“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.”
Proverbs 30:5
Hello lovely friends, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It is the third Monday of the month which always means Monday Morning Blooms with my flower loving friends. We are missing Lidy today, but she will be back the first Monday of June. With the pleasant weather, please join me in the garden for blue & white…my garden’s delight!
Our common theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms is blue and white transferware with a hint of red. With the backdrop of the green garden, blue and white has a clean and crisp look that is always timeless!
You will find Shirley’s and Mary’s beautiful floral links at the bottom of this post.
The week after Mother’s Day proved to be rather difficult in locating flowers locally. My oak leaf hydrangea is in full bloom, so it was a natural choice for the arrangement. I added yellow and red alstroemeria with yellow pom poms for a loose arrangement, rather than compactly arranged.
For more floral therapy, petite arrangements were placed in blue and white transferware cups at each place setting!
The red alstroemeria opened, but the yellow didn’t cooperate. No need to stress, it had a mind of its own and I couldn’t control it. Of course, it did open beautifully the next day.
A white cutwork tablecloth covers a dark blue and white under cloth. Johnson Brothers “willow” dinner plates, cups, and saucers are mixed with salad plates that have a bright yellow band. I love pairing blue and white with so many colors, but yellow is my favorite combination! The willow dinnerware is at least forty years old and has some crazing from using it everyday for years. It is only used on occasion now. Kate Spade classic navy napkins trimmed in white cording add to the chic hammered stainless steel flatware.
The large blue and white pitcher holding the center arrangement has no legible markings. I am guessing it is certainly not an antique, but perhaps vintage. When I saw it at our local antique mall last year, I loved it at first sight!
“Blue and white lends a crisp, fresh note to any landscape and sets off associations with spring and summer and a return to sunny days spent in the open air.”
-Carolyne Roehm|
A pair of cobalt bud vases hold oak leaf hydrangea and “Arizona Sun” blanket flower. This is my first year to plant these and they are such a pretty flower to add to an arrangement. They also make an appearance in the petite arrangements in the cups.
I am often asked about this stemware. It is a favorite, but is no longer available from Horchow!
I placed Carolyne Roehm’s book “A Passion For Blue & White” as a base for the centerpiece. If you love blue and white, you would enjoy having this beautiful book to add to your library.

Pam, it is always a “delight” to visit you in your ever so delightful, charming and gorgeous gardens. The blue and white is stunning against the backdrop of your gardens. Love how you quoted Carolyn Roehm and how perfect the book is on the table. The flowers are the perfect combination of the bounty from your garden and the local store…every detail as beautiful as the next. The napkins are the perfect compliment to your beautiful blue and white table. Have a most wonderful day Pam…as always love being with my Bloom friends!!!

Your beautiful table against the backdrop of your garden is stunning! Everything blue and white makes my heart go pitter patter, and Carolyne Roehm is my go to for inspiration. Your tiny arrangements in the teacups are so sweet. I recently went ”junque-tiquing” with a friend who was on the hunt for teacups to hold tiny African violets. Wishing you a wonderful start to the week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Roxanne. Junque-tiquing is a fun hobby! ?
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Pam, your table is spectacular! I am a blue and white girl. Always have loved, loved the combination. Your centerpiece is lovely in the beautiful pitcher and the dainty individual arrangements are perfection. Also, every time you show this stemware, my heart pounds a little harder. It is so pretty. I have Carolyne Roehm’s, “A Passion for Blue and White.” You are correct it is certainly a book for all blue and white lovers. All of her books are wonderful. My favorite though is “A Passion For Flowers.”
Once again, perfection in your fabulous garden. Happy week to you, dear friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Sandra. I also love Carolyne’s “A Passion For Flowers.” Did you know that she has been very ill, she was unconscious for a few weeks? She is recovering, but it was quite a horrible time for her.
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Pam, I did not know Carolyne had been ill. Prayers for her full recovery.

Swoon Pam! I always love having a virtual seat at a table in your garden! You oakleaf hydrangea blooms from your garden are beautiful paired with pop of red and yellow. I haven’t had any luck growing oakleaf hydrangeas. We planted three a few years ago and they died shortly after. My MIL had the most gorgeous oakleaf blooms in her garden. I just don’t have the oakleaf green thumb.I love your petite arrangements in your cups. Your “Arizona Sun” blanket flowers add such a pretty pop of color. “A Passion For Blue & White” is the only book of Carolyne Roehm’s I don’t have…why is that? 😉 Love her landscape open air quote, so perfect for your garden table and blue and white. Thank you for the garden beauty this morning. I so look forward to Mondays with my flower loving friends. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dearest Mary. You must get “ A Passion For Blue & White”, it is one of my favorites!

Your table is beautiful Pam, but I swear you could set a table with old rusty tin cans and it would still shine in your gorgeous garden setting! Your transferware is beautiful and the Horchow stemware really compliments it well, and the flower filled teacups are my favorite element on your pretty table! Beautiful Monday Morning Blooms!

Lidy, you are so missed sweet friend. Thank you for your lovely comments, and it would be wonderful for you to share a leisurely meal in the garden with me. Have a beautiful week!

Lovely Pam. My Johnson Brother’s Willow dishes are an old as yours. It is a great classic and you have styled it well. I love the pops of yellow. I also love Carolyn Roehm’s books. I hope she has recovered. She was to be the key note speaker at the Nashville Antique and Garden Show in January and had to cancel due to illness.
Your centerpiece is very attractive and it is good to use your garden flowers. The oak leaf looks so elegant in your blue and white pitcher.
The Kate Spade napkins are so pretty and look beautiful on your crisp cut work tablecloth.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Bonnie. Carolyne was very ill from what I read on her instagram. Have a wonderful week!

A coveted invitation to be seated at your Monday table. Being a Canton addict started by the
much-missed Madame Mottahedah, I relished viewing all the table-scapes this morning and
the ingenuity with color and form of the ladies who set them. Delighted in all your enthusiasm.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary! Oh, a Canton addict ? Wishing you a lovely Monday!

I just did landscaping and opted out of the oak leaf hydrangeas in favor of the regular mop-head variety. Now that I see how pretty your oak leafs are, I’m starting to second guess my decision. They are stunning, as is everything on your table. I’m smitten with the blue and white and I’ll be pinning your page to my “blue and white” pinterest board! Thanks!

Oh Pam…be still my heart, I am in love with your blue and white and of course I love your Johnson Bros Blue willow dinnerware. And mine, like yours is old! I used mine as every day dishes for years, along with cobalt blue Les Creuset cookware. I have since used the Fiesta dishes and “retired” my blue willow. But I love blue and white and your beautiful garden setting and your gorgeous tablescape are to die for. I especially love the Kate Spade navy dinner napkins trimmed in white cording. The pop of yellow is stunning.
When we lived in New Mexico, the Indian Paint Brush and Blanket flowers grew wild all over our pastures and I adored them then and I adore the Arizona Sun blanket flowers on your table.
I have to agree with Carolyne’s comment: “Flowers and food look fabulous on tables decorated with blue and white”
Carolyne Roehm
Praying for her recovery….and blessings to you dear friend.

Pam, that’s such a pretty combination! I’m like you, I love yellow with blue (& white). Your blanket flowers are a nice addition to your garden. I loved seeing those when we traveled through Navajo territory and out west, in general. Your garden is so amazing, and because your season is more advanced by region, I love seeing the preview of what’s to come in our region. Beautiful.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rita. I just came in from the garden and I have the first blooms from my day lilies and the fragrance from the daisy gardenias is amazing first thing in the morning. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
