“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
Romans 12:9-10
Summer refuses to leave Weiss Lake, and with temps still hitting triple digits, the water is a good place to be!
American beautyberry living up to its name!
Bolls are preparing to burst forth as harvest is approaching. We just experienced our “harvest moon” for this year. A full micro moon on Friday the 13th.
And we are seeing a lot of white scattered across the local cotton fields!
EM was really into the song she is singing. Maybe taking after her Daddy!
Our second “bodacious dahlia” of the summer. Pam is very proud and gets excited whenever there is even one new bloom.
Chicken scaloppine with capers, polenta, and local lettuces!
Goldenrod season has arrived. We see them as early as July and some years as late as December but September-October is prime time!
I had to lobby hard to win a spot for this guy on the blog. Pam is not fond of it but we’ve been waging war and I finally won a small battle. Very rare to catch an armadillo and this is the first one we have trapped. Oddly, there was no bait/food of any kind in the trap. A look at those claws and you can see why they can do major digging in yards and gardens! And I agree, he/she is not so pretty!
We’ve had zinnias most of the summer but we are a few shy of competing with this field!

Savor every moment Gail! Wishing you a beauty-filled Sunday!
Nancy says
Congratulations on trapping the Armadillo!
Em looks as beautiful as ever singing!
And you can feel Autumn is in the air.
Happy Sunday to you both…!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Nancy. I am afraid the armadillo was just one of many 😳
Bonnie Morgan says
Once the smell of an armadillo is in your trap you will have more success. We hired a “critter getter “once and he caught four or five. He had elaborate walls of netting to guide them to his trap. His fee was dependent on the number of his catch and he did quite well but it became very pricey. They can not see so they feel and smell their way to grubs that they dig in your garden.
There are little signs of fall in my garden. The spider lilies are opening and I saw one Sasanqua bloom this week
Weiss Lake does look peaceful and there is nothing prettier than a cotton field.I am seeing bolls of white here more and more.
Happy Sunday. Happy Armadillo trapping, Butch!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, everything we read says you have to rid your garden of the grubs in order to get rid of the armadillos. Butch is hard at work trying to do that.
Happy Sunday to you and Mike!
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
As always a lovely post. I am happy to see you had success catching the armadillo. He is certainly a dreadful looking creature. I do love the cotton fields, they are in my Mississippi roots. All the photos are beautiful, but my favorite is always, precious Ella Mae. I am sure she will have musical talents.
Lovely day and week to you and your beautiful family.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Sandra. We fear that the armadillo is one of many. Thank you for your sweet comments. Happy Sunday ❤️
Clara says
Pam & Butch, Lovely pics! Always look forward to them! Oh, the sunset is so beautiful. The narrative & Bible verses makes Sunday morning even more special. Weiss Lake is so relaxing & inviting! EM is so cute & I imagine she has a sweet voice. Congrats on the armadillo catch! Maybe any others will move on to the next yard. I love cotton fields when they are mature & ready for harvest. Blessing to you both! Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Clara. Have a wonderful week!❤️

Thank you Butch and Pam for another Sunday of beautiful eye candy {except for the creature!! Yikes, that thing does look indestructible!! } I love to watch the cotton fields turn white on my trips back and forth to the beach, I get off 65 at Flomaton and drive by a lot of cotton fields, so pretty! Ella Mae is bound to have a lot of musical talent in her genes! Have a lovely Sunday and good luck with the armadillo catching!
Jenna
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jenna. Cotton has made a huge come back with fields planted everywhere. I think they are beautiful!
marmeladegypsy says
I love these Sunday posts so very much! Here’s to Butch winning out and showing the armadillo. I’ve never seen one in person and I’d be a little taken aback if I did! Probably wise to trap with those super-claws, especially with your unbelievable gardens! Lots of loveliness here!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jeanie, they are a ugly sight to see. They make me cringe!
Heritage Hall says
What does one do with an armadillo once caught? Not pet material, for certain…Pretty EM
looks octave-deep into her concentrated rendition of the latest tune. Guess I will have to find
myself an American beautyberry shrub.. gorgeous color. The sunset and sun-filled sky photos
are perfectly accompanied by the scriptures for the day… just beautiful. Blessings upon your
week, dear Pam and Butch.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, in all of our reading on armadillos there were a couple of articles about them as a pet. I mean why would you want them as a pet, they are disgusting looking. Have a wonderful week!
Roxanne Bernard says
Now that you caught the armadillo, what did you do with it? My husband bought a trap because we are having trouble with skunks. So far, I’ve convinced him that is a really, really bad idea!! We missed the harvest moon because a glorious thunderstorm came up and we got several hours of rain, finally. Loved all of today’s pictures…no matter what the calendar says, it’s still summer in the South!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, it is still summer in the south! We also have problems with skunks, but if you trapped it, wouldn’t it spray? Keep me informed!
Maristella says
Gorgeous pictures, dear friends! The adorable princess caught my eye( as ever!). Have a blessed week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Maristella! ❤️
Rita C. says
Nothing tops that sweet picture of EM in song. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Rita, she sings really loud!
Cheryl Smith says
Hooray! Congratulations on capturing that awful, ugly animal! I know how much damage they can do. I will always wonder why certain creatures were created! LOL!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, me too. Armadillos look prehistoric to me!

Enjoyed the field of zinnias, the cotton boll, the second bodacious dahlia, the princess Ella Mae break out in song and the peaceful photos. I did laugh out loud when I saw that destructive creature in the cage. I can’t believe you caught him. His future is probably miles and miles from your home. Looking closely at his claws, I see why the damage is so great. Armadillos do look prehistoric and I was shocked that this was a problem for you. I really hope this ends soon. God Bless you and your entire family.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Dianne. This animal is so destructive, so glad Butch caught one.
