“And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37-39
A typical summer sunrise at our house this past week. It has been hot but sunny and peaceful for quite a few days now. Normal for early September.
The first sunrise after Hurricane Dorian departed Man-O-War Cay, Abaco, Bahamas. Beautiful but things are far from normal. This photo was taken by dear friends of ours, Buddy and Kerri Mullins, who were doing mission work with New Life Bible Church when Dorian made a direct hit. We are grateful they are safe and are now stateside. Buddy and Kerri serve with Hope For The World Foundation, a wonderful organization that ministers and supports missionaries in many parts of the world. I (Butch) had the privilege of being a part of the Hope For The World Board for a time.
A rainbow after the storm is a reminder of God’s Sovereignty and promises. The church from this angle appears to have fared better than some structures but the next pic tells a different story!
Most of us are aware of the complete devastation by looking at the news but cannot understand the true reality from a distance. The people have nothing left and most have no insurance because it is too expensive. Buddy and Kerri know the before and after and through Hope For The World wish to help the Bahamian people in every way possible. One way we can all help is through donations which can go directly and quickly to the people through this connection. If you wish to help in some way you can do so here.

Most of all, continue to pray for all those affected by Dorian. Parts of our east coast and especially Ocracoke and the Outer Banks of NC have not escaped the storm’s wrath.
The hood of the Arctic Cat wanted a spot in this pic of our wild sunflowers along the trail behind the house. Since it provided a good ride we suppose it is ok.
Emma is getting in a few push ups before her morning run!
The first bloom from our “bodacious” dahlia. Its name is fitting!
The blues and greens of September!
Blackberry semifreddo…delicious is an understatement!
We discovered this at the yard’s edge this weekend and it looks like some type of buckthorn! Maybe some of our experts can verify?

My heart is breaking for the wonderful people of the Bahamas. They must get help from us and also Great Britain needs to step in. Thank you for the link. I plan to share with my ministers this morning. My sister refused to leave Charleston (along with 80% of the citizens). Thankfully she sustained no damage and the power company did an outstanding job to quickly restore electricity.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, I am so glad your sister had no damage. The devastation in the Bahamas is so heart-breaking. Our friends have been ministering to the islands for years and we are so thankful that they are safe and were able to get home. They leave for Albania on Tuesday, keep them in your prayers. Have a beautiful day my friend.
It has been several years since we have been to Charleston, we may try to go in October!

Unbelievable that anyone could survive Dorian in the Bahamas. Franklin Graham’s group, Samaritan Purse is also working there. Give everyone please. When we had the floods in Colorado a few years back Samaritan Purse showed up right away. Our church was headquarters for them. They worked 24 7 until every person was helped in the way most needed. The church housed and fed the workers for weeks. They surely live out Jesus’ command, “Love your neighbor as yourself”,

Samaritan’s Purse is always there! Yes, we Christians must be the Hands and feet of Jesus! Have a wonderful Sunday, Alice!

Good morning, dear friend. It is completely unimaginable the devastation from Dorian. We sat through Isabelle before we left Va. Beach. It was a Cat 2 and we lost our roof and the windows blew out of our garage. It was the only time in our married life of 47 years, I have ever seen Mike defeated. It took us 2 days to cut the trees and get our of our driveway. And, even after that – I can’t get a grasp on what I am seeing from Dorian.
Your precious Emma is growing by leaps and bounds. She will be running after Ella Mae soon. As always Pam, it your photos are beautiful and it is a joy to spend Sunday morning with you. Many blessings to you and your lovely family. ❤

As I viewed the photo of the sunrise at your home, I heard the strains of “I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses, etc.” What a serene vision produced by Butch’s dedicated green thumb. It fortified the heart before viewing the devastation wrought by Dorian to that indomitable Church and discovering God’s answer in the rainbow promise that hovered over it. Now is the opportunity for all of us to reach out in mission spirit and help to rebuild, starting with our donations.. “They will know that we are Christians by our love…” Emma love
restored the smiles with her yoga effortless pose and spa attire. She is such a delight. A blessed Sabbath to all.

They will KNOW we are Christians by our love, dear Mary! I was out in the garden at first light yesterday morning, and thank you for bringing that old hymn to mind. Wishing you a beautiful week my friend❤️

I’m glad your friends are safe. I have a good friend in the Outer Banks who had evacuated to higher ground but I haven’t heard how the property is. As long as the people are safe… that’s the main thing.
Have a day as lovely as each and every photo!

First, so glad to hear your friends are safe. The devastation is truly unbelievable. The sunrise, sunset and rainbow remind us of the sovereignty of our God. Christians have to step up and help these people. Emma is growing too fast..such a cutie. Just one more thing-the bodacious dahlia is breathtaking.
