“For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy. How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep!”
Psalms 92:4-5
Happy Monday sweet friends! It is the first Monday of the month which means Monday Morning Blooms with my flower loving friends. I think you will enjoy our common theme for this edition…seashells! Bring along your hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and all the things you might need at the beach.
As you can see, we are not at the beach but those things I just mentioned will be handy as we visit my garden. I know most of you have walked along a beach and looked for seashells and maybe you even started a collection. I remember as a child, we vacationed in Panama City, FL and I couldn’t wait to walk along the white sand beach right after sunrise to search for shells. I would place my finds in a milk carton and make sure they found their way to the car when we headed home. I am not sure what happened to those shells, but it is still a sweet childhood memory!
You will find the links for Mary, Shirley, and Lidy at the bottom of this post. They always share amazing and creative arrangements that you don’t want to miss.
If you are a regular reader you know how much I love setting a table in my garden. The sand-colored linen tablecloth provided the perfect foundation for a seashell-themed tablescape with a floral centerpiece featuring five different hydrangea varieties…
…Little Lamb, Fire and Ice, Quick Fire, Limelight, and Let’s Dance Series “Moonlight”. All of these are paniculatas except Moonlight which is a French hydrangea. I must tell you I did not cut these from my garden, but I visited my precious friend and hydrangea expert at her farm. In case you missed an earlier post on her amazing hydrangea farm, you can see it here.
Wicker placemats were added for that extra beach texture as was a fish net that I used as a table runner. “Baroque” dinner and salad plates by American Atelier complements the vase holding the hydrangeas. Sea stars (starfish) were added to the floral arrangement.
You can see my paniculata “vanilla strawberry” in the background!
My inspiration for the floral arrangement and the table is this vintage shell box that I found many years ago at an antique shop in Birmingham. It has always been a favorite little piece of mine. The hydrangeas around the base of the arrangement have similar colors as the box.
Shell napkin rings that hold peach-colored napkins and tortoise shell flatware round out each place setting.
“Seashells are love letters in the sand.”
-Anonymous
The adagio maiden grasses in the background mimic sea oats that you see on our Gulf Coast beaches!
A couple of hurricane vases were filled with shells and placed on either side of the hydrangeas.
Last Thursday when I was at my friend’s farm, as we were talking she happened to mention we had an eighty percent rain chance on Friday. I decided to hurry home in order to set my table and photograph it on Thursday rather than Friday as I had planned. It had been sunny and hot all afternoon, but around five o’clock it started getting cloudy and dark. My Renaissance Man said he would help me take everything out to the garden and help set it up. I started shooting pictures and he went on his usual four mile run. About halfway through my photo shoot it began to sprinkle. He ran back to the house to help me rush everything to a dry place but the rain stopped…
…I continued taking pictures and RM headed back to finish his run. You can see a few rain drops on the table. I thought it only added to the ambiance, it often comes up a little shower at the beach and then stops. However, all of a sudden the sky opened up and it came a downpour. I stood there trying to figure out what to do, but within a few seconds the table was drenched and so was I. My sweet hubby who was also drenched ran up our long hill and to the garden to help, but by this time it was too late. Thankfully, I had enough photos. As I stood there thinking of all the things that we bloggers do to just get a post published, I could only laugh. (BTW – it didn’t rain a drop on Friday)!
Be sure to visit each one of my talented friends!

Pam, You have taken your theme and created an A+ tablescape. Your floral arrangement is stunning in the ambience of your lovely garden. I love how you repeated the darker blooms at the bottom that pick up the shades of the shells in your beautiful shell box and matching hurricane vases.
Perfect napkins and placemats as well as choice of dishes.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Bonnie, you are a sweetheart❤️

Pam, This is so stunning! I gasped when I first saw your photo of those gorgeous hydrangeas paired with the shells at your table. The maiden grass mimics the sea oats perfectly as a beachy backdrop! Your vintage box is such a beauty to add to your table. It is so dry here we are crispy. We have had tons of rain all around us and been teased by ominous clouds gathering but no measurable rainfall. Maybe I need to set a table on the patio and that way I’ll be guaranteed of a shower! So glad you got your photos in, the things we do for a table. 😉 Thank you for the beauty this morning, I’m always happy to have a seat at your table and share some Monday Morning Blooms. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary, have a beautiful day with hopefully rain!

What a dramatic ending to this beautiful table! The grass surely does look like sea oats! And the fish net for a runner is splendid! And of course the hydrangeas are perfect! Love the vintage shell box… Once again you outdid yourself!
And I guess if you want rain… just set up a beautiful tablescape outside!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear friend❤️
Roxanne Bernard says
What a beautiful table! I love how you echoed the blush pink of the shells with your napkins instead of the usual ocean blues (which I also love!). The pink is so unexpected, but it really does look like the beach. We appreciate you “taking one” for the team…but I’m loving all the afternoon thunderstorms!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne, we had a wonderful rain after dark last night. It sure helps so we don’t have to water the garden!

Pam, What a spectacular table! Your seashell trinket box is gorgeous as are the hydrangeas! How thoughtful of your RM to run back to assist when rain was eminent. I can just imagine after the downpour you both standing there drenched & you saying Honey, I got the shots! I hope your trinket box dried out okay & without harm. Thank you for sharing this lovely set of pictures with us along with a wonderful narrative that is always enjoyable. Have a great week sweet Pam! Clara ❤️

Thank you dearest Clara. My seashell box was fine, it was the only thing I grabbed. Everything else was thoroughly soaked. Happy Monday!

Pam, this is so beautiful! Every single piece and shell adds to your gorgeous table setting. Ocean, optional. I would much rather be in your garden than at the beach!! The colors, the flowers {oh! those hydrangeas!} and the textures, all of them add up to a magical setting. Happy Monday Morning Blooms, sweet friend. As always, I leave your spot on the net refreshed and inspired. xo Lidy

Well, Pam, when it rains it pours, right? But I must say, this table is outstanding! I do believe it’s one of my favorites. The color combination of the shells (that shell box!), the transitioning colors of the plant blooms, the linens and contrasting flatware…it’s all just so warm and really beautiful.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Rita.

When I saw your first picture I saw echoes of Italy or Portugal… like an antique setting.. Just love the touch of pink and
rust that blend into the box and pop out again against the table setting. Seashells would make a great seasonal collection
for setting a Summer table. I tend to “store” according to season and missed that one…No more….on the list. Cannot get
the Strawberry hydrangea until Fall, but I am committed. Consider your tablescape “blessed” in appreciation by Heaven’s
shower. Mr. Wonderful – what a hero….. Cherish the week, talented lady.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary. Yes the hubby is the best. I could not do the blog without him. Have a wonderful week❤️

So beautiful Pam, your hydrangeas mimic the colors of sea shells, what a stunning pairing! I have always been crazy about sea shells, and spent many vacations gathering them on the beach, like going on a treasure hunt! Orange Beach doesn’t have many shells but I have saved others over the years and love to use them in my beach house decorating…such a fun theme for you MMB gals this week, and your shell box is gorgeous!

Pam, your table is beautiful. The shells are a lovely idea. Tucking your gorgeous hydrangeas in a vase filled with seashells is so creative. i love how you embraced the pink peachy color in the shells and brought them all together. The shell adorned box is so pretty. I can see why it is so special and truly the inspiration. Your story about the rain is quite funny. I am sure not at the time, however all is good and your photos look amazing.

I am really not a shell person, but I have to tell you that this is GORGEOUS!!! When I think of sea shells I think of tacky souvenir shops, but you have taken these shells to a whole different level with your fabulous setting. Pairing them with the beautiful hydrangeas just makes this such a stunning table!!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Ann, what a sweet compliment from a fellow tablescaper.

Oh, my word! How kind and sweet of your dear husband to rush back and help you repeatedly! I think that is just the sweetest thing. You all are such a shining example of what a Godly marriage should look like. That is amazing that it didn’t even rain on Friday! After all that trouble for you! I have to tell you that ALL of your tablescapes are amazing, but this is one of my favorites yet. I thought the peach napkins were pink, and one of my favorite color combinations is pink and tan/brown. SO, so pretty! The hydrangeas just top everything off so beautifully. It is just such a pleasure to look at all of it and take it in. I agree that the rain drops just added to the ambiance. Thank you so much for sharing so much of your heart here with us, sweet friend. You are such a dear blessing to all!

Cheryl, I am so glad you like the tablescape. I was determined to not be defeated by the rain. When it began to pour, it was a relief from the heat. You always encourage and are a blessing sweet friend!
