“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
Colossians 3:14
Hello dear friends! It is the third Monday of the month which means a new edition of Monday Morning Blooms with my blogging friends Mary and Lidy. We miss our precious Shirley, and are hopeful she will be able to return soon.
Autumn officially begins one week from today. Even though it doesn’t feel like sweater weather, I have decided it is time to get in the spirit. I love all the warm colors of autumn and a pitcher filled with gold blooms welcomes the season!
Our common theme for today was to create a monochromatic arrangement…yellow and gold flowers were readily available!
I chose this sentimental stoneware pitcher that belonged to my paternal grandmother and most likely came from my great-grandmother. I love its humble country style which is perfect for my arrangement.
The links for Lidy’s and Mary’s gorgeous arrangements are at the bottom of this post.
Flowers were gathered from near and far. A quick trip to the flower farm provided two varieties of celosia, a couple of bi-color sunflowers, and yellow zinnias. Can you believe with all my zinnias there were no yellow ones in bloom?! My Renaissance Man cut wild native sunflowers from a rugged area of our property to complete the arrangement. My goal was to create an arrangement that was freshly picked and simply placed in a country pitcher! And that is all I did. How easy!
The beautiful yellow shawl/scarf is a memento from a girls’ trip to Argentina with one of my very best and long-time friends.
A small basket of golden delicious apples sits alongside the flowers. A basket of mums adds more gold to the monochromatic theme.
Bees were loving the wild sunflowers!
“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.”
-Jim Bishop
The golden apple rests on my journal. I journaled for years and I am trying to take time to once again pick up the pen and write. Do you journal?

Pam, I love your autumn pitcher of gold! Such a pretty vignette and perfect blooms for your heirloom crock with the sprigs of celosia, bicolor sunflowers and wild sunflowers. The bee visiting your wild sunflowers is a testament to how beneficial native flowering plants are to pollinators. I’ve seen pockets of wild sunflowers growing along the edge of the field by my Potting Shed. I’d have to wear hip waders to walk through tall grass and avoid the fire ants to cut some. 🙂 As always it’s a treat to visit and share some flower love with you on Mondays. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary! We have an abundance of wild sunflowers, but they are hard to reach. Butch rides the arctic cat up a steep hill to retrieve them. The bees do love them. Happy Monday!

Your arrangement of gold is lovely, Pam, and I adore the vintage jug passed down to you. I love celosia, it’s like feathers, and now your Southern Sunday photo of the flower fields ties in perfectly with all the choices in your bouquet. Your shawl is a perfect match, as are the golden delicious apples. One would think that since that apple originated in WV that it would be abundantly available, but our Kroger hasn’t carried them for over a year! I need to get to the farms just north of my home to get some! Happy Monday!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Rita, I have added celosia to my list to plant next spring. The flower farm has tons of it and I love the dark burgundy and lavender colors. I can’t believe your groceries don’t carry the golden delicious, I can find them in all of our stores. Have a wonderful week!

How nice to use your heirloom pitcher for your monochromatic arrangement for MMB. Your vignette with yellow apples, yellow mums and the pretty shawl fits your natural setting so well. Your choice of flowers go together very nicely. I couldn’t help but think of how well Proverbs 25:11 describes you and this post made me think of that scripture.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I love that scripture and have often used for tablescapes. Thank you Bonnie 💛
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says

Pam @ Everyday Living says

So beautiful Pam! It is simple yet so elegant at the same time! Your cozy vignette is charming, apples and a light throw with a pot of mums…they all sing Fall! I also love the flowers you chose. I couldn’t help notice the comment above mentioning Shirley fighting cancer, I did not realize that, I just assumed she was busy with her new house. I will be praying for her…
Jenna
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jenna. Yes, Shirley is fighting breast cancer. Go back to her last blog post and you can read. It pains me what she and Kari are going through. Please add Shirley to your prayer list.
the Painted Apron says
thanks Pam, yes me too, I haven’t been able to get over Kari’s last news…praying for them both…
the Painted Apron says
thanks Pam, I agree, it hurts my heart that these sweet friends are going through this, and they are both so BRAVE!
Roxanne Bernard says
Pam, once again you have created my new favorite “best of the best” arrangement! I have a feeling we will see it gracing the pages of Southern Lady! What a treasure with the stoneware jug too. Celosia is wonderful because it self seeds a lot. I kept a 5 year happiness journal where you write down one thing you were happy or grateful for that day. It served me well when I jumped off that ladder and almost lost my foot. Those were some bleak days but it turns out that you CAN be something to be grateful about every single day. Prayers for dear Shirley that she has a complete cure.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Roxanne. Journaling helps remind me of how much I have to be thankful for. Thank you for praying for Shirley! Have a wonderful day 💛
Clara says

“Golden apples in silver settings are words spoken at the proper time.” Ditto, Bonnie. Enclosing both Shirley and Kari in a healing mercies prayer. Pam dear, you have such a sensitive and deft
eye and hand in creating your MMB’s. This one, in particular, resonates a natural simplicity and
autumn song that is like comfort food to the spirit. Blessing to Butch for the steep climb that made it possible. Organizing the MBR closets today (empty, dispose, reset) Say a wee prayer for me … LOL…..Monday blessings to all.
