“”For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:12
Happy greetings to you sweet friends! The last few days have been cold in the Appalachian Foothills of NE Alabama. I have been trying to play catch-up as I am sure most of you are. In between playing and dancing (yes I said dancing) with Ella Mae, I am trying to finish up my Christmas decorating. Today, I am back in the dining room to show you how I have changed up the bay window for the season. I didn’t purchase anything new, I am just using the things I already have in a different way. Seriously, I have way too many Christmas collections but they all hold precious memories and I can’t part with them. I cannot see purchasing anything new when I don’t need it and storage is beginning to be a problem.
You might recall for the past years, the bay window was filled with five slim and flocked trees. It had a magical appearance and many of you commented from year to year about them. But it was time for a change!
Only one slim tree now stands in the bay window along with a pair of life-sized nutcrackers and a collection of Steinbach nutcrackers.
The wooden nutcrackers have graced the kitchen porch for years until I moved them to the front porch last year. It is hard to believe I found the nutcrackers at Walmart at least fifteen years ago and have never seen them again. Because they are getting quite old and are needing some repairs, I decided it was time to give them a break from the weather and bring them indoors.
Glittered fruit decorates the dining room tree.
Precious friends have gifted me the German handcrafted Steinbach nutcrackers that I have placed under the tree.
The lemon has an almost realness!
A Christopher Radko musical nutcracker…
…with beautiful detail like the faux fur trim, also from a dear friend!
My dining room is somewhat hard to photograph because it is narrow. I wanted to show you the simple pinch-pleated linen window treatments on my front double window because many of you asked. I am really enjoying their simplicity. The bay window is wearing only a pleated topper as you have probably noticed.
Since this is real life, the table is still set from last weekend. If you pay close attention there is a little faux pas. There are eight chairs and only six place settings! I didn’t think about the fact I had moved the two chairs back around the table until I edited photos.
Thank you for all of your visits and encouraging comments. I can’t wait to share our family room with you that has had a makeover that wasn’t even planned. Wishing all of you a joy-filled day!

That tree looks delicious! Any time I want a cracked nut I’ll come to you, wait! I just might be a cracked nut! ;p
Really nice room, Pam. I see how the bowl of fruit ties in.

Dear friend, I smile as I write because when I saw my dear friends Nutcrackers in the dining room I had the same feeling of what you tell us that you put them for being a little old … hahaha ….. I love the idea, you have to protect age (I already do it with myself).
You have achieved a very beautiful and elegant environment and I know that you are going to have a beautiful Christmas.

Dolores, los cascanueces son como yo, envejeciendo con algunas grietas. Para preservarlos, necesitaban un nuevo hogar en su interior. Gracias mi amigo❤️

Pam, I like the fresh, more casual look in your dining room! One thing I caught, but only in one photo – bamboo shades beneath the linen topper in the bay window? Was that before or after? I also love the new arrangement for Christmas. With having so many wonderful collections, it’s nice that you’re finding new ways to arrange and display. It is beyond me to even think of making complete Christmas decor changes from year to year as many do. It’s the memories of old, beloved Christmas that are most meaningful. I bet EM loves being in that dining room with all those nutcrackers!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Good morning and thank you Rita. Yes, the bamboo shades have been on the bay window forever. During the winter months, the morning sun can be blinding. I need them for wood floor, rug, and fabric protection. As much as I love a sunny room, it can wreak havoc on everything over a short time. Wishing you a wonderful day!❤️

Pam, your tree and room are beautiful. I so love the paint color and your new window treatments. I think you will be quite happy with your decisions, even more as time moves along. Your tree and nutcrackers are wonderful, what a treat for everyone who has the opportunity to sit at your beautiful table. They will not only enjoy your table, but the entire room. Looking forward to seeing your family room. Wishing you a wonderful week, I know you are having fun with Ella Mae.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Sandra. I am enjoying the dining room, it is just really a big change for a girl that loves color. But, that is easily added on the table. Have a beauty-filled day❤️

Pam, this is absolutely beautiful! As you may remember, I am still “holding on” to a live tree. Seeing your beautiful tree, I am convinced that it is not possible for a live tree to be as beautiful as yours. As you also may remember, I do not begin Christmas decorating before Dec. I. That is because I am still putting Thanksgiving dishes and decorations away, and then I like to celebrate my birthday before “getting into” Christmas decorating mode. I hope to begin decorating for Christmas this weekend. And I love the new window treatments!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Patti. Nothing smells as wonderful as a live tree, but my asthma won’t allow it. I would love to visit you during Christmas to see your gorgeous decor. We must make that happen❤️
Cheryl says
Oh, how beautiful! I didn’t see the way your window was decorated before but I can’t imagine anything prettier than the way you have it now! Just lovely and so welcoming and cozy! I didn’t notice the six settings and eight chairs until you mentioned it. 🙂 It looks perfect to me! Enjoy your special times dancing with that sweet, little girl, and many blessings on all of you this Christmas season!

Thank you sweet friend, wishing you a joy-filled day❤️

We have the same dining room rug. We also have the same rug in our living room. We’ve had it for over 20 years and it has been used in 4 different homes. ( yes, we moved often during my husband’s career.) But thankfully, we are retired and no more moves until our final home with the Lord!
I love all your tablescapes and especially your Christmas decor.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nancy, I have loved this rug. I have it in a runner for a hallway. Thank you and wishing you a beautiful day!
Libby @ Beauty Without Within says
I love the nutcrackers standing as centuries around your gorgeous tree. It takes the eye to the tree and beyond to your colorful outdoors. One of my granddaughters has gotten a new nutcracker every one of her 18 years and has quite the collection. Yours is so pretty around the tree. And, I love the drapes. They do make such a simple but elegant statement.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Libby. Your granddaughter has collected 18 nutcrackers, now that is a collection for sure!

Oh Pam, I am dazzled! It is GORGEOUS! I love your pretty tree — perfect in the window. And with the nutcrackers standing guard it just makes for a wonderful scene. I really love the fruit and your lighting is so good here, the tree just sparkles. Oh, I do want to be at your table and see this!
Maureen says
So beautiful. I love nutcrackers. I collect them. We have one main room that has a shelf that looks down into the great room and my husband puts 30-35 of the nutcrackers up there and we have about 10 through the rest of the room on mantle and other counters. It just so gets you in the spirit of the season.
Your tree and the surroundings and the plaid just brings in the season in your home.
Bonnie Morgan says
Delightful, Pam. I know Ella Mae loves all the nutcrackers under the tree! They all have such personality.
I love all your light and would love to have more light in my house. I think you made great choices.
Your tree with all the sugared fruit is enchanting. Cherished collections are special and traditions are also. If we embraced every new style and everyone’s look was the same how boring that would be.
Wishing you a great week.

I so enjoy your posts, the outside as well as the inside! The “new” dining room is fabulous, looking forward to seeing more of your lovely home. You have a real gift for making a room look elegant, while at the same time, inviting and cozy! Wishing you a most blessed Christmas!!!
Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors says
Pam, your Christmas tree and collections are gorgeous in your dining room. It looks like something out of a magazine! I love the fruit ornaments. Could you please share where you found them? Your window treatments look beautiful. When we moved in, I had just simple scallop pinch pleat lace cafe curtains made for my dining room, and I don’t regret it. I’m still loving your blue walls. I was going to paint my dining room either a lighter green or butter color, but you have inspired me to add that pretty blue color on the list too. I can’t wait to see your living room! Happy Thursday, sweet friend!!!

Love you new dining room curtains and color of the walls. Your Christmas décor is beautiful.

This is absolutely charming Pam! As much as I love your slim trees in the bay window, I am loving the pencil tree and nutcrackers! They are perfect with the red plaid cloth! I would have never noticed your extra chairs, shhh, don’t tell on yourself 🙂 You will really enjoy your beautiful nutcrackers inside this year, and I am crazy about the fruit decorations on your tree! My house is still full of pumpkins, hoping to get a lot of decorating done this weekend! Thank you for inspiring me to get going, and I love to change things up!

Oh, this is simply lovely. You have reminded me I have tons of sugared fruit lurking somewhere in a tote, and I think I will have to use some this year! Very pretty—and love the nutcrackers—-we have a few around here, too. Love your plaid—and just everything …so pretty and FESTIVE!

I love your new dining room “look” my dear friend, and I am sure your nutcrackers are quite happy inside and looking over the other smaller nutcrackers. BTW, I bought my giant nutcrackers at Sam’s Club about 4 or 5 years ago and I have not seen them since either. I am really loving the slimmer trees these days and yours fits your beautiful window allowing just the right amount of sunlight into the room. I do understand the issue of too much sun, living in Florida that is almost a no brainer. I am guilty of leaving a tablescape up for a week or so as I am still enjoying it…call me silly but I like looking at them for a few days before dismantling. Blessings and prayers always.

Your tree is spectacular! Surrounding it with your nutcracker collection is just beautiful. Years ago I announced I was going to collect Santa’s. Whenever someone couldn’t think of a gift for me, I got a Santa! My collection is huge now, even my tree is only hung with only Santa ornaments. I labeled every Santa with the sweet giver’s name and date, so unpacking is a fond walk down memory lane.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Roxanne. I would love to see your collection of Santas! Wishing you a beautiful Sunday filled with blessings❤️

Gorgeous, gorgeous Pam!!…I love Nutcrackers…I used to have a Nutcracker tree in my hubby’s office…no tree there this year….I put my larger nutcracker on the porch this year…and had to move him inside for a day due to the enormous amount of rain and moisture….Your dining room is exquisite!!

Everything looks so great! I remember seeing those nutcrackers years past on your porch and saving them on Walmart’s website. They still don’t have them in stock. Sad, they are so pretty! I love your tree and the lemon ornament does look so real. Looks great!

Thank you so much Christine. I think it was a fluke that Walmart had these locally. They are solid wood! Wishing you a merry Christmas season!
