Simple + Southern Sunday: Best Of 2018 (let’s try this again!)

We hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was most memorable just spending time with our precious family. For the last Sunday of 2018, we have chosen a few of our favorite photos from over 550 that we have shared this year in our Simple + Southern Sunday series. Each Sunday we share photos of what caught our eye during the week. That might be a little country church, scenery around our pretty city, food that we have enjoyed, the seasons in our garden, amazing sunsets, and most importantly, our sweet granddaughter.

  It seems like Autumn passed in a flash and now we are already facing a new year!

    One of life’s true pleasures… good food! 

    The cold wet days of late December often find us longing  for these days but we are trying hard to not wish our life away!

    Most cotton has now been harvested but we did observe a few fields last week yet to be picked!

  We were blessed to catch the Aspens at their peak this fall!

  The closing of the day and the closing of another year!

   We  pray that all of you experience the blessings of a new year. May God make His face to shine on you….!

  5. Pam, I commented earlier this morning. I received your post yesterday in my email – and when I clicked to open it it said – “his is in error, page not found.” So I went directly to your blog this morning and found it. I received a new email today at 2:15 p.m. I had an issue with Word Press a few weeks ago – very frustrating.

    Today 31st is New Year’s Eve in Japan.
    New Year’s Eve is called “Oomisoka” in Japanese.
    We eat soba noodles called “toshikoshi soba” (year-crossing soba) to wish for a long lasting life. On New Year’s Eve, soba noodle shops are crowded with many people from morning till night.
    Also, a major house cleaning is done by the whole family. This major house cleaning is thought as a ritual to give a pleasant welcome to God on New Year’s Day.
    At night time, many people get together at countdown events.Others stay at home and watch television programs. The most well known one is the “Kouhaku Utagassen”, an annual singing contest.
    At Buddhist temples, huge bells are hit 108 times during midnight to get rid of all evil desires.

  19. … And the end of 2018 arrived. Now we have a whole year to celebrate and wish for the things we most desire. I wish you the best of the best.
    You end the year with very beautiful images: beautiful churches in their simplicity that I love, Nature is always a reason to thank God for that beauty and Mae is always a gift to see how beautiful she is.
