“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11
Happy Friday sweet friends! Autumn seems to have arrived in our Appalachian Foothills. Yesterday was a picture perfect day with a high of 70 degrees and cobalt blue skies. It is the third Friday of the month which means I am joining my blogging friends to bring you another edition of Floral Friday. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and cozy up for a little country and a little copper.
If you have been a follower of Everyday Living for a little while, you know that I live in a small town. It can sometimes be a challenge to find flowers, as the nearest Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are a 60 mile drive. Thankfully, there are always wildflowers that grow around our pasture. The most prolific at this time of year is the goldenrod. When I think of fall flowers, I always think goldenrods!
You will find the links for Lidy, Mary, and Shirley at the bottom of this post. You don’t want to miss their stunning creations!
On a perfectly gorgeous day I had to set up outside. This little spot, next to a wooded area, has become our favorite!
Our common theme for this Floral Friday is copper! I have had this copper pot for many years and I have no idea where it came from, but I love its rustic charm.
After searching several grocery stores, I came home with only a bunch of alstroemeria. So what is a girl to do? She goes on the hunt for wildflowers. Goldenrods are everywhere, so that was pretty easy. Then I took a walk in the faded garden and clipped ornamental grass fronds and lantana. With the wispy goldenrods, the arrangement is very free form and rustic…perfect for the copper pot!
In keeping it real, I recycled from Tablescape Tuesday’s centerpiece! However, I did change out the dough tray to a copper-colored bowl!
You might have guessed by now that I enjoyed moving the arrangement to different spots within our wooded area…hay bales and split rail fence!
I pulled out some glassware that appears to have copper etching, but not really! They were inexpensive.
You can see more detail of the Italian-made cloth!

Beautiful bucolic setting for Floral Friday.Goldenrods say fall to me also. When I was a little girl it was our state flower but later was changed to the camellia. The goldenrods look right at home in the charming old copper pot. Adding the white alstroemerias was a perfect touch. I totally relate to flowers not being accessible.
Thanks for sharing your creativity with us for Floral Friday. Have a great weekend.

Thank you dear Bonnie! I remember that it was our state flower from elementary school. I thought it was our state wildflower, but when I checked I found that it is the oak leaf hydrangea. Happy weekend!

Swoon Pam!…I love your little country, little copper setting! The hay bales, fence, wagon rims, pumpkins, mums and beautiful tablecloth…a perfect setting for fall dining or picnic. I’m missing the goldenrod that normally borders the field by my Potting Shed this fall. Farmer Brown cut the everything back late this summer, further than normal, so the pretty golden plumes aren’t there. Thank you for the beautiful start to my day. It’s always a pleasure to join you for Floral Friday. ♥

Thank you dear Mary. We have three pastures that we allow to be cut for hay. Often there goes my wildflowers. This past summer, he cut all the Queen Anne’s lace before I got to it. Happy weekend!

Lovely table my friend…I am in the same boat as the nearest Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are a 45-60 minute drive for me.
I LOVE goldenrod and I agree…the copper pot combined with the goldenrod is beautiful and perfect together….and even though you said the glasses are not copper…you could have fooled me. Great job as usual.

Thank you Kari, have a wonderful weekend!

I like using goldenrod but backed away for a while because some folks said it caused allergies. I’ve learned that is not the case so back into the house it comes as it adds great dimension to arrangements. It’s great with your copper.

Everything looks so stunning. I love golden rod. It grows wild here too but when I see it I am usually driving on the highway and afraid to pull over. The copper looks so good against your use of yellow. Love it!
