painting is beautifully rich in fall colors. I added a blue scarf at first and then decided to remove it.
You catch a glimpse of a favorite lamp that is so heavy, I can hardly pick it up. In its former life, it was a lovely statue.
To the right of the floral arrangement, I added a pair of brass and wood candle stands with rust-colored candles for a little more autumnal color.
As you can see, the vignette is a very simple transition into my favorite season…autumn!

Just gorgeous Pam!!…What a pleasant surprise to find that wonderful tole planter under a stack of pillows…I hear you about the weather…and hope that you are not experiencing too much rain, etc from the Tropical Storm…seems like you have had your share of them lately….The arrangement is stunning in front of that fabulous painting…I have always wanted to find a antique painting with a pheasant…the vignette is perfect to welcome in the sweet season of Fall…now let’s talk about that lamp! Exquisite!! love that you turned it into a lamp! Have a great day and weekend Pam….as I mentioned in my other comments to the Floral Friday ladies, I have a book of “must haves” for my future garden and you three are my inspiration! Happy September Pam!
Shirley, thank you so much. We experienced one small shower from the tropical storm. We really need some rain. Have a fun weekend with the “boys of summer!”
I do like that very much. It reminds me of the arrangements my florist does with proteas, leucodendrums, etc.
Does your pheasant have a name? If not Ella Mae will have to give him one.
Thank you sweet friend. The pheasant doesn’t have a name?
He looks like a Trevor. Ask Ella what she thinks of that.
I will?
I will tell her!?
Beautiful, dear friend. As you know, fall colors are not my favorite, but you make me want to decorate with them. The arrangement is exquisite, and to think that most of the flowers came from your garden! I especially love the planter and the french lamp. This certainly heralds the arrival of fall.
Thank you sweet friend. You know I totally embrace autumn colors???
Thank you again for sharing your home and it’s delights!
Thank you so much. Have a wonderful weekend!
Ah, such beauty!! The flowers you chose and the container are lovely.
Thank you dear Stacey!
Pam, Your arrangement is stunning and the vignette you have created is exceptional. I adore your container! It is gorgeous and your choice of flowers show it off beautifully. Your lamp, painting and candlesticks are so lovely on your charming chest. Looks like a magazine.
Aw, thank you dear Bonnie!
Pam, simply gorgeous! So glad you found the container. The lamp, candlesticks and floral arrangement is perfect against the pheasant painting. Breathtaking!
Thank you Dianne!
Beautifully arranged in that toile planter and you know I love the antler sheds.

Thank you Jeanie!
Pam, your arrangement is gorgeous and I am in love with your tole container ~ it definitely needs to stay out of the closet. The arrangement is also lovely where you have it placed and adds beauty to what I am sure is a fabulous room. I agree with Bonnie, “it looks like a magazine!”
Thank you sweet Sandra!
Do I spy a vertical wood washed in a soft white behind the beautiful painting? Can’t wait to see the full room. All is looking exciting!
Oh Alice, I can’t get anything past your discerning eyes?
Swoon Pam! I feel like I just opened up Tradional Home Magazine this morning… what a gorgeous vignette and arrangement in your tole planter! It’s always a happy surprise when I unearth something hidden in a closet 🙂 I love every detail from your statue repurposed as a lamp, pheasant painting, shed antlers, candleholders and handsome chest. A beautiful combination of flowers from your garden and grocery store! As always it’s a joy to join for Floral Fridays. Happy Weekend! xo

Thank you Roxanne. Rick Bragg is the first thing I read in Southern Living, I love His word Saugust! Happy weekend!
Holy wow Pam, I can’t believe you had that gorgeous vase stashed randomly in a closet! It looks so perfect on the sideboard in front of the pheasant {?} painting! Pam, your taste in floral is only surpassed by your taste in decor – exquisite! What a varied and unique combination of floral (I love thistle, as wild and weedy as it looks). The entire vignette is magazine worthy (psst post that one to SL instagram for yet another feature which, btw, I forgot to mention kudos for in the Oct issue!).
Thank you so much Rita. The other three ladies keep me on my toes, they are so talented!
A beautiful floral arrangement and a post filled with eye candy!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hugs,
Deb
Thank you so much Debbie!
A wonderful and elegant vignette and arrangement on the pretty Fall flower vase. The side table buffet is perfect even with the artwork in the back !
Hugs,
Fabby
Thank you so much dear Fabby!
That picture frame with the pheasant painting has inspired me. I have a gold frame that needs some tweaking & the two tone colour of your frame has given me new ideas for it! Your colours are just right for Autumn as we call it over here in Australia – where it is now Spring, and I’m writing about daffodils not pumpkins! LOL
Pam it truly is breathtaking! I love pheasants and antlers. You are always continuing to inspire me! I just shared my Vintage Cottage Style Early Fall Home Tour and I have incorporated pheasants and antlers too. I hope you will get a chance to take a look, I think you might enjoy it.
I am pinning away and will be featuring you next week at TFT. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Amber, you inspire. I ran over to check out your fall tour the day it posted, but got sidetracked and didn’t comment. I will be back over to view more closely!
Beautiful arrangement in a gorgeous vase!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
