“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).”
Matthew 1:23
Warm greetings sweet friends! Can you believe that in less than a week Christmas will arrive? A couple of years ago I received a gift that totally took me by surprise. The lovely Pat from Life at Lydia’s House gifted me with her own designed Christmas dinnerware “Bethlehem Christmas”…and you talk about a lovely gift! There are 8 different designs that share the birth of Jesus according to the scriptures. I am so excited to use it for our family’s Christmas once again and to share our table with you!
Once again I’ve asked Butch to share the lyrics of a song he wrote a few years ago. We have such a love for music so it seems fitting to use the words of a song to caption this Bethlehem Christmas. As you gather around our table it is our prayer that each scene will reveal the reality of the Christ child!
“It started like any other night as shepherds kept their sheep
The darkness changed to a guiding light, come see the Prince of Peace.
Call His name Emmanuel, the Savior is born for you,
The angels sang, the announcement came, God’s promise has come true.
In a manger in Bethlehem; there lies a stranger in a foreign land.
Heaven’s joy in a manger makes my heart sing
Holy love in a manger, Christ the King.
It started like any other night, too dark for me to see
But then I found His glorious light, this Child was born in me.
I call His name Jesus, the Son of the Highest is come
Now we all can have His gift of life and worship God the Son.
In a manger in Bethlehem; there lies a stranger in a foreign land
Heaven’s joy in a manger makes my heart sing
Holy love in a manger, Christ the King.
A gift of love all wrapped in grace, His Spirit is His seal
With ribbons of joy and hope, For whosoever will!
In a manger in Bethlehem; there lies a stranger in a foreign land.
Heaven’s joy in a manger makes my heart sing.
Holy love in a manger, Christ the King!”
Thank you for sharing in our Everyday Living. Come back tomorrow for a little more Christmas from our house to yours! Wishing you a joy-filled day!

The lyrics to the song are as beautiful as your table setting. I simply adore the nativity in the middle. I never thought of that and the white china on silver is so elegantly simple. Stunning.

Merry Christmas. Pam! Your nativity tablescape from last year is my all time favorite post! It was magnificent with the beauty of the ornaments that pulled out the subtle colors of the the birth of Jesus on the plates. To my delight and blessing, those dishes are featured again telling the true story of Christ’s birth in word and design. It’s a lovely presentation and complements your new wall color. Thank you for sharing another post with the extraordinary china. I’m already looking forward to seeing how you will use them next year! May God bless you and your family.

Thank you so much Anita for your very sweet and encouraging comments. Merry Christmas to you and yours and blessings for the new year❤️

Pam, thank you for sharing the story leading up to Jesus’ birth with us! These plates are lovely!! Yesterday I had the pleasure of a tea luncheon at Laura’s home in Keller (of Decor to Adore) and she read the story about Advent wreaths and the meaning behind lighting each candle. The day before I was at my usual Bible study group and Peggy our leader read us a pamphlet on the birth of Jesus that another study member had brought just that morning; it tied into what Peggy had originally planned to read to us, too.
There are no coincidences and I do believe God keeps working on us all, whether someone is a believer or not, to make us better people ~ more like Him. Thank you for all that you do! Blessings to you and your hubby this Christmas season, my friend. <3
Christmas hugs,
Barb 🙂

p.s. Butch and Pam, when I was reading last night, my eyes were blurring at 11:00 so I went to bed and left your page up right where I left it… I came back this morning and wrote the above, not rereading. A big mistake! I just reread and I do love your song, your love poem to the King! And I do remember reading your post last year, Pam, but will seek it out and read it again. <3 Thank you… I needed this today. <3
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet Barb. I will share this with Butch. God always sends what I need!
