“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.”
Psalms 8:1
Hello dear friends! I hope everyone had a most enjoyable weekend. Please grab a cup of coffee or tea and join me in the garden for a colorful mix of flowers in a most unusual container!
It is the first Monday of June which means it is time for another edition of Monday Morning Blooms with my lovely blogging friends!
You will find the links for their beautiful floral arrangements at the bottom of this post!
Our common theme is the use of a container with a label. This started me on a little search all around town. Finally, at a small antique shop and high up on a shelf sat the perfect one…
…a Clabber Girl Baking Powder Can that is large, the label says 10 pounds… that is a lot of baking powder! I have one in my pantry that is 8.1 oz, now that is a big difference!
The inside of the can was quite rusty, but the outside was in excellent condition. I placed a vase inside the can to hold a colorful mix of blue hydrangeas, yellow daisies, pink roses, red alstroemeria, and Queen Anne’s Lace…a favorite wildflower that is in abundance now!
The back of the can gives directions for using the baking powder in order to make biscuits, breads, cakes, and cookies. My mind began to flood with memories of my Mom’s light as air fluffy biscuits. She made them every morning and they are still the best I have ever eaten. I watched her make them so many times, but mine have never been as good.
Beautiful flowers inspired my table setting that began with a most colorful table cloth. My everyday stainless flatware with the symbol of hospitality… the pineapple and bright yellow napkins cinched with hand painted terra-cotta napkin rings!
Portmeirion “Botanic Garden” dinner plates and Bordallo Pinheiro salad plates rest on straw placemats that provide texture.
Queen Anne’s Lace is everywhere growing wild along roadsides and in pastures. I was so glad that it was growing in a pasture nearby. It became the finishing touch to my colorful mix of flowers!
Favorite stemware was chosen for its pretty colors. I ran across these at Tuesday Morning many years ago.
A quiet evening of gentle breezes, birdsong, and an occasional scent of fading gardenias…pure bliss!

This was a delight to view. Every little detail. My first time here and now I will go backwards to see more treats. Your yard is so lovely. Or shall I say, your garden. Your hydrangeas are ahead of ours here on Long Island. I think the use of the cans was so smart. I always keep some colorful tomato cans for the same use but finding old ones…opens a whole new idea. April Cornell, Portmerrion, lovely all!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Ruthie. I also have tomato cans to use for flowers!
Mary says
Pam, This is so beautiful…it’s always a treat to pull up chair at a table in your garden! I love the photo of the beam of sunlight you captured in the background. Your tablecloth (April Cornell?) is the perfect foundation for a garden table and your beautiful arrangement. I love the Clabber Girl Baking Powder can you found…that IS a lot of baking powder! Love the back of the label! Aren’t we lucky to have Queen Anne’s Lace free for the clipping? So light and airy and the perfect addition to the hydrangeas, roses and alstroemeria. I love starting my Monday morning with my floral friends. ♥

The Clabber Girl can was a great find! I have a very small can of it in my pantry, maybe a petite arrangement when it is empty?!? Your garden looks so tranquil. I am enjoying going out with my coffee to water plants early in the morning. It’s so peaceful and cool then, and I love watching the world wake up. Two weeks of scorching temps and no rain here in SC.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
No rain here for a little over two weeks and it has been hot. Thank you Roxanne, have a wonderful day!
Alice Genzlinger says
What lovely pictures to start my day. Your imagination has no match. When you and Butch began to design your garden, did you imagine how beautiful it would be today and what joy would come from all the hard work? Setting a beautiful table for every season is a speciality of yours and we are blessed to be able to share in the beauty.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, I was thinking this morning that this is our 5th gardening season and I would have never imagined how it looks today. It has been a back breaking but wonderful journey. As the deer population seems to have grown out of control, I do fret over them feasting and inviting all of their friends over for a salad bar. Have a lovely week!
marmeladegypsy says

Heritage Hall says
An ideal way to commence the week… your entire table setting is inspired, Pam dear… alas, our neighborhood has no Queen Anne’s Lace to speak of – lawns trimmed with embroidery scissors and tended by weed-control freaks..lol…Must drive along the roadside to capture some to fill my
desire for these delicate punctuations to a Spring bouquet. You, Lidy, Mary and Shirley certainly know how to create picture perfect settings….bless you for sharing.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary. I can just see the lawns being trimmed with embroidery scissors (lol). The hay mowers get a lot of the pretty Queen Anne’s Lace. Bless you for being a faithful reader!
