“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.””
Psalms 91:1-2
Hello dear friends. I hope your weekend was a good one. We have been getting lots of rain since last Thursday. It did not look very promising to share a tablescape outdoors, but then I had a short window of opportunity. Join me for a 10 minute tablescape.
The weather forecast had said rain through Monday and even heavy periods of rain were to be expected. Late Thursday afternoon, the rain stopped and I decided to hurriedly gather a tablecloth and dishes and run out to the garden. Hopefully there would be enough time to put it together and photograph before the next shower hit.
I had to keep it very simple because I knew there were would be little time. As soon as I placed the cloth on the table, it started misting rain. I decided to give it a try in hopes that it would stop. I managed to finish the table quickly and begin to photograph. It was very dark with threatening clouds, but the misting rain stopped briefly.
I had hastily grabbed four Williams Sonoma salad plates to top my everyday dinner plates.
There was no time to put together a flower arrangement, so one magnolia bloom graced the table. The little bee was a constant companion as I took pictures.
A soft pastel floral tablecloth that was a TJ Maxx find from last year was on top of my stack, so I grabbed it.
Ruby throated hummingbird…they are often in the garden flitting from bloom to bloom!
Everyday flatware and stemware were quickly accessible, since time was of the essence! I did manage to add napkins with a pretty lace border.
I also managed to gather a pair of candlesticks to add to this simple setting!
The sweet smell of magnolia was wafting through the garden! I had been photographing for about eight minutes when the rain started again. This time it wasn’t just a mist! I gathered everything as quickly as possible and ran to the house. Needless to say, I was a little damp!
Just to be honest, I had decided I would not post this tablescape. The skies were dark which made all the photos darker than I wanted. I didn’t feel that the tablescape was up to my standards, but then I decided it is ok…just go with it! Life is not perfect. It was a memory.
Thank you for your visits and the gracious comments you leave behind! Wishing you a joy-filled day!

Sweet Pam….even though the weather conditions and lighting are not perfect, As you know, I always like keeping it real and you certainly did that with this beautiful tablescape and guess what? It is lovely.
Our readers deserve nothing less….because our house decor is not always in magazine photo condition and there may be dirty dishes in the sink….OR it may rain with heavy dark clouds in the middle of a tablescape shoot. LOL
I love you for sharing “our shared” faith and providing beautiful and inventive tablescapes and gorgeous gardens.
Hugs and Blessings Always

Thank you sweet Kari. You are a lovely encourager, and things are far from perfect in our real everyday lives! Happy Tuesday!
Mary says
Pam, I love your 10 minute tablescape and that you captured the bee buzzing around to keep you company! The single magnolia bloom is bee-utiful in your hobnail vase! It’s been very wet and stormy since Friday and our lake level is HIGH! Photographing lately has been a challenge…keeping my fingers crossed I can get some in today before the rain returns. Glad you posted your table. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Mary, it was definitely challenging. We have sunshine this morning and it certainly looks good. Maybe you can photograph today, I hope I can as well.
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Pam, your table is lovely. I especially love your ‘hobnail’ vase. It looks like it may be a piece of Fenton. In your gorgeous garden anything you did to your table would work beautifully. And, time spent with family and friends around a table is all about love and memories. Your setting is perfect for both.
Have a lovely week and send a little rain our way, please.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sandra, we have sunshine this morning. Hopefully, you will receive rain. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Roxanne Bernard says
Pam, the table is just lovely! Even the flowers in your garden reinforced the pinks. Just think…you got your tablescape AND daily workout all at the same time! That is the definition of multitasking. My beautiful Southern Lady flower book arrived and between your beautiful arrangements and the ones in the book, I’m feeling very inspired! Thank you again.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne. I am so glad you received the book. Happy Tuesday!

Life is NOT perfect! The table looks gorgeous and I’m in awe you pulled this together in 10 minutes~! Hope you were able to strike it before the rain! Or rather before the damp mist became too much rain!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeanie. It was quite the challenge!
Bonnie Morgan says
Pam, I admire your perseverance, humility, and dedication to your blog schedule. Weather is challenging and carrying dishes back and forth is work in our humidity. Trying to photograph with threatening weather is stressful!
I think it is good that you were honest about the situation you had. It makes us all feel human and real. I love the bird plates and they look so pretty with the pink hobnail vase and you chose the perfect tablecloth. Lovely table.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, sometimes I wonder why I put myself through all of these challenges. I guess it is because I love it. The humidity is the biggest challenge, but we have cooler temps that are wonderful. Have a beautiful Wednesday!
Bobbie T says

Pam, This is a beautiful tablescape! It’s just a lovely color scheme and nature provided the bee on the magnolia bloom! This is a simple, southern, everyday living table which anyone would gladly enjoy. We appreciate your devotion to sharing wonderful ideas & pictures with us. Have a great day! Clara💕
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Clara. Have a beautiful Wednesday!

Your garden is so beautiful, your table would look good with simple white paper plates! I do love the magnolia bloom with the busy bee and all the pink…I came back Friday because it was raining buckets at the beach. Never seen such crazy weather with sunshine one minute and torrential downpours the next! My yard looks amazing though and the flowers oh so happy! I am loving the milder temps this week, and hope to set a table in outside this afternoon. As always I loved visiting you at your garden table!
Jenna
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jenna!I had wondered if you stayed at the beach. It is supposed to rain today, but the cooler air is a welcomed change. Happy Wednesday!
the Painted Apron says
Yes loving this cool spell!

Dear friend Pam, I smiled when I saw your publication … While reading, I imagined the scene like in the old 20th century movies, all running fast … hahahaha
Spring has these cases, you do not know how the weather is going to behave and it was a day that was not very good.
The table was very good, with a delicate and romantic tone, and that bee that was left for the posterity in the photo also did his job that is none other than to give a touch of tenderness to the scene.
All beautiful, dear friend … all good.
A hug
Dolores
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Queridos Dolores, mis movimientos eran definitivamente rápidos como las películas antiguas. A las abejas les encanta la magnolia, su fragancia mantiene a las abejas zumbando. Te deseo un maravilloso día mi amigo. Abrazos
Heritage Hall says
The final photo that you thought dimmed, is subtle and almost ethereal. What can you not do
under pressure, dear one? Such beauty. Our magnolias are opening into dinner plate dimension. I had never brought them indoors before, so I am luxuriating in their fragrance. The
table is, as always, simplified elegance and perfectly coordinated. Too bad, not enough time for
the pink lemonade…. Bless you, Pam, for the Psalm….
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary, I love the sweet smell of magnolia on my dining room table. We enjoy that fragrance as long as the dinner plate blooms are blooming! Happy Wednesday!
Ramona Mock says
Dear Pam, I am glad you decided to share this tablescape! I love the pink and grey tablecloth. Where did you get the little pink vase? Your table is so welcoming!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Ramona, I have no idea where the Fenton vase came from. Usually, I remember where things come from, perhaps someone gave it to me. I have had it for years. Thank you!
Alice Genzlinger says
There is an old song that Dean Martin sang called “Memories Are Made of This”. And this will be a cute memory, possibly a little damp around the edges.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I know that song. It was a memory, Alice!

Oh dear Pam. It may not be perfect to you but it is too me! I always love what you do. Girl, I am so far from anything in my life being perfect much less decor! LOL! I totally agree with what Kari said as she said it all so well. When I grow up Pam I hope that my tablescapes become just half as pretty as yours always is. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cindy, you are so sweet. Sometimes we just have to go with it 😊

Thank you dear Shirley. I know the reunion was just wonderful!
Nancy says
I am so glad you posted it! Because it is absolutely lovely… the simple centerpiece is what makes it! And you show us all that even when life doesn’t go our way… simplicity makes it picture perfect!
It’s been raining here too… farmers have not gotten in their fields.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Aw, thank you Nancy. Have a most wonderful Wednesday!

Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Maristella! Hugs and blessings!
Sandra @ Dinner at Eight says
Pam, I think gardens and outdoors in general photograph better when it’s overcast (or in your case raining!). Colors are more true and everything isn’t bleached by sunshine or hidden by shadows. So in my opinion — well done!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra, a storm was brewing and I had to hurry!
Bonnie Brown says
When my Mother had to prepare a meal in a hurry for unexpected company, she referred to it as a “hopped up” meal. Trying to beat the rain, you surely did a gorgeous “hopped up” table! Love those salad plates. I always look forward to your posts. Also like that you keep it real!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, I like the idea of a “hopped up” table. Thank you for your visits and comments.
lulu says
Quick and easy is my favorite kind of table! Your patriotic table showing off hydrangeas in a watering can makes me smile as I’m very drawn to such containers.

Thank you Linda!
