“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
Philippians 2:3
Hello sweet friends! I hope you enjoyed a nice weekend. It was hot and sticky here, but I guess it is supposed to be…it is summer!
A simple, summery tablescape in the garden is my favorite!
The April Cornell table cloth provides plenty of color…
…as well as a bouquet of gorgeous hydrangeas!
A refreshing glass of water with a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint is perfect on a hot summer’s evening, especially in my vintage wedding stemware by Noritake!
The wedding china (discontinued) is also by Noritake. The pattern is called “Reverie”. Did you know the word “reverie” means the state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts, a daydream, fanciful musings? I thought lost in reverie was the perfect title for this table!
Green placemats and yellow napkins bring out the colors of the china and tablecloth.
After all these years, I still love the delicate and pastel china pattern of wildflowers, a butterfly and lady bug encircling the rim. I decided to use it for this tablescape because several readers had commented on this Easter tablescape when you could only see the rim of the pattern. The sweet and simple silver-plate “Royal Manor” by Rogers Bro. is my wedding flatware!
“The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.”
The Song of Solomon 2:12
The lavender, with its sweet fragrance, was cut from the garden and gently placed on each salad plate!
“It is a golden maxim to cultivate the garden for the nose, and the eyes will take care of themselves.”
-Robert Louis Stevenson
The beautiful pink hydrangeas came from my friend’s hydrangea farm. The dark blue and purple came from our garden!
Thank you for your visits and each gracious comment. Wishing you a joy-filled day!

Just beautiful Pam! Your garden tables are always my favorites! Your tablecloth, “Reverie”, and hydrangeas look so inviting and would make me want to linger at your table. It felt like late August here yesterday instead of June! Stay cool ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary, we didn’t have cool weather yesterday but we did receive a nice shower of rain! xoxo
Kari says
Oh sweet Pam….I LOVE the pink hydrangeas in your center piece and you know what I thought of when I looked at your tablescape? Long, hot, days of summer and lingering lazily at your pretty table, sipping water with lemon slices…..lost in reverie from time to time and then speaking about the hot weather or the latest news about town, only to grow silent again allowing the “summer” to speak for itself.
Have a great week, enjoy every day because we know not what tomorrow brings.
Hugs
Kari

What a beautiful splash of pastels punctuated by the roses… Aren’t the hydrangea stunning this year? You have the gift for
staging and yet manage to simplify the effect to inspire the less talented. The garden continues to leave me in a puddle of
awe……

I passed up a complete set of “Reverie” at an estate sale about 3 years ago, and it has haunted me ever since! After 2 years of kicking myself and watching the pattern on Ebay, I finally bought some salad plates to use for tea. I justified it to myself because I’ve never had a pattern stay in mind like that, despite years of dish (hoarding) collecting! It’s a lovely table, Pam, thank you for sharing!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cheryl, I am sorry you missed out on the complete set of Reverie! I am still loving mine after all these years. So glad you found some salad plates!
