“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.”
Psalms 8:1
Happy Thursday dear friends. I was finally able to find heirloom pumpkins yesterday. The shop owner said they were very hard to get this year because so much rain hindered planting and then drought conditions ensued. I was excited to finally decorate my small kitchen porch for autumn and for Ella Mae to enjoy.
I love stacking colorful pumpkins!
Yellow pumpkins were in abundance, and I immediately was smitten.
Our temperature yesterday afternoon, October 2nd…about twenty degrees above normal!
Orange pumpkins will always speak fall!
“I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”
-Henry David Thoreau
I have had a couple of mums to die in the heat, hopefully these on the porch will survive a few weeks!
“I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze. The sweet chill of pumpkin, and crisp sunburnt leaves.”
-Ann Drake
The wreath isn’t new, I can’t remember where or when it was found (am I getting old?)!!
No witches, goblins, or scary things for Princess Ella Mae!
RM placed a small section of picket fence against the brick…perfect for a cotton boll wreath!
Thank you for your sweet visits. Have you decorated your porches and patios, or has it been too hot? Wishing you a beautiful autumn weekend!

Oh, Pam, I love your porch – absolutely everything. I am also “smitten” with your yellow pumpkins, and also your cotton wreath. You know, cotton is special to me. I agree about the witches and goblins, I have never been overly fond of them. This heat is really something, we had 95 yesterday. Unheard of for an October day in WV. I hope your mums survive. I have not purchased any due to the heat and am worried a little about my pumpkins.
Again, your porch is just perfect! Wishing you cool autumn days – soon! 💛
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra. Autumn will certainly come soon. Blessings ❤️
Clara says
Pam, A beautiful porch! I love all the colorful pumpkins. The yellow, white & green ones blend so we’ll with the traditional orange ones. Your mum’s are so pretty. It’s not surprising you’ve gone through some mums due to the heat. They bloom out so quickly in the heat it seems. I have only put out mums as it’s just so hot. I do believe we’re getting cooler weather (high 80’s) by the weekend! Yay! I must admit the heat has really affected my fall decorating. Somehow adding Fall warm colors when the heat index is hovering around 100 is not inspirational for me personally. I’ll be glad to retire the summer decorations when we have a couple of days in the 70’s. Have a wonderful day! Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Oh Clara, I agree the heat has been so oppressive and hard to get in the fall decorating mood. We are looking forward to a little cool down by Sunday.❤️

Your Fall decor has so inspired me!! So adore the yellow pumpkins as well as the stacking of pumpkins!! Looking forward to cooler temps next week…99+ degrees here in the ‘ham is not delightful. We had some luck with our Mums we purchased from Costco and cut off the buds & Re fertilized them. Hopefully they will be full again.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Penny! I am hopeful our temps are “really” going to cool down next week!

Pam, you have done an amazing job decorating your porch. I don’t believe I have ever seen a yellow pumpkin. Your pumpkin stack is perfect and love your cotton wreath. Striking to see the 100 degrees on the thermometer. Have a blessed day.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I had never seen yellow pumpkins, Dianne. Happy Thursday sweet friend ❤️

Goodness, I hope the weather cools soon for everyone down there. We have had highs of 50 this week and freeze warning east of us. Your porch is my favorite this year because I don’t care for witches any time of year. I haven’t seen yellow pumpkins so will keep and eye out. Pumpkins have always made me smile and want to hug all of them. Will send a prayer up to heaven asking for Jesus to interven and send beautiful Fall weather with blue sky’s and cool temps.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much sweet Alice. The temperatures have been oppressive, but on the brighter side it is supposed to cool off. I hate to complain about the weather, God is so good and gracious ❤️
marmeladegypsy says
This is just lovely, Pam! Oh, the varied colors in the pumpkins really set it off. My outside isn’t looking so great these days but it’s time to get pumpkins (if it ever stops raining) to add to my mums. I have to say you have so inspired me with this one!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Oh thank you dear Jeanie. We are in desperate need of rain, seems you have enough to share!
Shannon@Belke says
Everything looks beautiful, Pam! I’m sure Miss Ella Mae loves it! It is the perfect autumn greeting for your guests. Yesterday, we experienced a 90 degree day. However, we have had a little cool down. It is 64 this morning with a high expected in the low 70s….fingers crossed it stays this way for awhile. Enjoy your day, sweet friend!!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet Shannon. We are expecting a cool down and I can’t wait! Have a beautiful day my friend❤️

Your first comment I had to approve for some reason.
Penny at Enjoying The Simple Things says
It all looks wonderful! I am waiting until this coming week when our weather drops into the 70’s and then 60’s before I buy mums or pumpkins.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Penny. Ours is supposed drop some, so I am hoping the pumpkins will be ok.
Bonnie Morgan says
Your porch looks so inviting and I can imagine how thrilled Ella Mae probably is. I haven’t seen yellow pumpkins but I haven’t been anywhere to look. I think it is great you have places to try growing pumpkins yourself. A friend of mine threw out her heirloom pumpkins and they sprouted the next season. It is worth a try if you have a sunny spot.
Since you asked about decorating I will answer honestly and that is no. It is way too hot here but I also have not been at home for several weeks. Our scrubs and lawn have taken a beating and we have irrigation. We need rain badly! I have never seen azaleas turn brown.
Praying for rain.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, we normally have pumpkin vines show up from tossed ones, but. It this year. Butch planted in a remote area, but the deer ate the vines. We are supposed to have cooler temps this week!
Dolores Velasco says
Dear friend, a few days without commenting on your beautiful posts. This weekend I had my grandchildren Marcos, 10, and David, 8, because his parents had work problems. Well, David, he got sick with almost 40º C of fever… can you imagine the panorama of the weekend… a horror!
Well, calm has come to my serene life every day and here I am to admire the pumpkins and their beautiful decoration.
Autumn decoration is always beautiful because its colors are varied and beautiful. I love pumpkins with such varied colors.
He has achieved a wonderful, fun and elegant porch.
I observe the outside temperature and I am amazed … very hot !!!! Here we have good weather, but it does not rise more than 25 º C maximum per day.
Autumn begins to take things seriously and we will soon wear those clothes that I like so much for autumn.
A hug
Dolores

Wow I can’t quite imagine 100º weather at this time of year! Hopefully you’ll see some relief soon! Your pumpkins look wonderful. Love the picket fence for a backdrop and the yellow pumpkins! I bought one this year among many others. I’m sure Ella Mae will love seeing all this!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Liz, we are supposed to have cooler temps this week!

Will be out today (yeeks – we also are in the upper 90’s) cannot cancel or postpone what was
scheduled. I will be on the outlook for yellow pumpkins, but am still postponing the mums until the heat takes a vacation. Your porch is Autumn glory and EM will find fascination in the colors
and textures (sans the goblins and scary items -EM has class) What Halloween has become, no
longer appeals, I think. True Autumn is just what you porch is about…simply love it.

Mary? Your name did not appear or your email. But the comment sounds just like you. We are expecting cooler temps temps this week and I am excited!
Noreen Taylor says
Dear Pam, I love your porch decorations-the pumpkins are so festive and I love Mums. Each year we get some and after they start to fade I plant them in the flower beds-they come back each year(or most of them do). We do harvest decorating, not halloween and I love all your touches. We had some warmer than normal days, but fall is definitely here now.
Hugs,
Noreen
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Noreen. Enjoy your autumn in Colorado!
Roxanne Bernard says
I love the yellow pumpkins! And blue and white and orange!! Your kitchen porch is so welcoming! I bought my first pumpkin this afternoon, but tucking it away inside until it cools down. We hit 100 today. It’s hard to believe our first frost date is just a few weeks from now.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne. We received much needed rain yesterday with cooler temps promised for this week.
Rita C. says
Very pretty and classy, Pam. I hope they last through October, at least. Last yr I bought mine I early Sept (it wasn’t nearly as hot as this yr’s continued 90s), and I started seeing fruit flies a couple weeks later. They rotted, one at a time, of those I stacked.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Rita, the shop owner told me to use a Clorox wipe every 3-4 days to prevent mold on the outside. I have had them to rot every year. So I will just enjoy them as long as they last. Thanks for visiting, are you still vacationing?
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
I’ve never seen a yellow pumpkin, I’d be smitten too. Your decor says Welcome Autumn, and I cannot wait for the weather to get cooler.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Carole, we received rain yesterday and cooler temps for this week!

Your porch is pumpkin perfect Pam! I love seeing pumpkins everywhere and RM was so clever to add the piece of fencing, great touch! I was surprised to read that pumpkins were hard to get this year, they are abundantly available in Bham and I have been buying a few every time I go shopping…you can’t have too many pumpkins! I can picture Ella Mae rearranging the little ones you have on your porch. Such a wonderful welcoming entrance!
Cooler temps next week, yay!!

This is so beautiful, it motivates me to get out and finally decorate my porch. I’ve put it off because it’s still so hot and actually tossed a pumpkin in the swimming pool yesterday. It seemed appropriate. Here’s to cooler weather and beautiful porches!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Tossing a pumpkin in the swimming pool…I guess you cooled it off a bit! 😊🎃

I love all those pumpkins!!
I feel so bummed not having pumpkins for decorations!
Oh I have little table-top pumpkin decorations, but the condo life is not conducive to big pumpkins!
At least I get to enjoy yours vicariously! 🥰💕

Love your porch decked out for fall Pam! I was wondering why heirloom pumpkins were harder to come by this year. I have used Clorox on my pumpkins in the past to inhibit bacteria growth and it does help. So happy to have temps in the 70s and 80s this week. We had about 20 minutes of rain this weekend but I’ll take what we can get. 😉
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Mary 🍂🎃🍁

gorgeous Autumn porch, Pam. love the urn and stacked pumpkins. these are the first yellow pumpkins I’ve seen. I’ve had some golden with stripes, but the yellows are new to me. I always love mums, and it’s been hot here in SW Missouri too, but we’re having a major cool down, so now I’ll have to worry about things freezing! gosh, where did Fall go?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Debra! I was excited to find yellow pumpkins. Have a wonderful week!
