“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5
Hello dear friends. Can you believe that 2019 is half over? Not only is it the first day of July, it is the first Monday of the month which means it is Monday Morning Blooms! Join me in the garden as I feature an urn filled with summer flowers!
Our common theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms is the use of a garden urn. As you can see, I have a little different take on the theme…an urn in the garden!!
My lovely friends have all created beautiful floral arrangements. You can find their links at the bottom of this post.
I do have several large garden urns, but they are all planted…you can see one behind the table planted with begonias. Several years ago I had been eyeing a pair of Italian urns at Tuesday Morning hoping they would eventually be marked down. Finally, they were on sale, but only one remained. That one lone urn immediately jumped into my basket!
The gold definitely gives the urn a more formal look…but I decided against a formal arrangement. I cut hydrangeas from my garden that are varying shades of blue and purple as the base for the arrangement. I then added small crape myrtle branches that My Renaissance Man trimmed from our trees. This didn’t take any flower arranging skills, the crape myrtle has a mind of its own and I like its free form in the more formal urn.
Not only is it hydrangea season, but it is also blueberry season! Iced sweet tea is always in season in the South!
Notice a different scene is painted on this side of the urn!
Sunflowers are blooming in the background, as well as vanilla strawberry hydrangeas… that makes me happy!
With fresh blueberries in season, you must have a fresh baked blueberry pie!
Fresh blueberries with a dollop of yogurt and a sprig of basil provide a healthy treat!
As I was photographing the table, bees and hummingbirds became very involved in the action. There was no interest in the food but only a love for the flowers. They don’t know what they are missing!
These are the last of my Macrophylla blooms, next up are the Limelights!
“There is nothing I like better at the end of a hot summer’s day than taking a
short walk around the garden. You can smell the heat coming up from the earth
to meet the cooler night air.”
~Peter Mayle

I love your ‘urn in the garden’ Pam! You have me wanted to dash out to Tuesday Morning to see what I might find. I love the vibrant colors of your French hydrangeas. I was lucky to receive a start of a shrub from my MIL’s garden several years ago. I have sunflower and vanilla strawberry hydrangea envy!! For some reason I’m craving blueberry pie this morning too. 😉 We were just talking yesterday that we couldn’t believe 2019 was half over~ where has the time gone? Thank you for the beauty this morning. I love starting my Mondays with my flower loving friends. ♥

Thank you dear Mary! Yes, where has the year gone to? Stay cool on this first day of July!

Love your Italian urn. My daughter just returned from Italy so I am into all things Italian and your Tuscan scenes are so pretty on the urn. How beautiful your arrangement is too!
Your vignette of fresh blueberries and blueberry pie is inspiring me to make a blueberry pie! I love your china with the gold rim for your pie. It looks so pretty with the gold touches on the urn.
Peter Mayle’s quote is so true. How lovely to stroll through your garden today and also enjoy a lovely table of irresistible treats.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Bonnie. A trip to Italy is always a good thing. Stay cool, it is so hot and humid!

The urn is a serious find! Don’t we love it when we see a little treasure. You have made it your own with your beautiful hydrangeas and crepe myrtle. I also have hydrangea envy. Mine are showing signs and of blooming. Blueberries are good for anxiety also…a little something that I learned recently. Just fabulous Pam. I don’t know where the time goes but it is fleeting. Happy week my friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Dianne. I only wish I could have had a pair. Wishing you a wonderful week my friend!
the Painted Apron says
What a lovely way to start my week as well as the month of July! Pam your urn is so unusual with the gold trim and the Spanish looking villa, I can see why you were drawn to it and it looks stunning with your garden arrangement! I think flowers should always be allowed to be themselves, the more natural arrangement the better! Your garden table full of summer blueberry treats is wonderful with the deep hues of your hydrangeas and adding the crape myrtle blooms is so smart…so lovely! Have a great 4th week!

Jenna, Thanks so much for your most gracious comments. It is great when I can cut flowers from my garden rather than purchasing them. Have a wonderful week on the coast! It is certainly hot and humid here.
the Painted Apron says
thank you Pam! It’s hot and humid here too, I think that’s called summer in Alabama 😅

That’s a gorgeous urn, Pam. Love the building on the side and of course you always make things look so beautiful. Your china reminds me of my Royal Doulton Royal Gold pattern. It’s lovely with the flowers/setting.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeanie. I forgot to mention that the china was purchased at the longest yard sale a few years ago!
Clara says
Pam, what a beautiful setting! I love your urn & the fact you bought it recently is uplifting as I have a similar one that is over 50 years old that I purchased at a charity event in the 80’s. They had a pair but I ended up with only one (as I was much younger & the budget was a priority) but I have never put fresh flowers in it! Now you’ve given me inspiration to do so. The crape myrtles paired with the hydrangeas are lovely. I just may copy your arrangement when our crape myrtles bloom. I am looking forward to the limelights & hope to add one to our yard soon. Your table is so inviting & I always love your ideas! Have a wonderful day! Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Clara, how wonderful that you have a very similar urn that is almost 50:years old. I placed a glass container inside the urn and steadied it with newspaper. It worked perfectly! Thank you and wishing you a most wonderful week!
Libby @ Beauty Without Within says
As so often happens, your decorating style jumps off the page at me. This urn is one I would definitely have in my house if I had found it at Tuesday Morning. This means I need to make more frequent visits there. Seriously Pam, I love everything about your table and flowers. Gorgeous!

Roxanne Bernard says
Your urn was an incredible find! I thought for sure it was a family heirloom. And the arrangement you created is perfect in it. I have a small hydrangea I’ve been nursing along for the last month (hubby forgot to water that one plant when I was out of town!). It was finally putting out some new growth when the leaves mysteriously disappeared overnight. I figured out why this morning while I was mowing grass…there sat fat Mr. Bunny Rabbit right at the pot!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne, I only wish I had its mate. I am so sorry Mr. Rabbit ate the leaves off your hydrangea, they can be cute, but also pesky!
Nancy says
That urn has me all excited for our trip to Italy coming very soon!
What an exquisite table dressed beautifully for dessert!
The hydrangeas from your garden are stunning and are superb in your arrangement! Our have not bloomed as of yet!
Happy Week to you!
