“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:1-2
The summer sunrise appears further south as it is about one third of the way from its northern extreme. Autumn is headed our way!
We love churches in country settings and Katy has a way of spotting them!
Perfect timing on this pic…butterflies aren’t still for long!
Great view of Weiss Lake with some good food on the way!
We call this guy “ole rusty”. He doesn’t have room for a lot of soil so watering daily is a must in hot dry weather!
Our first year to attempt growing dahlias, their buds are so interesting!
Barns are also a favorite to photograph. We have wondered how many barns there are across America? The number would probably be staggering!
This beautiful vine is a type of Clematis. A common name is Virgin’s Bower. While it is fragrant and looks innocent, we understand it is a poisonous plant! It loves wet areas so right at home by the lake.
“Lavender Perfection” is just about perfect!
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”

Joyful Sunday, Pam and Butch! Awoke to 65 degrees this morning…delicious! Haven’t the red sunrises and sunsets been amazing this summer? I never grow tired of photos of churches and barns. Princess Ella Mae looks beautiful in that outfit. “Brown Eyed Girl” is one of my favorite oldies even if a Joyful Noise is all I am capable of making!! We are holding a big welcome back picnic for our Clemson students after church, so I’m looking forward to lots of good Southern cooking today.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, I know your picnic was a feast of good food. Wishing you a joy-filled week!

Pam, I am reading your beautiful post while sitting on the deck in St. Maarten, looking out at the peaceful ocean. I am remembering the not so peaceful ocean in 2017, the last time we were here at our property. Although we were in St. Maarten last year at this time, we stayed in another resort because ours wasn’t back open yet. There have been some improvements made here, and some changes that I do not see as improvements, but isn’t that the way life is when things change? Sitting out on the deck I am remembering the times you and I were doing this, having our coffee and talking. Your post is lovely, and once again, my favorite photo is the one of Ella Mae. Autumn is coming, your favorite time of the year. Love to all there.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear friend! I am so glad you were able to return to your property this year. I have so many fond memories of our trip in 2015, the morning hours on the balcony drinking coffee and taking in the gorgeous view of the ocean. Wishing you and Mike a joy-filled two week. Love and hugs ❤️

Good morning, Pam. Such a beautiful post. The photo of the butterfly is true perfection and your dahlia is gorgeous. I enjoyed growing dahlias, but don’t have the room for them in this garden. Although, I have had them a season or two. They come in such a marvelous variety of colors, shapes and sizes.
Miss Ella steals the show once again. She looks so lovely in her little lemon dress. And, as always your sunset photos are glorious.
Wishing you and your family a lovely, peaceful day and a wonderful week ahead. ❤

I brought a piece of my sisters clematis from NC and planted it on a brick post at our house. I never knew the name and never knew it was poisonous. I wasn’t sure if it would survive our cold temps in Co but it did and covers the post and it’s on the north side of the house. Our neighbors love it’s fragrances. When I was growing up, mother planted it on a trallis on the south west side of the porch and it was so thick we could sit on the porch during a storm and not get wet. Merories today. Thank for the post and information. Miss Ella Mae is becoming a beautiful young lady❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you for sharing your precious memories, they are always a blessing to read. Have a wonderful week Alice!

Outstanding photos Pam! What wonderful scenes. The sunrise is fabulous! Ella Mae is a beautiful little lady in her cute dress. That butterfly pic should be entered in a contest! I’ve never had much luck with clematis but I do love them. My Mom always had various colored clematis growing around her pine trees. Churches provide special photo opportunities as they are so unique architecturally. Every picture is a delight! Enjoy your day! Clara ❤️

Thank you dearest Clara. Wishing you a joy-filled week!❤️

Dear friend, it is always a pleasure to visit your Sunday publication. I have something in common with Katy, I love small town churches. Another day, when I go to Granada, I will take pictures of the church they have in the city of Belicena (Granada) because I love it and it has a lot of history to tell them.
And another of the things that I love are the old barns that have so much history in their forests … Curiously also in Granada there are similar, but they are old tobacco dryers that were previously cultivated by those lands … it has the beauty of what Old as the barns.
Let’s talk about something current: the beauty of Ella Mae, every day is more beautiful with that dress full of lemons … I love it!
And so I have a good time with your beautiful photos on this Sunday day here at my house in Majadahonda.
A big hug
Dolores

I love your photos!! I am subscribed to you but have never commented!! But your comment about old barns and their numbers made me think, they are all getting old and lovely, but how many more years will they be with us and are barns still being built in large numbers??? Such a shame when they are gone!!! Also your grand daughter is the cutest!! Such a sweet innocent face! Enjoy her!!! I know you do!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Anita, it was so good to hear from you and I am so glad that you are a subscriber. You are so right about the barns, occasionally I see a new one, but not very often. Wishing you a joy-filled week!

Oh, Pam, what a beautiful post. It had so many elements that bring joy to my heart. I love your sunrise and sunsets speaking of God’s majesty. Old barns and old churches speak to me in a special way. The butterfly/flower photo was perfection. And, then, the beautiful brown-eyed girl…so beautiful! Your scripture is paired beautifully magnifying the great God we serve. Thank you.

I always enjoy your Sunday posts!
When I first started teaching at a rural high school in Tennessee’s Appalachian mountains I would notice the “Virgin’s Bower” along fence rows in late August. I asked our biology teacher what this was called. He said that brides used to use this plant to make halos for their hair for their weddings. The next morning the bride and bridesmaids would have a red rash around their faces and on other areas of their bodies from this vine. That is how it got it’s name. Interesting. It is a very fragrant and lovely flower but causes contact dermatitis. I Googled it and there are nurseries that sell it for planting. Very interesting. See here:

Oh, those photos! Especially, the third from the bottom of the sunset over that hilly spot! SO pretty! Sunsets always make me think of Heaven. LOVE Ella Mae’s lemon dress. You know, I adore my grand boys, but I sure wish one of them was a girl! Or that they’d “add on.”
